Our Vision Farm
США
Добавлен 26 окт 2012
My husband & I were high school sweethearts which later on started our family young. I started my own business selling Jams & Baked Goods which then grew into a desire to "Live off the Land"
We purchased our 1st property in FL in 2016 & completely transformed it into the homestead of our dreams.
A place where we could raise our own meat, eggs & veggies as well as continue to grow our business.
"Our Vision" is to continue living a simpler life. To be stewards of the land. A land flourishing with Life not just from livestock & wildlife but also flowing in abundance from Healthy Gardens, Fruit Trees & Native Plants so that we can share our Blessings with others.
In 2023 we took a huge Leap of Faith, sold the FL farm & found our dream property in Maine.
And so the story continues... Join us in our Journey & be Inspired to live a little differently!
God is Good & we hope our story inspires others to start their own business, farm or find ways of living a more self sustainable lifestyle.

How many days after egg candling of turkey bird?
@@malikfaaiz7018 a turkey egg takes 28 days to hatch. This was filmed about 10 days before hatch date so around Day 18😁
Do you still white plymouth rock. I'm in Canada and have been trying to get eggs or chicks. Please message me back
@@judybrunet6615 nope we sold them before moving from FL to Maine. We Don't currently raise any livestock here besides meat birds in the summer. If you want this specific breed and can't find them anywhere I'd recommend waiting till it's warmer and ordering chicks online when they can ship them😁 there are many websites and companies out there.
Careful with the ghost peppers. They are the OG superhot. Several times hotter then the average habanero.
I live in Gainesville and it’s January 6. I still have green papaya on the tree without any signs of ripening. It’s supposed to get down in the 20s this week. What do you recommend?
@@lauriemitchell7835 there's not much unfortunately. You can try wrapping them up in a blanket if your trees aren't too tall. Ours used to get super tall so that wasn't really an option. Only other thing is to go ahead and pick them and be prepared to make some recipes with green papaya😋 You can try and let them ripen on the counter but in my experience they usually just rot when picked too green.
I'm in NH zone 5a. I just received my 3rd order from MIGardener this year. I had one order of garlic and 2 orders of veggie and flower seeds. I always have good luck with his seeds.
@@maureenrebele2071 that's great!! They seem to do good in our zone. We are zone 5a here in Maine too😁
Porcupines will also mess with fruit trees. They destroyed our crabapple tree.
@@debbiemower could be, I assume it was deer because we have such a heavy deer population here & see them all times of day. They knocked over the cages around some of the trees and ate off the leaves. But I think they'll bounce back in spring since they didn't eat or damage the actual stems🤞
Good haul! I had mixed results with my MI Gardener seeds last year.
@@PorchGardeningWithPassion ruclips.net/video/197XO6xYcVs/видео.htmlsi=PWMed5Rj6rZk2RW2 this was last yrs seeds I got from MI Gardener. Out of them all, the three that didn't work out were the carnations, strawflower and cilantro. They all germinated but sort of disappeared in the garden after transplanting. This will be only our 2nd yr gardening in Maine so we will see how it goes🤞🤞
@@ourvisionfarm2893 I wish you luck with the second year of Maine gardening! I imagine it is similar to my PNW Gardening, so feel free to reach out to me on Insta or FB. I had mixed results with the MI Gardener sunflowers. The Teddy Bears took forever and barely reached a foot time. I had some others in the same soil reach 12' from a different brand. The mixed sunflower seeds were great and fun!
I was expecting you to say something about your experience of buying them online, but nothing
@@alejandrocabrera3380 We order chicks online all the time, usually it goes very well, only a couple times we've received a couple dead ones in the box but for the most part we've had great experiences! Usually I search for the most affordable prices, I don't have a favorite website.
@ourvisionfarm2893 thank you very much for sharing this, I am waiting for 20 I bought. How long does it usually take for them to arrive? I am also curious with what food did you start...? I bought the Purina Start and Grow medicated
@alejandrocabrera3380 usually it depends on their next hatch date available. Once the company updates you that they have shipped it will take from 2-3 days depending how far they are traveling. We just use chick starter , the one you got is fine. I like to use unmedicated but what you got is fine to get them started ☺️
@@ourvisionfarm2893 thankbyou again for the quick response and sharing your experience. I did buy the medicated one because on the chicks description it was recommended to avoid a type of disease that I cant remember now. If not I wouldn't buy any medicated food. Thank you again.
@@alejandrocabrera3380 you're welcome, good luck with them!!
I've been doing cookies and candies too. Have a wonderful Christmas.
@@debbiemower Merry Christmas!🎄🎁

Those look awesome. Well done!
So beautiful 😮😮❤ Merry Christmas 😊

Oh that looks awesome! How do you make them?
@@debbiemower I made this video a couple yrs ago on how to make a white chocolate unicorn themed one! basically the same steps but I use a smaller silicone mold for Christmas ones, and I use Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers, hot cocoa mix and white marshmallows inside instead of all the unicorn themed things.ruclips.net/video/ECnS7pAennc/видео.htmlsi=qgnJowsV4egt83d7

Get used to the rocks. They'll get pushed up from the ground with the frost. Even so, a great garden is worth the rock picking!
@@debbiemower good to know! I was wondering why it seemed like we have more rocks now than the first time we tilled this spot lol. Luckily we've only hit 1 very large one that we couldn't dig up, so it has been a great spot for the garden 😁
I had White Rocks once, They laid well and got really nice sized(Meyer Hatchery). Of course, White Rocks are the foundation for many meat chickens(monstrosities). UPDATE: After much study, it seems, that the Delaware chicken was the broiler of the 40's until roughly 1960's. Perhaps a Delaware rooster over a White Rock hen will produce a serious meat bird...
And the mothers of the commercial red sex links.
What is the variety?
@@jaynagala5819 we are not sure actually. They were supposed to be "yellow petite watermelon" from true leaf market, but they turned out to be huge 25-30lb+ watermelons instead lol. They were yellow at least but I think there must have been a seed mixup somewhere.
i can’t wait for my quail eggs to hatch idk what day they are but i’m excited! any tips? of what should i feed them?
@@AngelPedralvez high protein game bird feed, it's been a while for us but I believe there is a chick starter crumble for game birds to start them on. If not you may need to crush up the regular game bird feed into smaller pieces ☺️
@@ourvisionfarm2893 thank you so much!❤️
Awesome video. Your flowers still look terrific.
So beautiful ❤️
Beautiful 🌹 😇❤🫰🔥
Looks wonderful. 🌻🐿🍁🍂🍁🌻
I use saved coffee grounds on ant hills. Very effective. You have had a great first year's growth!
We didn't notice any hills in the garden this yr but that's nice to know! Wish we would've tried that in FL, ants were definitely a problem in the gardens
Which is the sweetest papaya fruit?
@@MarjorieMarriott-t3v I've only ever grown them from store bought papaya. When you get a really good sweet one save the seeds! The ripe ones on the tree are very soft with yellow skin, they almost fall off on their own when you touch them.
Beautiful stuff
Melon magic! That's amazing.
I love your video I live in Florida and I have papayas also my papayas are huge The soil here is sand and I don’t fertilize is easy and they are delicious. Do you know you can use the green papaya I make what is called picadillos and use them on salads. Good job
Which lake is that? There are so many to choose from up that way.
@@debbiemower this is Cole's landing in Lee, Silver Lake😁
Wonderful harvest ❤
🎉❤
Congratulations on your first growth of watermelon 🍉
Wow❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Glad your cabbage loopers left you alone. I can't stand those things.
I know, they're still on the kale but Im glad they didn't ruin any progress on the cabbage heads. I squish them by hand and I hate it😆
Your vegetable garden is doing fantastic, everything looks delicious, after seeing everything it is making me want to make myself a good salad to eat 😅 your doing an amazing job, so happy for all of you.
@@christineplasencia2053 thank you😁 Yes growing fresh veggies definitely makes you crave them even more, they taste so much different than the store, especially tomatoes!
Have you ever made zucchini pickles? A friend used to make them for big occasions, like cookouts, and they were wonderful. We were never lucky with watermelons in a garden, so I'm a bit jealous.
@@debbiemower I've made sweet pickles using yellow squash before! They were super good now that I remember, never tried with zucchini but I imagine they'd be just as good. And I have a recipe for zucchini relish saved too. Me too on the watermelon! We've tried many times in FL but they never hit it off so I am just counting the days till we can try one soon🤤
Not sure if you're a coffee drinker but If you try watermelons again the only thing I have done with these is dump our used coffee grinds mixed with water on them about once a week. No idea if that helped but worth a try!
@@ourvisionfarm2893 I'll have to remember that! I use coffee grounds on several things, including ant control.
The garden has developed fantastic for your first year in Maine, so happy for you guys.
