- In May 2014 a major steam event was organized in Germany based around the town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. Nine steam locomotives along with a couple of diesels and appropriate rolling stock provided 5 days of action packed steam.

German steam may look a bit weird to us, but you gotta admire the care they obviously give the engines.

It was amazing to see steam engines but sad bcoz these beauty are rare to find these days.
Come to India sometime - there is a steam Loco Shed and Museum at Rewari Junction. Also a special steam train called - steam express has been started from Garhi Harsu ( near Gurgaon) to Farukhnagar.

I really like the panoramic shots, so many people want to get up close to steam which is great but forget that often the best video footage is often from a distance

The grunt, swagger, honking and chugging with such heavy smoke make these steam engines smack to me as golden piece of artistry. These modern AC locos are simply dour and humdrum. Alcos being the only saving grace in this modern age of transportation. I’d wish to see the modern trains run with these beautiful steam locos. Excellent compilation though

THANKS to ALLAH that . I saw the steam engine & travelled in that train.when I was only 6 to 7 years old in I think it was 1993 or 1994 .I am so lucky person Because there was railway yard in front of my house. But new generation can't see that golden time.

Never saw one with blinders on the engine. Are those to shield the headlight for some reason or to channel air?
For those worried about pollution, consider there are only a very few steamers left, much of that is steam, and fully cruising there is much less carbon, and it's heavy, falling to ground as evident at any railyard where steamers operated.
We should preserve some of the heritage; their glory is far greater when moving!
These "blinders" are indeed used for aerodynamic reasons :)

What are those shields on the side of the front of the locomotive in 4:42
They are steam deflectors, they lift smoke away from the loco at speed so the driver can see.
