  • Plus Size Charity Shop Haul & Try On | UK Thrifting
This week I’ve been to Barnardos. I did manage to find some nice items at okayish prices but not the charity shop experience that I’ve grown to love. Understandably all businesses have seen a price hike but pricing yourself too high will no doubt see a drop in sales and ultimately revenue 🤷🏼‍♀️

The double denim top can have two hook and eye closures sewn into it. They will not be visible from the outside, but will give you a lovely fit. The burnt sienna shawl is SOOO Beautiful!! Your styling of it is great too!

The hook and eye is a great idea. I feel that I may end up wearing the shirt open as looking back on the video I’m not sure on the neckline. I think that If I have it open over a turtle neck or something similar it may look nicer x

Agree about the prices, they are ridiculous! The coat looks amazing on you and well worth a tenner! Love the tote bag ❤️

I've noticed our mainline thrift stores have gone way up in prices as well - finding more and more that I can buy new t-shirts and other things from regular stores. I'm with you- my donations go to some smaller thrift stores - usually run by churches.

Yes I do feel that there needs to be a balance. Some of the prices that I’ve seen in this one particular store 🫣 Makes me wonder if they want to sell things. It also makes for a really slow turn around and I think with second hand places you need good stock rotation as people do enjoy going and having a good browse and will buy at the right price.

I totally agree with you - we care too much what people think - if you like it wear it 😊 op shops here in Australia can be a bit pricey

They are stupid prices here! You found some lovely things.. I been stuck for years in worrying about what clothes suit me… in fact I don’t think anything suits me 😂…. If I wasn’t 66 overweight and if my figure hadn’t had gone south ages ago.. I’d be better off not bothering with clothes 🫣🤣😂

Things will suit you! I studied colour therapy a while back and that gives you an insight into which shades do you more favours but I really do think as we get older we just need to wear things that we like. Sometimes half the battle is learning what it is we like after years of harsh self judgement x

It definitely doesn’t matter does it 😊 I do get the whole wanting to look our best mindset but I’m more throw the rule book out of the window and come up with your own guidelines x

Not sure if you can get something called Hollywood Tape where you are? It’s great to address things like the gape in your new top

It's crazy that they are overrun with stock but nothing is selling due to central pricing meaning people aren't buying it. That is how the shop will end up going out of business. Sell it cheaper get more sales is a much better business model

I think you looked great 😊. I am 46 and wear what the hell i like. I choose not to colour my hair i love my natural colour and for me personally i don't want the chemicals but its my choice and i love it so does my husband yet i get judgements but i really don't care life is too short so i say be happy and do what you want

I agree - life is definitely too short for unnecessary worry and stress. I’m a similar way with make up; rarely if ever wear
It and when I do it’s a bit of eyeliner and I’m done x

Charity shops exist to raise money, not to provide cheap clothes for consumers. If they are not hitting sales targets they will have to change their strategy. I wouldn't pay those prices though.

  • @barbarakidd1198

I get so angry when you go charity shops , where items are given freely and the charge unbelievable prices for what are mostly not always secondhand items, and sometimes you can buy some item new that are cheaper from stores , as you say it’s the big organisations that are hiking up prices not the individual shops
