Kikil is one of my favorites (it wasn't before) because I tried them from a padang restaurant that cooked them really well, made them soft so they weren't too chewy and the soup that came with them made the taste even better. So I think it really depends on how you cook the tendons. I agree about chicken feet, though. It's so pointless and difficult to consume, except that I love Keripik ceker from Surabaya? Completely edible.

I'm sundanese from bandung, born and raised. Seblak originated from my city, it is popular here but we considered seblak as a newlyfound streetfood or snack/lightmeal which has a sudden trend on the street vendors. If you ask people here, 25-30 years ago Seblak almost didn't exist, no one sells them no one makes them, our grandparents don't even know what seblak is. I'm not sure if seblak should be called a signature or our traditional dish.... it's just a new street food trend that started like probably 10-15 years ago. just saying that seblak is not "up there" as the other traditional Indonesian cuisine. Another sample of "newlyfound dish" is Jasuke, telur gulung, singkong keju, etc...it's a new thing, innovations from street vendors mostly, it's not our "traditional dish". Compare to Rendang, Gado-gado, Nasi Goreng, Papeda, Sate, which is way more authentic Indonesian dish and been there for hundreds if not thousands of years.

The reason behind why so many 'cheapest parts' of chicken or cow become ingredients of indonesian culinary is not far from the colonialism that happened in our beloved country for so long... in the past most of our people are 'poor' becoz being 'slave' under colonialism, so 'the expensive part' from chicken n cow will go directly into plate of our colonizer n their followers leader .. so our ancestors just being 'creative' in order to keep their stomachs full with what 'left over' that those colonizer n their followers dont wanna to eat... n then those culinary just being passed from generation to generation for years n makes it become our main food/traditional food no matter ur social status in community...😂😂😂 have u taste sup kepala ikan? that culinary also coming from that background
Even I wouldn't recommend Seblak to foreigners Lol although I live in Bandung my whole life. It's not even healthy food either in my opinion. I ate Seblak just one time, and that's it!! Never want to eat it again. FYI seblak is not a traditional sundanese food actually. It became popular just about a decade ago.
