With the exception of a few players on Asbury, this is the real core E-Street band. NOTHING today tops the raw talent and vibe of this group. You can add singers, horns, more guitars, etc but these original performances will never, ever be duplicated. One of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite albums. Thanks for the upload!

@Patrick Jordan: Sorry, I disagree. “Incident” along with “Jungleland” and “Backstreets” form what I always thought of as his ‘urban trilogy’ and I think the audience was just mesmerized by how emotional and passionate this is. Unlike the obligatory “Rosie”, “BTR” et al these are not ‘fun’ songs; they’re to be savored for their overwhelming beauty.

A bit of a shame that the immediacy, desperation & urgency of the original was passed over in favor of a low key rendition....
Because you really FEEL those things in the album version of Incident. Which is key to it's overall feel & lost it's here, unfortunately. Smoothness not required here....which is what they'd opted for here, it seems.
Good, nonetheless. It could've been great.

Throughout the 1960's, the Capital Theatre was a porno movie house, with 3200 seats. LOL - not a good business model. When Fillmore East closed in 1971, it was transformed into one of the most important venues for rock music. The entire list of bands that played there over 15 years reads like a 1970s Woodstock.

With bruised arms and broken rhythm in a beat-up old Buick
    Pero vestido como dinamita
    But dressed just like dynamite
He tried sellin' his heart to the hard girls over on Easy Street
Pero suspiraron "Johnny, se desmorona tan fácil
But they sighed "Johnny it falls apart so easy
And you know hearts these days are cheap"
And the pimps swung their axes and said
    "Johnny eres un tramposo"
    "Johnny you're a cheater"
Well the pimps swung their axes and said
    "Johnny eres un mentiroso"
    "Johnny you're a liar"
And from out of the shadows came a young girl's voice
    Diciendo: "Johnny no llores"
    Saying, "Johnny don't cry"
    "La puertorriqueña Jane
    "Puerto Rican Jane
Oh, ¿no me dirás cómo te llamas?
Oh, won't you tell me what's your name?
I want to drive you down to the other side of town
Donde el paraíso no está tan lleno
    Where paradise ain't so crowded
Esta noche habrá acción en Shanty Lane".
There'll be action goin' down on Shanty Lane tonight"
All them golden-heeled fairies in a real bitch fight
Pull 38's and kiss the girls good night
Oh, buenas noches, está bien Jane.
Oh good night, it's all right Jane
Now let them black boys in to light the soul flame
We may find it out on the street tonight baby
Or we may walk until the daylight maybe
Well like a cool Romeo he made his moves
Oh, ella se veía tan bien
    Oh, she looked so fine
Like a late Juliet she knew he'd never be true
But then she didn't really mind
    Arriba una banda estaba tocando
    Upstairs a band was playin'
And the singer was singin' something about going home
Ella susurró: "Johnny español, puedes dejarme esta noche".
She whispered, "Spanish Johnny, you can leave me tonight
Pero no me dejes solo "
But just don't leave me alone"
Y Johnny gritó: "La puertorriqueña Jane
And Johnny cried, "Puerto Rican Jane
Word is down the cops have found the vein"
Oh, all them barefoot boys they left their homes for the woods
Them little barefoot street boys they say homes ain't no good
They left the corners, threw away all their switchblade knives
Y nos dimos un beso de despedida
    And kissed each other good-bye
Johnny was sittin' on the fire escape
Watchin' the kids playin' down the street
Llamó: "Hola, pequeños héroes, el largo verano
He called down, "Hey little heroes, summer's long
But I guess it ain't very sweet around here anymore"
Janey duerme entre sábanas húmedas de sudor.
Janey sleeps in sheets damp with sweat
Johnny se sienta solo y observa cómo ella sueña, sueña.
Johnny sits up alone and watches her dream on, dream on
And the sister prays for lost souls
Then breaks down in the chapel after everyone's gone
Jane se acerca para compartir su almohada.
Jane moves over to share her pillow
But opens her eyes to see Johnny up and puttin' his clothes on
Ella dice: "Esos jóvenes románticos (esos jóvenes románticos)
She says, "Those romantic young boys (those romantic young boys)
Lo único que quieren hacer es pelear"
All they ever want to do is fight"
Esos jóvenes románticos (esos jóvenes románticos)
Those romantic young boys (those romantic young boys)
    Están llamando por la ventana
    They're callin' through the window
"Hola Johnny español, ¿quieres ganar un poco de dinero fácil esta noche?"
"Hey Spanish Johnny, you want to make a little easy money tonight?"
    Y Johnny susurró
    And Johnny whispered
"Buenas noches, todo está bien Jane.
"Good night, it's all tight Jane
I'll meet you tomorrow night on Lover's Lane
We may find it out on the street tonight baby
Or we may walk until the daylight maybe"
"Ah, buenas noches, está bien Jane.
"Ah, good night, it's all right Jane
I'm gonna meet you tomorrow night on Lover's Lane
Ah, we can find it out on the street tonight baby
