- 2022 EP17: In this EPF video, I test my new $450 St. Croix LEGEND ELITE Fishing Rod.
[May 4th, 2022 (Fishing Session Number 43)]
Read more about it below:
Did you know that...?
💸...Before I bought this St. Croix Legend Elite, my most expensive rod ever was the St. Croix Avid Pearl, which is a rod in the range of $200-$230. It was also a 6'6" ML, 2 pcs.
💸...The St. Croix company offers a "factory tour" for those who are interested. Feel free to browse their website for it: stcroixrods.com/pages/factory.... They also have a store on site as well. 😀
💸...The D&R Canal has produced me some nice [and weird fish] in the past. Check out this subscriber lure challenge video for some interesting catches: • Subscriber Lure Fishin... . Over there, it is definitely quality over quantity, though.

The only problem I have with St. Croix rods is, I've only purchased st croix rods since getting my 1st one. They make damn good rods
Leo: *opens brand new $450 rod*
Also Leo: *tosses it on the ground after catching a smallie*
Never change Leo😂
Yea that was crazy ,eh .
You did not see his $80 reel and fishing on a bobber. That’s my Asian brother for yea!
I’ve been fishing these Legend rods for about 5 years. Great rods. Their glass rods are awesome too. I’ve visited their shop and they helped me out when my dog went psycho in my garage and ate 27 of my rods.
Wow what a nightmare... Poor dog hope he was ok and that you got most of your rods replaced.
If my dog ate 27 rods of mine, he'll be dog stew..... 😂😂😂😜
Glad to see you fishing the D&R canal! Fish there all the time... glad to see I'm not the only one with trouble catching here 😅. Love the videos as always, and happy fishing!
Daaang, good times with the new classic EPF grub. I remember voting on the gold color ha, I need to get some in my bag! Good stuff as always Leo!
I've fished that part of the D&R for years. You caught more fish in this video than I managed to catch in almost 15 years lol. Good job Leo. Good stuff.
Great video Leo!!! Thanks for the hard work and great entertainment 👍
Kudos to you for getting a $450 rod Leo. I have a St. Croix Panfish Elite UL and it's one of my favs.
Happy for you treating yourself.my Only two rods were stolen , so I've been on the buy sells all winter. I now have a collection, including a first gen Fenwick hmg fly rod
You’re the man, Leo. Keep educating and fish on!
Love watching you unwrap the rod and place the plastic in your pocket. Thanks EPF! Tight lines bro!
Lol you put a bobber on a $450 rod jajajaja
Classic EPF fishing. Love it
Love the idea of a really nice rod, but the amount of times I’ve caught the tip on the floor or in the car door, I just can’t throw that money away like that 😂✌🏻
Or the trunk lol
Expensive rods often come with a replacement program.
I feel you. I've got a decent $100 one piece rod for bass fishing that I love, but anywhere else I'm rocking a 6 foot eagle claw ultralight that I paid like $30 for. Perfectly happy with both.
@@brycedayton4092 you and me both! i personally love ugly stiks!
Get a 10$ rod sleeve ya dip
St. Croix is the only company I give my money to. They’ve never failed me. Have a couple dozen of their rods now. All paired with either a Shimano or Okuma reel.
Great job catching a nice variety. Those St Croix rods are fantastic. Hope the trout tasted good.
Another great video!!! Keep it up my friend.
Great video as always 🔥🔥🔥
Good video, I'll like it before watching it, I know it's going to be good, watching you from Florida✌️
That is a pretty sick rod, Leo... cool, but bloody expensive for an off the shelf rod... but really kewlll... 😁👍🏻👌🏼Enjoy the rod.
Good to see you treated yourself to something nice. On my budget I've kind of been partial to Shakespeare rods, reasonably priced and sturdy.
That’s why I like these video , it’s show case different type of fish throughout the video .
Most likely I won’t be going out fishing any time soon or this year .. super busy
Wow , a $ 450. 00 St Croix Rod ! Well ,as much as you fish , that's just fine . You saved yer money and got yer self a treat . This will be with you for a long time and will bring much pleasure . Nice going Leo . Tom Daytona Beach , FL . 7, May 2022.
ha dude this is the first ime seeing your channel, love it :D
Nice gear upgrade brother. You’re gonna do some very fun fishing with that.
Leo, love your videos. Please send me a red envelope next Christmas! Hahaha. Great comedy with the black and white editing with crickets chirping. The last current break video was epic but a mystery. Thanks for all you do.
Love the new rod and video🙌🏽
These cricket chirping parts are hilarious!!! When you repeat yourself, but louder. 😂🤣😂 Good stuff man.
Great edits 🤣 i really got a laugh at the "textbook casts"
That jump by the Rainbow Trout was Epic! Man he was frisky!! 👊 🎣
Awsome Leo, make sure you put some U-40 cork sealer on that nice looking rod👍
OOOOH another EPF upload! My day just got better :)
Grats on the new Legend Elite. I love all my St Croix rods. My most expensive is an Avid. I like to keep my rods around $100-$120 so I have 2 Bass X, a Premier and 2 Triumph. I am too clumsy to risk anything more expensive 🤣
I first tried a triumph and it was my best rod ever so I wondered what mojo bass was like so I bought one and it's even better than triumph
I purchased a 9ft St Croix for salmon fishing. Excellent sensitivity. I bought it after breaking my 9ft Fenwick.
You cannot go wrong with a St Croix rod. I own a few, all one piece and only fish them from my boat. Congratulations on your purchase.
Sweet! I have the same rod and it's the best I own. Love this..
I recently bought a St Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" 2 piece and my goodness that thing is LIGHT. I've never had a rod this light. You just have to flick your wrist and the line goes out smooth and far. I normally go with things like Ugly Stik because they can take a beating and I don't have to be super careful with them, but with the St. Croix I have to treat like a baby. I bought a nice travel case so I can keep it in my car without worrying about something crushing it. Amazing rod and you can definitely feel the difference between it and a cheaper rod. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better or will catch more fish, but it makes the experience a little easier/different. The overall quality is improved and that's what you're paying for -- similar to when someone buys a nice car. So a cheaper rod like a Daiwa, Fenwick, Penn, Ugly Stik, etc can do the job, but having a luxury rod is a nice feeling as well. That rod is absolutely gorgeous, but was just a tad too rich for my blood. I'm happy with my St. Croix though and hope you land some new species and PBs on yours!
Great Video!
Man, I don't think I'd ever spend that much on a rod. Also got caught up on the videos. Thought you stopped making videos but found out RUclips decided I should be unsubscribed and I wasn't getting notifications. 😑 But glad I found out got caught up and back into some good ol EPF. 😁
Just ordered that eurotackle son, can't wait to try it in the creeks from NKY
It’s Leo’s birthday today ! Happy birthday brother !
Omg lol im going to try pelagic jig with bobber.
I know that it is popular for salmon fishing in america. Im building some very nice rods for this technique and few legend croix as well
And magically found this video❤🎉
I have the legend elite - exact same rod. I also have a Connley inshore rod that was $150 less. The Connley is better....amazing in fact. You should do a review on that one. Heck, I will even loan it to you as we are local!
I love those rods
I got an awesome ultralight rod and reel at Walmart for $2.00 on clearance. Best money I ever spent and I can catch the same kind of fish you catch on a $400.00 rod. 😂
Cool story
Yeah looks like a really nice rod but I'm with you. My $16 Walmart rod and reel combo has never let me down.
Missing the $400 experience tho. It has more to offer when catching the same fish. I can go out an get skunked on my $1000 combo but still have a great time because the combo is such a pleasure to fish with. P.s. haven't been skunked in a while
@@TerpDerp I'm too busy making sacrifices to put my daughter through College and pay off a mortgage. Now that's REALLY the best money I've ever spent. 😇😂☮️🙏💟🐟🎣
@@robertevans8024 can't disagree with that! Good for you man
Thanks Leo
I'm not gunna lie... when you do those quirky little EPF movements... it's so nonsensical that it makes me crack up 😄😄 you a funny guy 🎣😜 and not a bad fisherman for someone who fishes with a 1" lure 👊😂👌💪🎣💯
Rod looks good.
I have one too. I got mine for $250 bought it off a friend. Mine is 7ft one piece but it a stcroix legend tournament inshore. I love it so far also if you break it st Croix will replace it. It got lifetime warranty
Looks like a very strong and flexible rod. 💪 🎣
Is epf divorced?
@@jamesher7835 Yes, Leo is divorced.
@@tishakee5946 you like fishing to?
@@jamesher7835 I love to fish 🎣 and you?
@@tishakee5946 yep me to whats your fav fish to fish for?
I've got a st. Croix and it's amazing. Enjoy it
Dam son you make fishing look easy my Mann
Great video! How do you store your two piece rod and real for regular usage?
For that price point, that rod better be good!
I'm heading out to a local lake in like 20 minutes with a load of epf swim baits. Wish me luck!
Got me laughing my ass off when u wer talkin ab the rod😂
EPF, when are you going to start going for some big fish? Been waiting for it.
You needed the new st. Croix rod since your pink one broke.
I just have a cheap 50 dollar Daiwa and it has served me well. I wonder how much of a difference such a premium rod would make. I'd be too scared to break it lol
You would be suprised paired with braided line it’s a different experience try it once if you’re able too!
St croix warranty will replace it for 15 years, it used to be lifetime.
Mojo bass and premier rods are both sc3 graphite
I just got a avid rod for 50$ through the warranty
Looks like a very nice and a very expensive rod... 😜
Man you’re a hoot!!! No matter how expensive your rod, if they ain’t bitin, they ain’t bitin. But you are persistent!!!! LOL!!!!
Good morning Leo. I just received a reply from you asking me to text a specific number. Saying that I have won a prize. I’m wondering if it was really from you or some kind of RUclips hack. Should I text the number? Was it really you????
Lol Dios mio 450..u deserve it brother
I have 4 St. Croix rods, 2 Avid & 2 Premire great rods.
Got a typo in the title Leo. Nice to see you with a nice rod though
I've been fishing that canal a few times this year and it's been very slow so far.
St Croix rods are nice no doubt, I have one, but to be honest I've caught more fish on $50 combos lol. I think line, reel and tackle are what catch the fishes more. The little extra sensitivity and lightness are rarely worth the extra hundreds IMO. Sometimes you do need to treat yourself though 😉
Bingo! Of course it's all about the right tool for the right job but even a heavy duty jigging rod doesn't cost that much. Daiwa Saltiga jigging rod $299 which given what it's used for I could definitely see spending that kind of money.
@@eves08109 for sure. Sometimes you can spend a little extra money for a slight weight or sensitivity advantage but even cheap rods today are at least as good as the best rods from 20 years ago and they got the job done! Cheers and tight lines!
Been eyeing a st croix blank for a while but are titanium guides worth it? Just that first large guide is like 40-50 bucks. Almost half the price of that rod is titanium and torzite.
leo - that was a nice debuntante ball for the st croix but you need to catch some big fish on it - do some fishing with live bluegills in bigger farm ponds - go monster hunting - for next rod you should get 1 piece blank and build yourself - try some big snake lures and big rubber worms - they work, the hellgramites work well too #nikko #gamatsu#boron #content #everywhere
Hey EPf can you show a little bit of fly fishing on the Channel?
Are you at Neshaminy creek in the first part of the video?
Why do you always have the numbers have a lot of fish but we don’t get to see you catch all of them??
Hi, i'm intentioned to buy the 70mhf2 3/4 Oz to use for in shore and near shore for European Seabass, some cuda yellowmouth and Bluefish that are the target in my country, fish of the order to 4/12lb, do you think can i use It for this kind of fish? In terms of size for what kind of fish Is used the 70mhf2 in your country? And what fish u catched with your model? i know this rods are very tought and in general are understimated so i wanna know if it can afford some Sea fish like bluefish not much big ore some Seabass or Yellowmouth Cuda just i said before
I just knew the first fish would be a bluegill. What else could it be on extreme Philly fishing lol
Is this the newer version of the rod?
Leo I just put a new order of the 1inch epf swim OF 2022.
Do only certain species of small mouth bass have red eyes?
Neither my budget nor my fishing skill will allow me to spend that kind of $$$ on a rod, but I do have a St. Croix Triumph 2pc ML a (much, much) cheaper, just waiting to get time to break it in!
And here I am sweating about buying a $100 rod 😂
I really like that Asian tradition.
If you can catch a fish at vogel state park in Georgia, I will buy you lunch
meanwhile im over here with my 80cad and 76cad rods lol, tho i have multiple reels at 200cad....
A lot of money for a rod state side. Why not got go JDM at that price point?
I prefer "better value" equipment, lol. I do however have a few St. Croix rods, can't help it.
I know the demand for a high end market. But why is there a fishing rod worth $450? You can catch fish with a stick you find on the ground and some line.
Congratulations nothing wrong with spending every once in a while.golfers spend that on putters and still 4 putt. Heheh
A $450 rod for pan fishing?🤔
Whoa, wait, your asain?
Using a $450 rod to catch bluegill 😢
Next get a g.Loomis NRX+
Or a Steez AGS 😈
@@TerpDerp both lol
Actual cost to make it, $45.
EPF please no hooks in rod eyelets 😭
A cane pole you can catch just as many fish as at 450 rod or any other rod. I just don't get it to pay that much money for a rod, who are a $5 Rock and catch the same thing that 450 Rock can. What's the determinology behind a buying something for that mouth money when you can use a $20 rod. I don't get it
i will guarantee you that you are not outfishing someone using good gear with a stick and rock, you sound high af and stupid. Be a cheap ass without the ignorance. If you have never fished other than walmart garbage and sticks HOW THE EFF WOULD YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE…
you dont… so stfu
$450??? Does this thing do the dishes and laundry too lol
I notice you only buy expensive rod , but don’t buy expensive fishing reel (spinning), besides your Antares DC lol
“Heyyyyy Whats Up RUclipseeee!!!!!” :,(
That's one hell of a strange accent there, it's like a mixture of some kind of Chinese accent with a Texan accent or something.
lmao
I wouldn't spend $1 on a 2 piece rod let alone a $450 rod. 2 piece rods suck.
I really can’t believe you paid $450 for a little spinning rod and you’re fishing with bait and a bobber for bluegill…. 🤣
Don’t get this wrong….. I too own a $450+ tax St.Croix rod ,.. but it’s a 12’ conventional Avid series surf rod…. And it’s really bad ass ..!My point is … I feel that I got more for my money than the tiny spinner…. Just sayin….🤗
I understand times are tough and people want to save money any way they can but eating stocked (G.M.O.) fish can be detrimental to your long term health... these DFG stocked fish by the government are genetically modified and we really don't have a clear concept of what long term exposure to ingesting GMO's can do to a human being. Best thing to do for one's health is eat wild fish from clean waters... I prefer open ocean fish... taste the best IMO also.
Spends $450 then puts his hook on the rod guide😢
