    Drayton-
    Im an Nscale modeler that puts their heart and soul into realism and I only buy the highest line cars from manufacturers that fit in my modern NS era. I know most prototype modelers are in HO, but I can assure you Nscale has come a very long way. Thanks to you guys especially, as well as other manufacturers, I can pretty much find any type of modern freight car I see on the rails today in their Nscale versions. On the scenery side of things, I find making supertrees and buildings, wild grass, etc, easier (in some cases) and more realistic in Nscale, simply because you can have a more realistic area to work with thus not making a scene feel cramped. Where im going at with all this is that if the right steps are taken, you can easily make Nscale look just as good, maybe even better than other scales these days. Thank you guys for helping create perfect Nscale products and helping grow the realism of Nscale. Hope this helps you with your potential decision to make the switch!

    Great video on the history of the SD40-2. I grew up seeing those units from the time they hit the rails. I’m a Southern fan because the way they run those units long nose forward. I have all six Southern units. I have also per ordered the Norfolk and Western units and a Conrail. Thanks for sharing. 😎😎 👍

    Very cool Drayton! By the way, speaking of the Chessie System, TRAINS Magazine did a great article on the railroad years ago in an issue titled "That 70s Issue", and if you think the scheme itself screams the 70s, how the Railroad unveiled it puts it over the top! Its well worth the read!

      I have a BN and a Southern high hood. When pulling a long train, I found that the Southern high hood pulls better short hood forward, while the BN unit works well both ways. Same with pushing a long train.
      The Southern unit struggles pushing with the linh hood forward.
      Not sure why this happens.
      Not sure what CVs to change to make it match the BN unit

    Beautiful Models, just Fabulous in every area!!! One thing that needs to be fixed, is the brass strips on the inside of each of the trucks needs to be hidden somehow. They do stick out like a sore thumb, and I'm aware of several modelers who are really put off by this. I can't be the first to comment about this. Thanks for such great products guys!!

    • @Scaletrains
      @Scaletrains  6 месяцев назад

      We appreciate the feedback! Biggest caveat on the truck assembly is balancing all around performance with higher detail, without sacrificing much on either front. A simple contact delivers great power, and keeps extra costs down from requiring another piece to fit on top. We will keep it in mind for any future equipment! -Logan

    I have both a BN and a Southern high hood unit.
    The BN unit runs great, but the Southern unit pulls long trains high hood forces and struggles long hood forward. Same with pushing.
    The BN unit works well both ways.
    I reset the decocoder and not sure what CVs to adjust

      If you have access to an ESU Lokprogrammer, I would re-write the data from the factory soundfile to the Southern unit. Soundfile is available on our site, otherwise a CV 8-8 should reset the locomotive. If issues with it continue, contact our service team and they can assist further with any issues. -Logan

    Hi ScaleTrains! I just bought a CSX sd40-3 and it’s great! I accidentally chipped a tiny piece off the CSX yellow line that runs through the locomotive. It’s the same color as the CSX logo. So I was curious about what type of paint of yellow paint do you use for the N scale CSX EMD SD40-3

    How sharp of a turn can the units take?

    • @Scaletrains
      @Scaletrains  6 месяцев назад +1

      The engine can take a minimum radius of 9/34", however we recommend an 11" curve. You can't go wrong with a wider radius to make both engines and rolling stock happy. -Logan

    • @Scaletrains

      I'd suggest checking to see if the tank screw is sitting flush on the side that hits the frog. If not, unscrew the tank cover and see if re-seating helps out. Stay tuned for more on this. -Logan
