Was it the trems on the "bayaya"?
You a trumpet player?
Finally some guitar on this channel but all you care about is piano, piano, piano... Unsubcribed.
Okay but what about the guitar players. We exist too 🥲

holy shit as a vocalist i am stunned by her sound. her tone quality, the control she has, the precision at which she navigates the different ranges in her voice, oh my god!!!! she is phenomenal
She's right up there with Edith & Ella..
I thought that was a breed of musician that had died out...
I'm not easily impressed.. I'm profoundly impressed by this.
to say it's impressive would be an understatement. her sense of control is absolutely astounding. truly phenomenal!
She is amazing
@@cassettestore who is she?
@@nenyeo6090 Laufey
Can we talk about on top of her voice, her guitar playing was *phenomenal* . Literally makes it seem so easy to play and sing
The chords are not that hard to play, it's a simple pattern. I liked her dynamics.
@@CalebePriester standalone they aren't but while singing intermediate stuff becomes hard suddenly, at least for me and most people
@@lukaskuipers7791 Practice, practice, practice. Start with basic stuff. Simple chords, maybe one stroke every measure and then work you way around it. Play two strokes every measure, then four, then try to arpeggiate the chord, all of that while singing of course.
I see people saying "I can't do this and I can't do that". That's a bad mindset. We can do anything we want as long as we put the time, energy, sometimes money, into it.
Now, of course there are things that are impossible to do, but you got the point. One time I saw this guy playing guitar with his feet because he did not have hands! lol And he was playing pretty good! With one foot he was fretting the guitar and with the other he was picking the strings.
@@CalebePriester yesss you are right. Whenever I'm just playing chords and chord melodies I always imagine how great it'd be to sing along with my playing, but whenever I try I'm disappointed. Just means I need more practice and patience.
@@CalebePriester i like your viewpoint
Her grandfather was a legendary violin professor in China's Juilliard. The classical precision and training shows in her playing.
I was shocked when Laufey revealed in her TikTok that her family was full of musicians. Her twin sister is a talented violinist and they said that their mother is also a musician. Now you're telling me that their grandfather is a legendary violin professor? It runs their genes.
@@coffeetoffee6589 if we’re being honest it’s not a question of genetics… it’s about means.
@@dreampinkreel wrong. it's not about genetics or means. It's about having the willpower and discipline to practice. Anyone can become this good with a 50$ guitar and with total commitment, period.
@@zynthio I dare hoping you’re not older than me cause this is quite a simple minded opinion
@@dreampinkreelnah he’s kinda right, as far as talent can take you, musicians like Laufey are at the level they are because of the thousands of hours they’ve put into practicing their craft. Not to say she’s not talented or that her family isn’t musical, I just wanna emphasize how much work musicians put in and how far you can get by practicing consistently
Laufey sounds like a sweet dream; the lower-mezzo range, the rich and round tone, the Disney princess vibrato, and jazzy chord backings.
😊

Good musicianship. Surprisingly deep voice. Lovely tone all around.
how is her voice "surprisingly deep" are you on drugs
U can tell shes trying to sing deep in the intro
@@cringystingy8025 I was impressed by how she was even able to sing that low at all. Most people do not push themselves and they just stay with what is comfortable. Doing this sort of thing encourages healthy development.
@@cringystingy8025 she's got a rope tied against her vocal chords to get this timbre. Look closely.
@@davidpontius1084 lolll a G3 is not that low 😭
I can't sing like her.
I can't play like her.
While she did both angelically.
it's alright
You for sure can play like her at least
Practice, practice, practice...
can you practice like her? If so, then you probably can someday.

oh and the dream before that i was hit by a tornado im not making this up

As a severe arachnaphobe I feel it 😅 I wake up sometimes feeling like something is crawling all over my body. It's great!

It’s so authentic. Instead of just “I’m in love” it has depth. It’s so nice, and so refreshing seeing artists like her get attention.

those chords are straight from heaven

You should listen to This never happened before from the musical Bonnie & Clyde. same key, almost the same chords
I'm so glad you're giving Laufey some attention on this channel! Recently, I've listened to her songs a lot. "Fragile" is amazing and either makes me cry or get goosebumps every time. I don't know how she does it
Yesss I found out about her through this channel her music is amazing
She’s a distillation of so many of the things I love about Ella Fitzgerald and Vera Lynn’s voices. Really wonderful stuff.
Initially odd choice to have the guitar on two staves but definitely made sense with what she was playing and using it for
only way for it to be on 1 stave is to write it 1 octave higher
@@MingJianYap as is traditional for guitar sheet music :)
My main point being that typically you see guitar music on one staff, but because the playing here was mostly bassline and chord filling, the split staves make more sense
ME TOOOO
@@MingJianYap The guitar is an octave transposing instrument. It is notated in treble clef and sounds one octave below what is written.
I really like the vocals!! And paired with the cords this is like a dream..
0:43 (the full bar) is absolutely astounding. Her control is impressive (to say the least).
She’s got such a warm voice. Great jazz comping too. I wanted a guitar solo but that scat section was on point. Definitely subbing.
I'm so glad you found Laufey! She's far and away my favorite female artist. Her gorgeous music plus excellent transcriptions is a dream come true.

@@Seissmo tbh (as a woman) its a bit dehumanizing when there's "my favorite artist vs my favorite female artist"
Like, imagine "my favorite painter" and "my favorite black painter"
Yet since women's accomplishments are undervalued in comparison to men's, now we have to be seperated from them to be able to be recognized for our work and talent.
@@thewooddove2 I understand that, but I think they just meant that (maybe) their favorite artist was a guy or smth, but Laufey happens to be their favorite artist that is a woman. They were just being specific. I’m just assuming here, it was probably just a misunderstanding.
PLEASE KEEP TRANSCRIBING LAUFEY i love these so much

This guitar arrangement is charismatic af, those lyrics made you remember that time - or this time, I hope, for all of you - you fell in love without even noticing. The melody just beautifully reminds you how helplessy happy you are be to have found one that makes it all brighter. Delightful.
Every laufey song is a banger and that’s a fact.
banger😭wouldnt say that

this is my favorite song ever.
No doubt inspired by "These Foolish Things", key and harmony and all. One of my favorite standards and super fun to play on guitar, and it sounds great on a classical like this!
anything laufey composes and sings makes me so happy
This is one of the most simple, beautiful, gentle and well written songs that I've heard in English
My jaw is on the floor. What stellar tone and control!!!
I need to find more music like this. The great musicianship all around, the beautiful voice, and the great harmonies was amazing.
This made my day!
I clicked on this video without intention, but it was a beautiful surprise.
I will definitely listen to this from time to time now! Keep the delightful work up. You have a beautiful voice!
That B is every time givinig me goosebumps.
Her voice is so smooth and beautiful. So is her guitar playing. It’s simply amazing
Astonishing, especially the voice and control! Beautiful thank you both!
God darn it, even the "listening" at 2:41 has gorgeous vibrato
How are there not birds flying into her room in the morning to braid her hair and deer, rabbits and other forest creatures falling asleep next to her bed, while an evil witch tries to sniff her shoes or something I don't know it's been a while since I read princess stories

LAUFEY MADE IT
I can so imagine this being played in a Pixar movie credit scene.
Your technique is absolutely remarkable and your timbre is so beautiful I cannot stop listening. Reminds me of the early days of popular music.
Sounds like "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes", relates to the title of the video and some of the chord structures are quite similar, certainly does sound like a dream
she is such an amazing singer. and the way she can match any mood she wants on a weird variety of instruments is just. crazy.
Crazy vocal control, makes it sound so completely effortless. Amazing
I woke up this morning, walking to my balcony when my wife come with a coffee and a jammed toast. There I was sitting while greeting everyone passing by on the pedestrian... Everything happened with this song on the background, making things move vintage but looks cool and mesmerizing.
Then I woke up, realizing it's just a dream. And I'm still single.
1:38 singing that descending minor 9th is very difficult. Her intonation is excellent
you made my day beautiful!
Marvelous discovery... infinite gratitude for transcribing such an amazing artist sir George!
this feels like a type of song that would play in the background of a starbucks and i love it
Found her on RUclips a few weeks back, her voice is amazing. Could definitely mistake this for background music in a movie set in the 80's where the main character is walking on the streets and doing their daily routine.
Sweet music, tender lyrics. They don't make 'em like they used to but somehow she did. Good music is still being made.
Holy shit that was phenomenal. I always forget that something like this is actually possible with just a human and their guitar
WHAT a vocal. That is something else.
that was absolutely beautiful!
Yes, Laufey is indeed a dream.
I feel like the scatting bridge was so similar in chords to so this is love (cinderella) and I kind of love that that song also played in my head.
exactly what I was thinking too.
Very beautifully done! I love how simple but powerful the cord progression is. Def keep up the great work!
That is so good. What a great voice. So many singers sound so similar today, I wish more sang like this.
thanks, now I'm craving papayas
she sounds like she'd be a true alto! with a little bit more support on the top notes, her voice is beautiful.
Sadly none of my dreams sound like this. Here’s hoping this is heaven.
THE SCATTING
It was most definitely what dream sounds and looks like.
The dream surely sounds like this.
I'm in tears :')
My god, i'm falling.
laufey is ACTUALLY SO TALENTED OMG
A song that sounds very "dreamlike" to me is by, believe or not, Stevie Ray Vaughan. It is called "Lenny" and is an instrumental only. And, as usual, shows what a great guitar player he was. Easily his most relaxing piece to listen to.
I hear you mate, also Riviera Paradise
@@hugocapparelli1253 True. Another great song. I don't think quite a "dreamy" sounding as "Lenny" however. Back in the day (like the 1960's) we would have called Riviera Paradise "smooth jazz".
Which goes to show Charles, there’s at least three definitions of dreamy, yours, mine and George’s. :)
omg so sweet, i really enjoy it, congratulation girl. so dope
She does have an angelic voice wow!
I did not expect the depth in her voice
The music sheet looked way more complicated than the way her singing and playing along looked. She made it look effortless.
yo this was just plain dope, top to bottom
Very beautiful song and very well performed. 💕💖
I loved it, you are beautiful inside and out :)
Loved your voice and energy by the way ;)
Absolutely beautiful piece of music
i wanted to cry this was so beautiful
I'm a woman and straight and gosh am I smitten, so do men even stand a chance? 😂 she's divine just like her voice!
Amazing tone purity.
Dreamy! She sounds like waking up on a warm summer morning, enjoying your coffee and toast.
you sang those low notes awesome. so hard

I wonder how Jacob would harmonize this jewel.
My god! Who is this marvelous woman? She's a stunning talent!
Laufey!!!
Her voice is like the feeling you get settling into bed after a long tiring day of being bullied at school and recieving constant accusations of the smell in our classroom

This is stunningly well played, sung, and just downright sublime
I love seeing young people singing this style of music
Thank you so much for playing🤩

Ah. that was a relaxing massage for the ears.
You gave goose bumps. Im sure you transported many people back in time.
As a person who's heard this song in their dream, yes, this is what a dream sounds like
This sounds like the feeling of something touching you just a bit too softly to register on your nervous system.
Thank _you_ for singing in that heavenly voice of yours
her album was my aoty 2022
This is so beautiful. Guitar music is written with just treble clef, but the one with the little 8 so the notes sound an octave lower then written.
Most sheet music for guitar I've ever used has just had treble clef and no little eight. I just play an octave lower than what it says, my guitar teacher does this too. I've never seen a little eight before. Do you have any examples?
@@halfwayinfinate6342 the little 8 is implied, sort of. It's typically not actually written though. Double Bass sheet music is the same way, just with bass clef.
