The fact that he connected the dots so quickly when it came to what happened to Nishimura's mother means he's not as clueless as we thought
He’s clueless, not stupid. I’d say that’s what’s going on.
The moment he realized that the nickname Grim Reaper is downright brutally cruel.
What’s worse is that nobody else knew this, either, as Nishimura never told anybody, otherwise the other kids probably wouldn’t call her ‘the Grim Reaper’, given the implications. After all, they really only call her that because of her usual appearance and demeanor.
He is a good friend.
Takada crying after realizing that he's been unintentionally making fun of Nishimura this *_whole time_* hit me hard. Especially after he was like _"I'm supposed to be your friend. And here I am hurting you."_
Worse. He thought it sounded like he was blaming her for her mother’s death. What’s worse is that Nishimura sadly and wrongfully thinks she’s her mother’s ‘replacement’
I'm really glad they had him realize what Grim Reaper actually meant cause cluelessness is only endearing for so long until it gets annoying.
What are you talking about? It was never annoying. The point of the episode for the viewers, too, is that the absence of Nishimura’s mother is being addressed. It turns out she Amy have died after childbirth, and Takada realizes he may have been saying something incredibly cruel as blaming Nishimura for her mother’s death, the same girl who, atop it all, wrongfully thinks she’s her mother’s ‘replacement’.
So cute!
