Hello, Son has a 2013 with what I believe is a failing tensioner. Makes noise when cold but then goes away. I'm pretty good with the tools but I'm very concerned with that pivot 8mm. It would be terrible to get that far into the job and fail to break it loose or worse yet damage the Allen head. You didn't video any struggles with it. Many other videos talk about the difficulty of removing it , but all seem to get it out. How was it coming out for you? Did you spray it first? Thank you sir
@@tomm2271 Honda does a very good job of assembly and the only time they won’t come out is if someone has cross threaded the bolt on a previous repair of if you have severe corrosion. I have done these many times without any issues.
How did you get equal torque on all of the water pump bolts? Just estimated by feel? Also, I've read that the 8mm hex pivot bolt for the tensioner can be a problem removing. Did you have any issues with it?
Timetryp I didn’t have any issues with the 8mm hex but I have heard that others have. I have been doing this a long time and have a pretty good feel for equality on the torque. I use a torque wrench on anything critical.
I have a coolant leak. Not sure if it’s a crack in the engine block or if the water pump is splashing coolant on the engine block. How could I tell the difference?
The water pump will leak near the passenger tire area if you have coolant on the block it is most likely the steel water tube that runs from the water pump across the block to the side by the transmission.
THANKS GOOD VIDEO ! WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND ME ! THEY TOLD ME THIS : SLIGHT COOLANT SEEPAGE DETECTED AT THE WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE ! MY QUESTION , SHOULD I CHANGE THE WATER PUMP OR IS IT JUST A SEAL ? THANKS !

Question: I just replaced my serpentine belt. There were no sqweeks or anything it was basically preventative maintenance. Now its making a noise. Maybe its the new belt, but it sounds like the tensioner. A rattling sqeek sound when you first accelerate in each gear. The belt was super difficult to remove by myself and took TWO grown men just to get the new one on. I used the special tool and when I slowly pushed it finally gave a little, then had some play like that was it but it wasn't enough to remove the belt and then went back a little further, just enough to get the belt on and it would pop loose. I've never experienced that before with a belt and feared it may have broke or something and now this annoying rattle sqweek. The weird thing is that there is still good tension on the belt.
Race4Survival IsAlive the best way is to remove the belt and use your hand to operate the idler pulleys. Feel and listen for roughness or noise when turning and spinning them.
