Blackhole "Caretaker" signal [Voices of the Void 0.5.0]

- The blackhole its self seems to have some sort of alien object that orbits around it. Unfortunately the computer only saves it as an still image so you have to take my word for that.
This seems to be One of the largest signals in the game and also one of the longest to download and longest in overall length.
The song that plays during this signal is the final 5 minutes of the last Caretaker album off of the Everywhere At The End Of Time project, which is about a person (the Caretaker) getting dementia and slowly over the course of 6 albums each roughly 1 hour give or take where the music begins as calming loops of older 1950's music that slowly devolves by getting glitchier and glitchier before falling into jumbles of harsh noises, then into long bouts of drone music before finally abruptly dropping into around 30 seconds of silence as a choir begins to sing out, indicating the passing of the "Caretaker" both as a character and as a project. There are many interpretations as to what the last 5 minutes of EATEOT means. Approaching the Afterlife? Life flashing before your eyes? Terminal lucidity? It's not totally clear and its meaning differs from person to person. I can assume however its inclusion in this game is supposed to symbolize a sort of heat-death or the death of the universe its self as the blackhole swallows everything that encroaches its domain. Perhaps the structure built around it is to protect anything that gets too close to it, as to slow the inevitable destruction of reality its self. Who knows?
This is my favorite signal in the game.
I just got this signal in game. I saved it to the laptop because it was so cool. "Surely this will process into something cool" I think to myself. When you process it, it completely kills the audio. Not even the usual static, just silence. It's like a biologist finding a majestic bird with a beautiful sound, then destroying it by trying to dissect it to find out more.
I got warned about it so I got lucky
i wonder why that happens to some signals, and for those unfortunate enought to not know about it could lose the signal forever unless theyve saved it
I wish I could send the unprocessed copy to the labs. I saved a backup of the signal but foolishly processed the original and sent it off without even listening to what I had done. I have the backups for signals like these, but can't send them. I wonder if there's email responses tied to these particular signals.
@@zeptocreations5507I got a response from Ena for this signal saying "I'll be keeping this drive for myself, don't tell a single fucking person about this or I'll kill you with my bare hands."
This was one of the first signals I got, I never saved it and was insistent on processing it. I want to get it back.
was told by a friend that the melody that this thing plays is in the key of g#, which happens to be the only sound recorded from a black hole
the song is at the key of A# actually
im always learning new things despite knowing this album for years
The thought of finding this from space Is kinda beautiful and haunting at the same time
the signal is also coming from the other side
I had chills on my back when I was listening to it
especially from a black hole
the black hole has what i assume to be an ophanim surrounding it, explaining the angelic "singing" noises
I hadn't actually thought of that - good eye!
Just a side note, "ophanim" is plural, following the Hebrew pattern of using the suffix "-im" for masculine nouns, adjectives, and present-tense verbs. The singular is "ophan/ofan." Edit: Oh, right. They are also often equated to the "Thrones" of Christian angelology.
@@Daniel_Lancelin ohhhh that makes sense, explains why some people say "seraph" and not "seraphim"
@@theincursion5898 Precisely! 😁
Pretty sure it's " an empty bliss beyond this world" by the caretaker playing
@@slate.5367actually Terminal Lucidity from Everywhere At The End Of Time
Upon listening that the black hole signal originated from Caretaker, I decided to listen through the entirety of Caretaker to source the song.
It's the last song in the album, only during the final minutes. The angelic humming only plays after a brutally long hour of droning, heavy nothingness.
this makes me feel sad. not crying sad, just… hollowed. like i forgot about something important and this is the consequence
thats pretty much how i see the structure itself, as if no one has taken care of it for so long, and in the end of the signal it appears to break down and get consumed by the thing it was keeping
You wanna really fuck yourself up with that feeling? Go listen to the entirety of Everywhere at the end of time, what this is taken from. It's a musical rendition of the experience of dementia.
@@positiveanion4085i did it a few months ago and i still havent recovered
I still can't completely get over the impact that I had when playing that audio, it was quite exciting to find a black hole, but it didn't take me long to get my hair on end when I realized that it was playing a melody.
I hope the game continues to be developed successfully in the future, its way of horrifying is very unique compared to other video games.
Never realized that this was from everywhere at the end of time, that's just brilliant.
I just hate how unreactive the "scientist" are
I send them this signal and they are like: "this ain't a level 3 signal, fuck you do it again"
I was expecting something like: "holy shit, this can't be..."
or anything unusual reaction to something like this.
even something like: "the drone was attacked by something wierd..."
I've sent them alien items and foods and got 8 bucks and zero reaction 💀💀
i hope that gets better on the full release
In previous versions, they did have more varied reactions to what you send.
At first Dr.ena was a bit rude because of the level 1 ribbons, but as time went by I sent her level 3 ribbons and she sent me sushi and croissants as a reward for the level 3 ribbons I sent, she's really cute, the game is very calm, so be patient and work like in real life
@@0fcGab Ena is rude to you because she's friends with Kel and its just banter, the Sushi and Croissant are story mode events that happen in specific days
They know what's going on.
I love this game's signals for how random it is, on one instance you have this, the screams of terror from a planet that was attacked by the Red skull signal, and the other noises of space that give you goosebumps. Then on another instance you get a meatball, Space Herpes, Alien catgirl prank video, and one where it just spawns a Duende using your toilet.
I actually thought the choir and concentric rings were alluding to something... Angelic in nature. Almost like you accidentally captured an image of the divine. That it wasn't all just fabricated or something.
i absolutely adore this interpretation
That’s what I thought the moment I saw it.
i thought it was one of the ringed angels at First
easily the best signal in the game, feels like some sort of divine message a mortal isnt supposed to hear in its raw form instead of aliens going “gleep blorp”
This is "Place in the world falls away" from STAGE 6 of Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker OR "13 angels standing round the side of your bed"
Either way. Eerie.
I can confirm it is from the ending on Everwhere At The End Of Time seeing as I've listened to the entire album.
I like listening to Caretaker's albums and this discovery was very unexpected. I want to hug the creator for this "Friends past reunited" signal.
Fun fact: I was listening to another Caretaker's album when I found this signal
First time i got this signal i was streaming the game to a friend late at night, it simultaneously creeped us out, but made us way more curious.
Lot of things can be missed in the game, and more than enough things go unanswered pertaining to signals, entities, places and hell even the other doctors in the emails.
But knowing that the supernatural is just as prevalent as the sci-fi and potentially being directly connected with this sort of angelic choir being projected from a black hole by a super-structure just sets the scale for how little you'll ever understand, IF you're even able to find a quarter of it. the song captures that feeling pretty perfectly too.
The things orbiting around the black hole seem to be some sort of Dyson Sphere
(A Dyson Sphere was a concept involving an artificial ringworld orbiting an object such as a star to harness its energy)
The model of the black hole itself can also be found on the sandbox mode spawnmenu
Not a Dyson Sphere, it is a Penrose Ringworld which is a ringworld built around the blackhole because black hole have a lot of energy that could be harvested.
As a side note, in Stellaris there is a Fallen Ancient Empire that has multiple ringworlds systems, they are called 'The Caretaker', they are a synthetic entity and their memory is slowly or already corrupted or degraded that they can't remember what they are guarding the galaxy of from, this music fits for them.
@@NewNoobie thanks for the correction
@@kpjammerwolf330 My pleasure!
its neither a dyson sphere (not a sun) nor a penrose sphere (which was my assumption initially)
according to eternitydev, the object is a wormhole stabilizer, and the signal is coming from the other side
I got sandbox mode and tried to play a bit before i got kicked out and i could only play tutorial.
I did tutorial, all my stuff saved but i couldnt unlock sandbox no matter how hard i try.
Anyone has the same problem? I really wanna see the model.
i nearly burst into tears when i got this signal myself. i just stood there in stunned, reverent silence for its entire runtime
Really is gorgeous personally, i listened to it blind and the whole time i was left speechless, i was like "bro..."
yknow what markiplier says about space right? about how hauntingly beautiful and alone it is? it's something magical to me. isolated, quiet, very very comforting to me at least
the best part of this game is how rare somethings are to the point we dont even have recorded proof of them
i have been playing this for so long and havent seen half of the random events, wouldnt even know that they existed if it wasnt for youtube recommending them
How long, do you think, that structure will last? It cannot contain it forever.
You know that, right?
due to the way the signal ended
it seems the containment failed.
@@Boomrainbownuke9608 so you were lucky enought to get the signal right on its final moments?
@@mikadosannoji553 we may never know how far away it even is.
but the distance would dictate if it was just as the signal was gotten or it may have already failed before even receiving the signal.
just like how there are stars that look alive
but have already gone super nova due to how far away they are.
the same is true with the caretaker.
@@Boomrainbownuke9608 ah true, thanks
@@Boomrainbownuke9608Maybe this is why you can't process it
I just found this tonight in game, I tough to myself "well this looks fascinating, now I have to take a listen just in case it contains some actually listenable audio, and than I'll go to bed. (at 3am)"
at least its billions of miles away if not more, and it could also be gone by now due to the audio cutting off
@@mikadosannoji553 or billions of light years away, so it likely no longer exists :.(
In my view this symbolises the totality of progress of species, given that the black hole is contained within a dyson sphere I think it shows both the elegant beauty of a species' full potential and might and also the inevitable fact that the universe will have an end, even despite the capabilities of that species, it is both astonishing and also terrifying. This song would play very nicely into that considering its place in the Caretaker. As a species progresses further and further it only comes closer to the extremes of its potential and also closer to its inevitable demise.
I came to this video to see if someone else reached that exact conclusion. After all, how much farther can a species progress after building a dyson sphere around a black hole? It's a testament to how far you can come as a species, but also a reminder of the limitations of the void we find ourselves contained in. The ominous angelic humming is almost like a message that says "Behold, the end of all things."
do you think we will be able to reach these levels of technology before we destroy ourselves? i hope so
@@mikadosannoji553 Great question, as things are going right now, the chances are rather slim.
Nonsense, if the species was surrounded by stars they could harvest and failed to expand they were stupid and primitive.
@@JohnCena-le1jj the void is still our limit, theres only so much a species can do, as far as us people know travelling out of it is just a theory, but it might be possible for them
That melody won’t keep it asleep forever
this without a doubt shows that the void indeed has a voice and it speaks that of sadness
I've just got the signal and I knew it was from EATEOT
Now you have an radio without finding hole
Вообще когда я впервые увидел эту черную дыру, я подумал это ангел(в смысле как его ранее изображали), а потом прослушал сигнал и еще сильнее убедился в этом.

An advanced civilization could theoretically survive long after the last stars in the universe burn out, by harvesting rotational energy from black holes via the Penrose Process. The megastructure in this signal's image could be built for that purpose. A song from Everywhere at the End of Time playing during the signal seems to support this theme of the heat death of the universe. Maybe these aliens are preparing ahead?
(edit: I know the dev said it's a wormhole stabilizer but it's still fun to think about!)
Initially, I thought that these rings were built around a once-living star. But as a result of the gravitational collapse, the energy source, the sun, turned into a black hole. This megastructure was de-energized. All that was left to do was broadcast this song.
I didn't realize where this was from when I found it in game at first. In the original piece, this is a musical rendition of a phenomena known as 'terminal lucidity,' where around 1/3 of people with dementia will often seemingly recover their minds almost completely for a short period before their deaths. At this point, their brains are basically sponges filled with holes and plaques, completely destroyed. In my opinion, there is no real scientific explanation of the phenomena, it is basically a psi phenomena, similar to children who remember memories of past lives.
The wormhole sounds like the coalescence of departed souls singing in an invisible choir considering this is the sound it makes. Kinda has that emotional aura of sadness that Wet Dry World from SM64 also has.
That is not a black hole...
It is a wormhole and the rings are wormwhole stabilizers.
same same thing bascially
@@AveriV1 wormholes collapse if something goes in.

I heard this on a video sounds of space but didn't hear it all the way through it kinda sounds like a chorus singing in a melody it's really beautiful
Me when my place in the world fades away
theres something thats so about how it ends in a mess rather than fading to silence
oh wow i couldnt even recognize it at first because of how distorted it is
I think, by using Viktor Strobovsky and UDGame, that this is black hole stabiliser made by rozitals...
When I got this signal for first time, I was thrilled, but remembered, that I playing as a scientist, who is highly trained professional who doesn't need to hear all this
A lullaby of existential doom

Bro when I recorded this my drive exploded wtf
I found this signal and thought it was interesting at first, then I go over to the radar and see 35 entities located near Romeo and proceeded to lock all doors and darted towards the cellar and sat there looking at my missing texture portrait to comfort me.
when i bought the radio i immediately got this signal as well as the hoborg signal straight after and i thought it was interfering with the sensor
if anyone wants to know when joel finds this its on episode 4 38:41
First time I found this signal, I was playing 0.7. I was kind of mesmerized by it since it was the first signal I got that wasn't a planet or an ariral ship.
When I tried to play this signal at full processing, a transformer went down two seconds in, and I didn't notice that until I saw the electricity arcing down the power lines.
So I sat there for a few minutes wondering if I should delete the fucking thing because who knows what kind of curse of god i just saved since I did already know about The Evil.

this signal was one of the first i received. i created a box with "cool signals" especially for him. but, as I want to point out, in the new version 0.7, the sound is much cleaner and less interference. the third level sounds identical to the zero one, sort of like
I am watching this video right after getting this signal, I thought it would be better to clean it up, and then it just vanished((
Thats a wormhole btw the real black hole has one ring.
and yet it'll still be worth barely anything
I didnt know rozitals like opera
I got this signal and for 15 minutes even with the download levels all the way to 16 it only went up 9 percent 😭
I literally got to 54.6% and there was a power outage and so I had to restart
Okay me like myself theory about that signal, no ophanim's, no end of time song, that signal it is just Space Anthem on universe. Life song of all universe. When i listen signal, i start have idea about space create, how humongous celestials collides, explodes, create all lifeable planets, unreal structures of space, world creating... It is that, what me like, and better
well thats totally not concerning in the slightest
