I think, when it comes to MMA, featherweight lightweight and welterweight are the most well rounded, because when training with people outside your weight class, they’re in the middle. They have to adapt to the speed of the lighter weights when sparring, and have to adapt to the power of the heavier weights as well. Once a fighter can blend those two aspects and make his or her own improvisations they become a threat. Only few middleweights, like Adesanya or Robert Whittaker or most recently Jared Cannonier, fit that discription.

I want to believe Dan can do it, but it has to be now. He's been in UFC since what, 2013 or 2014, so almost a decade now. He has to win every match to a title bout and still the stars will have to align. Bisping is the blueprint. He rattled off a few wins at about 10 years in the UFC, got his chance on short notice, and now he's known as a champ. I wish Dan the spirit and would love to see it.
