One of the unique things about cats is the so-called "cat purr." Cats make a purring sound, mostly when they feel safe and secure. It's not a sound they make with their mouths, but a vibrating sound comes from the chest. Our first cat mainly purrs while eating or when we pet its back. Our second cat is very affectionate purrs frequently, even from just being brushed. When I hear and feel the purring sound and vibrations from my cats, my worries and pent-up stress all seem to melt away.
