- Hey guys and girls, here a look a my Irish numismatic coin collection, all are from the irish central bank collector Unit.
They're all silver proof coins that i've collected through the years, most are contributions to the european silver program. The silver coins come with a box and certificate of authenticity, none of the coins are minted in ireland but are released here.
Hope you enjoy these Irish coins, any question let me know

Amazing coins. I'm here in Dublin. I stack mostly gold because of the VAT on silver. Great video, liked and subbed.
Nice one thanks for saying so, chat soon
Nice showcasing of proofs there. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks man
Nice video. I've only a few coins but had to have the 1916 coin for the design and history.
Fabulous collection. I have just begun to acquire some of these!
They have some very nice designs but for the last few years i have not been a big fan of there stuff
The Strike & Lockout coin is cool, and still available, I'd thought it would have sold out
Nice video. I collect some of these myself, although only the ones with the Percy Metcalfe animals' designs. I have a couple of the older non proof sets which showcase all the coins with the animal motifs, and I have most of the ones you have, even the two ECU coins. I was very excited when the animal sets came out and even got all of the uncirculated sets from those years as they came with cardboard booklets showcasing the particular animal. Don't know why they weren't more popular. I'm still missing the silver proof Hound and also the 1990 red deer punt proof, although I wasn't aware it was silver. Thought it was a cupro-nickel proof. I always wished they continued with the animal themes as frankly the commemorating people on coins bored me to tears.
Im with you Bax, i love the animal coins too, i think it was the combination of the time they were released in the recessions and bad marketing, they do now what they're doing in the coin collector unit in Ireland. There was a great chance to tap into nostalgia, thy clearly didnt do that. The red deer in proof came in both silver and cupro-nickel.
Nice selection of coins. I bought a couple of these last year. Kennedy set, Brian Ború Gold coin and a few others.
Yeah the kennedy set is nice, think its close to being sold out
New subscriber here! Good luck with your channel and your silver stack!
Thanks 👍🏻, chat again
Nice collection of coins you have there nice show new subscriber here
Yeah i love them, theyre nice to have chat soon
This was a cool video thanks, I went to school spending the old £ s d. system, was 15 when we went decimal so I'm now on my third coinage in Ireland. I don't stack but only collect coins issued for circulation, with the exception of proof issues of same such as the £1990 proof in cu/nickel and the £2000 in silver. It's a pity the Sandyford mint closed, it now appears Irish coins are minted in Germany, Holland Croatia etc. I did like the nod to Percy Metcalf with the barnyard series and the nod to the old ploughman notes series.
Yeah, I think the animals of ireland releases were the best they ever released
Great looking batch of coins my friend !!!!😁👍🏻👍🏻
cheers Mike, hope its still sunny in Manitoba
Nice collection you have there!
Thank Capital
Great selection of Silver Proofs there I have most if not all of these and the animal designs are among my favourites of them as well as the GAA and the James Joyce coin but I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you on the later releases as I like the design on the 2018 Woman's Right to Vote coin and I think the 3 Music Legends series was a great idea with good looking coins plus low mintages as well that have seen the two coins released so far sell out quickly and rise in value in a very short time making them great value for money , if you were lucky enough to get hold of one at the release that is !!!
Hey john, They had some nice releases in the past. The 3 music legends is a great idea and will sell fast, from a business standpoint it's a good move, but in terms of the design there's really nothing i like about them. The women rights coin was nice but the addition of colour, in my opinion , cheapens any coin. But it's great to see lower mintages and i'm glad people are buying them but i would imagine majority would not be coin collectors.
@@Irishsilverstack Haha It seems we'll have to agree to disagree on the addition of colour in coins as I have apart from the Irish coins a lovely 2020 coloured Canadian Silver Proof set on which the addition of colour really enhances the coins and I think the Royal Mint have done a great job on the new coloured Winnie the Pooh range of Silver Proofs , now if only they could get their quality control right lol !!!
Lol , well I'll agree with that 😉, the colour coins are very popular that's what makes the world go round 😂 nice chating john
Did the series stop? 2019 is the last year on the Central Bank website.
No, id say they just did nothing because of covid, their not very professional in there I think its just a thing they have to do, rather than something they're really trying to be great
@@Irishsilverstack Thank you!
Love the animals of course. I do not like the the Dublin Millenium coin because Dublin is older than that, so what are they saying. I don't care for some of the later coins either, they have a Book of Kells coin with no Kells art on it and they have one that is supposed to represent the suffragettes and it would be a good design if the woman in the foreground was a historical person and not just a generic releif, also adding colour to coins just cheapens them and makes them look like something you put on a keychain. I also do not like that postage isn't free within Ireland or at least at a reduced price. Having said all that I love the gold Battle of Clontarf & Rock of Cashel, also the Brendan the navigator coin. There design department in recent years seems to have gone a bit Dublin Mint Office, not quite as bad but not far off. I will be getting the coins I like tho, from Central Banc firstly and then from elsewhere as needed. They are not coins I will ever re-sell, they're too beautiful and stir up a lot of sentiment and some memories
I agree about the coloured coins, very cheap and tacky in my opinion.
Hi man I'm in cork, your a collector more than a stacker are you?
Hey, great to hear from a person in Ireland. It depends, love both and keep them separate but id say im more in too collecting now getting into graded coins.
Keep up the good work 👍
