Thanks Roo, great short review. Tip for smoother panning: hang a larger rubber band (like the one the post office uses) on the end of the handle and pull the band to the side. The movement will be smoother than when you use your hand directly, because the stretching of the band dampens the load.

Thanks for the review. Just received mine, it was the upgraded version (arm only at the right). I use it for my iPhone. Had to return it because the tilt rest position was not vertical (about 20 degrees off).

Tried it, returned it. Any tripod head without a leveling base is not worth the metal it's forged with. Try Smallrig. It put this unit to shame.
Out of interest, if you feel such heads are worthless, why did you order it?
They redesigned the GM24 recently so that the leveling base is now visible on the side rather than under the mount, unfortunately you can no longer detach the pan arm and move it to the left side (so the included Allen key is very much useless). It's a shame as this was not advertised on Amazon but I ended up receiving this new unit.
My main gripe with this head is it does not fully lock (you can always push hard enough to override) and the image shifts downward when locking the horizontal axis.
