BRILLIANT. our ADF is looking so modern so strong and fit and very capable. In my humble opinion as a nurse who cared for thousands of War Veterans from all the combat and major conflicts at The Concord Repatriation Hospital , Australian troops are among the finest in the world. And humble.
Thanks for your service and for keeping us safe in this crazy world of COVID and Totalitarian regimes bullying us and our Pacific Islander brothers and sisters .
It's comforting to know we are able to boast of our freedom and way of life with the fact in mind that we are very well protected.

10 days at Tin Can Bay doing IET training. Pissed down rain the whole time we were out. Advanced infantry, Sgts course all got evacuated out except us because they couldn't get in to get us out. So 10 days of the same wet clothes and boots. My feet were full of holes. Our Cpl ended up with pneumonia. Never been so wet and cold in all my life. Copped a bomb when I handed my SLR back in as there was pitting in the barrel from being constantly wet. 😱 yep, great memories. Did get dropped off in a Huey. That still remains one of my favorite moments. Would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Being ex 3 RAR from the airborne role time I find it utterly incomprehensible that the idea of not having a Battalion airborne parachute capability to deploy to any part of Australia or it's territories within 24 hours at a minimum unfathomable. We all know it was cost cutting and other PC issues only talked about behind closed doors between the Politicians and the ADF "leadership". Did anyone really believe Prime Minister Howard when he said that Commando's were going to leave the highly specialised role and become infantry? it's a bit like saying the SAS will become infantry....oh except in Afghanistan causing them to be over worked....etc there's another pc decision

Ain't no way any country other than the USA could logistically send more than several thousand troops, and about 60 fighter jets to remote ol' Australia and keep up the resupply without being hit by our AirForce. We have no land borders, in other words anything we have to fight has to get here, let alone land on our beaches, and as I said USA is the only nation capable of that and they're our friends. This is true.. The ADF has 80,000 personal with only 10,000 combat troops. We cant defend Australia with 10,000 people. New York city has more police then Australia has infantry. Our equipment is high tech but you still need boots on the ground.

You do realise nukes aren’t everything... conventional armies are always the first responders, if there is a nuke then everybody is screwed, plus Australia having nukes just makes us a bigger target.
