Hearing that final goodbye by Bob Jenkins again made me teary-eyed. Growing up, Bob Jenkins and Paul Page narrated NASCAR and Indy Car for me, and yes I do mean narrated. The best broadcasters have a way of weaving a tale during the race and making you feel as though you're sitting with your parents listening to them tell you a story. He was one of the best to ever bring us a race live, and not many have ever had such a gift like that.
Bob Jenkins is my favorite Broadcaster of all time period. There is nobody that brings as much passion and excitement to every lap, whether it the middle of a 500 lap short track race, or the final lap of the Indy 500, or the first lap on a street circuit, Bob was the best. If I ever get an opportunity to be a race commentator, I will use Bob as the standard to which I hold my performance. Well done!
One of the most incredible races I've ever seen. Speed, action, 500 miles, controversy, and an exciting finish, everything a race fan could want and more
I was a nervous wreck and sick to my stomach all race. Baltimore almost gave me a heart attack in of itself. It's always amazing when your favorite driver has a shot at a championship, and even more so when he wins it. It's been several days and I'm still celebrating. It's almost surreal. Congrats RHR! You've persevered and you're a champion!
My buddy and I got to go see this race. It was my first oval live (after going to Long Beach every year since 2005) It was AWESOME!!! Hope they make this race a regular on the schedule every year, I'll be there from green to checkered flag everytime!
I went to Fontana for the last 3 years and 2012 was the best race of them all. Dramatic from beginning to end...not to mention that the temperature was103 degrees to start the race. It sucks that the final is in Sonoma next year. It definitely won't have that "championship" feel that a race on a high speed oval does.
Mike Conway says that he is not confortable on racing ovals and does not want to race on them. Wade Cunningham took over for Conway. Remember the Englishman got wounded in 2010 at Indianapolis when he broke his leg and suffered a compression fracture of one of his thoracic vertebrae and has been fitted with back brace and had to sit out for the rest of the season? Scary. He did the same thing in 2012 in Indy, but was uninjured. Also, let's not forget the 2011 death of Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas.
Exactly...it is so great to be able to follow the cars around the track. It was so hot in 2012...103 degrees both days I was there for qualifying and the race. This year Sabastien Bourdais was on my connecting flight at Dallas. I was surprised to see him travel alone.
I always feel so sad for poor Simona de Silvestro in the oval races from 2012. Even at the start you could tell her Lotus engine was so far behind the others
I felt so bad for Will Power to miss the championship 3 years in a row by crashing out on the final race. At that time, I really wanted him to become champion because it's the 3rd time he tried to become champion and he had a decent lead over Ryan Hunter-Reay. I really felt that Will Power deserved to become champion this year and I was confident that he would win. But looking at the statistics 8 years later, it was actually the perfect thing that Ryan Hunter-Reay became champion in 2012. It was the only time in his career that he had a chance to win the championship and he did it. But thankfully, Will Power went on to become champion in 2014. It took him a long time to find redemption but he did it. Never give up on your dreams. That's how you get through the toughest and most heartbreaking moments of your career. Firstly, you make mistakes, secondly, you learn from your mistakes and thirdly, turn these mistakes into achievements.
Indycar, thank you do much for posting the complete races to RUclips this year. I hope for live streaming of the broadcast and other technology can be added for the next few years.
We got general admission tickets, pit/paddock passes and scanners for two for total of $90 (45 each) There were more people than it looks. The stands go for a whole mile along front stretch and parts of turns 1 and 4. I'd say about the middle 50% of the seats were filled. The seat sections on both ends were closed We actually sat in the upper premium seats hehe :)
I went to my first IndyCar race this year (Birmingham). It was awesome; we got to get up close to the teams and see the engineers, cars, and drivers in the paddock area. The race was really good, too.
Large crowd and great race last night. Too bad they don't race here a couple of times a year. I've never been to a road race, but I can't imagine its better for a spectator than a beautiful oval like this where you can see the entire race and follow all the action around the track.
Fantastic race. RHR was SO lucky. Not only did Power crash, but he capitalized on the misfortunes of Briscoe and Tagliani and several other drivers (maybe Sato) to stay alive. Wanting Power to win, it was a little frustrating. But RHR deserves it. Hopefully Power will win next year. On a different note, I think Katherine Legge did an outstanding job. Other than her pit penalty on her first stop, she kept pace. Barichello and Tagliani also did really well. I look forward to next year.
Im not dissing raod racing, if thats who you are talking about. I love road racing, and has/does produce some of the greatest racing ever. I wish i was around to see all those races you speak of.
Crazy how, at least as far as the record books are concerned, both the 2011 and 2012 finales had Will Power going from the points lead to runner-up after some brutal misfortune and Ed Carpenter winning the race by the skin of his teeth. Quite frankly, I can hardly imagine how frustrating it was for both Will Power and his fans, although of course he finally got the job done in 2014 (and then again in 2022)
Would have loved to watch this live, but IndyCar is contracted with BFEtv. Went out to the CART races in 97 & 98 when the track opened. Could not believe that they were doing 240+ mph going into turn 3. Wish the IRL would return to MIS. Even better, light MIS & run the race @ nite!
Its been so long scent indy cars been here at the speedway i hope they come back soon:) also my daugher pick out the wining car number #20 an we won :)
tickets started at at 35, 30 if you got them before the day of the race. That is CHEAP compared to the F1 Houston Grand Prix later this year, that stupid thing is starting at almost 300.00 and parking is around 150. And even in this economy, people from all over will spend that and more to see an F1, even the "99%". This last Indycar race was totally worth it. Good thing I live 3 miles away from autoclub, cant wait for next year.
I just Wonder why after all the hype, excitement, and talk about this the last race of the year, and the championship being decided here at the last race. Also this being the most exciting Indy Car season of recent memory....... WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYBODY!!?? THOSE STANDS SURE ARE EMPTY!!
oh,and there is an infield course, but why use it when there's the speedway. By the way, about 8000 of the roughly 30,000 people that went were in the motor home lot
Yes they could race, only problem is Vegas as a city doesn't want it. Even with all the promotion and free tickets only 20,000 showed. Sure IndyCar could race again at Vegas, but it'd be a loser of a race. Worse than Kentucky in 2011.
World championships? Literally one race outside of North America. Nonsense. Commentary team were god awful back then too. Full season was a joke with stupid decisions and ridiculous penalties all to get someone as bad as Shunter Reay the title. Black mark on the series second year running.
RIP Bob Jenkins. One of the greatest to ever call motorsports
Rest in peace Fontana Super Speedway. Always loved you and will miss you
RIP Fontana Super Speedway 1997-2022
Remembered by everyone forever
And to Bob Jenkins.... He is the true voice of Indycar.

I miss Barichello. It was nice having him in this series.

He’s a great role model

Thank you IndyCar for posting full race replays this season! So awesome! I can't wait for next season already!
Love indycars' and NBCSN's decision to publish these! Thank you!
Thank you INDYCAR and NBC once again for a great broadcast and a great race.

This is an instant racing classic. I was there!
Had a fantastic time at this race !! Hope they are returning next year! !!!

Boys: 4:00:35

Awesome finale lots of drama and most importantly no injuries. Looking forward to 2013 . Thanks Indycars for these postings much appreciated.
Indycar, thank you do much for posting the complete races to RUclips this year. I hope for live streaming of the broadcast and other technology can be added for the next few years.
Im going this year, cant wait this Saturday.
YEP! Already made plans with my buddy to go this year. Can't wait!

Thank you so much indycars youtube for an amazing indycar 2012 season.
Hey, I can see myself in the pre-race show!

Sato almost wiping out rhr forgot about that one lmfao
The last IRL champion from the US was Sam Hornish Jr, last CART US champion was Jimmy Vasser in 1996.
i went to that race and im going this year
I'm going this year, I already have tickets.
Im not dissing raod racing, if thats who you are talking about. I love road racing, and has/does produce some of the greatest racing ever. I wish i was around to see all those races you speak of.
I remember attending that race and coming and I was actually pretty concerned about it coming into the race
I wussed out last year, it was like 105 degrees. Will definitely be there next Saturday.
I agree with you 100% It just boggles the mind!!!
Be there tomorrow ohhhhh yeaaaahhh!!! :D
true, and jgtc used it back in 2004, but for somereason i dont think indycars would be all too fitting on it.
I didn't go this year, but I went 2013 and I'm going this year.
What happened to Hildebrand

It’s a crime this racetrack is no more.
Best race ever!
Its been so long scent indy cars been here at the speedway i hope they come back soon:) also my daugher pick out the wining car number #20 an we won :)
What a disgrace! The best racing in the world and there's about 5000 people in the stands....I cannot stand the NASCAR mentality in this country.
He's good on them now
tickets started at at 35, 30 if you got them before the day of the race. I was there too. There were lots of people. At least 50 thousand... It was so hot though!!! And of course sato crashed on the last lap again
Its a month later this year, should be better weather.
God bless Sato!
haha im glad i helped!

Yes thank you. I have no idea what I was saying there haha
1:05:25 green flag
true that
The mr. Oval Ed Carpenter wins
Hello, we're talking bout auto racing. tix prices, souls there ,vendors-who cares, it's about RACING.
finally an american won! but hopefully next year Will Power could win, he really deserves it.
1:31:45 will power crash

Will Power is IndyCar's Kyle Busch. Incredibly talented, but doesn't have his head on straight enough to seal the deal
I’d consider Denny Hamlin NASCAR’s Will Power before he won his first Championship.
Kyle Busch has won two NASCAR championships in 2015 and 2019.
hes canadian..
No fast forward or highlights?
World championships? Literally one race outside of North America. Nonsense. Commentary team were god awful back then too. Full season was a joke with stupid decisions and ridiculous penalties all to get someone as bad as Shunter Reay the title. Black mark on the series second year running.
Not with his attitude he won't. Hinchtown will make it 2 in a row for the Americans
0:00:27 is why Will will never win a title. You can't expect everything to go your way 24/7, you gotta make it happen
And the joke's on you..
He won in 2014
