not really much going on but it's been fun for me so far.
It blows my mind that a 1080 Ti is more popular than even any of the budget range AMD cards. Insane
well its AMD.
@Flammenwerfer yes id bet all the AMD cards where mining instead of gaming, maybe in a year or two they will pop up big as they get unloaded from big coin farms on the used market
only 1.5% for a 1080ti and 3% for 1080 is pretty nuts to me. I'm surprised it's that low. But I guess not all gamers need high end cards.
I bet most people that have a 1080Ti don't even have a high refresh rate monitor or a QHD / 4K monitor. Just a bunch of people spending way too much money on a card that is complete overkill for their system because they don't know any better.

Interesting how the HDD space declined in 2017-2018, I believe that's because people buy more SDD's than HDD's and they are smaller.
and cloud storage is more prevalent.
Most people use an SSD for primary storage and OS , and a dedicated Drive for steam. Steam may only detect the drive for Primary OS installation, maybe that's why.

We are doing similar charts related to tech.
if Radeons are almost not used anymore for gaming there is a reason
what this chart doesn't show is that AMD power both leading consoles so there's still an enormous amount of them out there plus AMD had enormous financial difficulties which they remarkably turned around with the launch of Ryzen which we all thought was a bit of a fluke comeback. Little did any of us know, not even the hardest techies reporting the news. That AMD in fact had a plan to completely take over the market across the entire range from entry level to data centers high end servers. And they've made amazing leaps in just a few years towards that.
It still looks bad on the GPU front because Nvidia really do have a massive monopoly now and AMD have focused their efforts on gaining back CPU marketshare but if you take a closer look at the server side, data centers and enormous installations of processors. You'll find AMD is there with not only some of the fastest GPU's but they're at a scale now that even Nvidia must be started to get worried about.
For instance Googles Stadia which is set to become the worlds largest gaming platform if it isn't already. All the GPU's that power that are AMD. So that really looks good for a comeback from AMD in PC desktop gaming and I think we'll start to see a real shot at a comeback either this year or next. Nvidia have really taken a huge gambling on their ray tracing hardware which is very expensive to make and that's pushed their GPU prices higher than at any time in gaming history. I mean the leap from one generation to the next. AMD could and should take advantage of that and just bring out a range of cards that are as fast but half the price with no ray tracing hardware. AMD are developing ray tracing stuff for vulkan that works in software so no special GPU's are needed. So the future is looking bright even though it hurts to see so much nvidia in the charts. :)

Tom Petersen, now Nvidia's former director of technical marketing, has left to work for Intel. Someone held the beer, indeed. Intel also scooped Raja Koduri from AMD two years ago. They are going to be trying to make moves back into graphics, soon.
It's amazing how radeon is pretty much absent due to miners and brand strenght. The rx 570 is cheaper and 50% better than the 1050ti.
This is 100% true, but the new 1660 is like 10% faster for 5% less in canada. It's all about perceived entry level. Right now even though the 570 and 580 are great cards, the brand strength of nvidia is just too strong to overcome.
Carlos Cruz It honestly depends on the workload. My RX 570 beats the GTX 780ti in rendering, certain games etc, but my 780ti still wins in cases where Nvidia has -bribed- game devs to run better on their hardware and slower on AMD.
With electricity costs in Poland, AMD is not an option
Really not trying to knock energy cost and their reality but a 100w bulb (in extreme cases this would be the max difference between most cards) burning 24 hrs a day for a whole year is not that expensive. The wattage use between say a 1050 ti and rx 570 is less than 50 watts per hour. Not one to waste money but the price to energy to functionality between a 1050 ti and a RX 570 still heavily favors a rx 570 even in say Denmark the highest cost for energy in the world. This doesn't speak to waste of course.@@GewelReal

RockMAN CHANNEL yes rockman, you should move out from under that rock you’ve been staying at. nVidia is LIGHTYEARS ahead of AMD. They will always be 2 steps ahead of AMD. They aren’t releasing their best cause they don’t have to. Nothing can compete with their GPUs. So if AMD dropped a GPU faster than theirs, then nvidia will folllow that up with a gpu that’s even faster than AMDs new and improved. It’s the companies bread and butter. I think they know that if they lost their ability to produce the best, they would sink like the titanic. Look at intel, CPUs is their bread and butter. They aren’t sinking, but look at the shit storm they have brought upon themselves. You most likely won’t ever see nVidia make that same mistake. So you can bet on nVidia always being ahead of AMD in GPU power and as long as the economy is in a good position, people won’t be settling for a second best GPU....
@@metalhead4404 I can feel the fanboyism from that comment. Amd and nvidia are equals in terms of performance. nvidia does not have some unreleased gpu that will crush competition, they have what they have now. They are simply enjoying being able to raise price in their market dominance, when amd finally can challenge that, they will cut prices when they need too.
@@kennedymoreiras3054 Please name an AMD card that outperforms the RTX2080ti, I'll wait.....
George Blevins it’s not that, the rtx 2080ti never deserves to be 1200 dollars. Every gen the top of the line card has a 30-50 percent jump, the 2080ti is no different, except it’s horribly overpriced. Having the best card on the market is not really what mad is aiming at, less than 1% of gamers will buy 2080tis. They aim for the majority with midrange solid bang for buck cards. 2080ti is nothing special, a good card, but a horrible choice and basically a scam price wise. Nvidia has no ace up thier sleeve, if navi is good they will drop prices, if not then they won’t like what happened after Vega flopped.

Sad that not a single Radeon card is on the list right now. Even more sad when you factor in the fact the RX 570 is one of the best price to performance cards on the market. More people need to buy into Radeon. We need competition for Nvidia so they don't stay stagnant and charge an arm and a leg. We are already seeing them charge through the nose with the new Turing architecture because AMD doesn't have anything that really competes that is appealing. If the Radeon VII was 100 less then maybe more people would switch over...let's hope Navi is everything that it's hyped up to be. I just know that I'm going to be supporting AMD from here on out. Very surprised by the lack of 980s. Such a big boost from the last generation, and still is such a big contender to this day.
970s were very close in performance and cost a lot less
Overclocked Rx 480 or Gtx 1060-6gb gets really dang close to a 980 at much less cost. There wasn't a lot of staying power when it reached end of life status.
980 at the time of launch only served about a 10% increase over the 780ti if I’m not mistaken. The biggest jump was 1080 which was quite literally 70% or about two 980s in sli. Don’t believe that it was that big? I had two 980 kingpins and the 1080 performed better in a lot of areas. Both still great cards especially in the used market :)

Total domination by nVidia in the last few years. Anyway I was lucky enough to afford the 1070. Thing still kicks ass with most games maxed out.
1070 kicks ass? Wtf are you talking about? You must be playing in 1080p. The 1070 is a 1440p card and doesn't do well in it. Gtx 1080 is the new 1440p card. For the most demanding you're gonna need at least a 1080ti.
I had to play Metro Exodus in high settings (and it goes from low-medium-high-ultra-extreme) and I have a Gtx 1070. I even turned a lot of other stuff off. The 1070 is a mid-range card. Doesn't kick ass sorry.

People can average almost 4 core cpu's and 10gb of ram but can't manage 1080 resolution. They got to be slapped
for example most csgo players prefer playing on LOW settings and 4:3 resolution, that's how the pros play it
Fuck your 1080p, 1280x960 black bars for life
Small-sized laptops often don't have 1080p. And if you're building your computer on a budget, cutting on the resolution means you don't need a big GPU.
You NEED a quad core and at least 8 gigs of RAM now but there is no hard limit on the resolution.

Crazy that the top 15% don't know the RX 580 8 GB model is cheaper and better.
In theory, but developers are not optimizing their games to run well with AMD. Shame that the card is hindered by something out of their control.

Еоп твою мат блать only games witt huge Nvidia advantage are Unreal Engine games
It isnt fair to compare 2 cards which were released 1 year apart. To the time most bought the 1060 the 580 wasnt a thing. Also isnt amazing that the lowend card from nV is almost as strong as the flagship released 1 year later by amd? Yes it is. With nV you get solid tech which has lower power drain, less heat, most the time more silent (even tho amd is stepping it up a bit and tjey arent as bad as they used to be), on top of better driver updates, better software and some features like physX or rtx which are maybe not the greatest thing in existence but still are a selling point. Nv is ahead tech wise and therefore is able to have higher prices. They unlock only half of their new chip and still can compete with the full chip by amd. Amd managed to get competitive in the cpu section and it payef off. Stop complaining. Amd has to get better and thats it.

@@deanmoncaster You have integrated graphics though? Intel's integrated graphic solutions are terrible in comparison to AMD. I mean I have a 1070ti so it does not matter to me. Intel's about to be in the hole soon and they are nowhere near value leader. Ryzen 3 comes out in a matter of weeks and the core counts and IPC will be moving the value goal post yet again. I merely suggested that an integrated solution with almost the power of a console in the future may be a good choice if you have Intel graphics. Which in turn are vastly inferior to AMD solutions for far less money. Also AMD will be releasing a card very soon with GTX 1080 like performance for under 300 dollars. If that really rolls through it will also change the game. If you dont game and I am just missing your use case for the hardware than clearly I am mistaken.
