I loved this episode. It reveals many of the elements that were unique to Season 3. More time spent in space, and hence we get to see more Silver spacesuits (always a bonus!), and fewer guest stars. This meant that the story itself often made more sense and was more serious (and frightening!). That ghastly hand was brilliant!! The ghost was silly, but as a kid I was frightened! The disappearing Robinson's reminded me of Dr Smith's immortal line "There is no lower deck!" Zeno is back!!!! That knock on the door spooked me!! That scream of death at the end that emanated from the entity was far too humanlike. It disturbed me, even more so in the upcoming episode where Anti-Matter John fell to his 'death'.
This was one of the better episodes of Season Three.
At that same time on Star Trek, Kirk and crew fight Klingons on the Enterprise because a sparkly alien feeds off hatred.
Actually, it was almost a year later with "Day Of The Dove," broadcast on Friday, November 01, 1968.
this one...the haunted lighthouse...and Promised Planet are my favorites from season 3
@@johnbockelie3899 i hated star trek...too many people on that ship...I love lost in space..fewer people and they were family
Remember I used to be frightened with this episode 🥶
This was the best and scariest episode to me when I first saw it as an 11 year old. I thought will was the bravest kid in the world after his dad disappeared and he was all alone with the creature in the power core room!! Would of been great if all the later episodes were like this one.
The giant claw in the teaser is pure Irwin Allen.
This, The Hungry Sea and the Anti-Matter man were my fave episodes. I also like the Time Merchant.
I REALLY love this episode. On one level- it could ALMOST be a Star Trek script . On the other level- the creepy FEAR FACTOR was amped up greatly ! Then we are treated to a part of the Jupiter 2 that we never saw before . But jeez, the sheet creature could have been something a bit more "ghostly" . Nonetheless; this was Lost in Space at its most ambitious & weird. ...very effective !!
Im pretty sure the voice of the creature is Ronald Gans. He appeared as the alien space enforcer in "Deadliest of the Species" and provided voices in several other episodes. I always felt this was one of the better episodes especially since it takes place almost entirely aboard the Jupiter 2 in flight. Those shots of the ship firing its retros approaching the planet were great. More Abbott- Lydecker magic!
The sheet guy was Dawson Palmer. But the voice was indeed Gans.
This monster is very similar in looks and voice to one seen on an episode of Star Trek the Next Generation. The episode (Skin of Evil?) where a monster killed Tasha Yar.
This is one of the better colored episodes. Although the alien is nothing more than a man with a sheet over him, as a kid he scared the heck out of me. I think it had something to do with his voice. Anyway Will got everything started with his wish to be alone, but he ended up saving everyone.😊
At this point of the series, people thought Jonathan Harris WAS Dr. Smith, forgetting that he was an actor playing a part. Also forgetting the evil character he was at the very beginning of the series. So it was rather a shock for people to see him truly evil again. Even I was shocked when he actually struck Will, as were many. As you said, this was when we knew this wasn't really Smith. One of the few truly dramatic and slightly scary episodes. Not a perfect episode, (these didn't really exist anymore), but the only real complaint was the sheet ghost "costume", and the title, ("Space Creature" is SO lame and unimaginative)!!
Yes, Jonathan Harris found himself thoroughly typecast after this series and hated it.
@@dwashbur Have you ever seen the “Biography” episode on Jonathan Harris? It’s here on You tube; very interesting! Although he was typecast, he loved the attention he got as Smith and was always in his “Smith Persona” for SciFy conventions and personal appearances!
I have not. I'll check it out.
I loved this episode and also the white sheet on the ghost...the voice of the alien was quite strong
@@maxipazz8214 it was Ron Gans ... who may have played the Frog man from the Golden Man. At the very least, it was his voice.
I remember that line. Always made me crack up.
"Id! I-D, Id!"
"You can't scare me with your big words!"
One of my favorite episodes. Watch out Will 13:52 the creature going to pull you in!
This episode scared me until the guy in the sheet showed up. 5 and disillusioned but now that I think about it the alien thinks in childish terms it would manifest a child’s concept of fear (except for me at 5) It was nice seeing Smith steer away from the usual character tropes for a bit but it’s like Judy there’s acting when you’re not yourself.
This was a good episode.
That giant claw was actually the giant cyclops claw prop from season one.
"ID" is not a big word. The concept behind it is another matter.
Ha ha, ha, I'm the Halloween sheet ghost , Ha, ha ha ha!!!!!!.
This show was SO cheesy, but I loved it as a kid!! My only problem with the series, was that Angela Cartwright was not the star character more often! Loved her!!!!!
It didn't start out that way .
@@Obeijin I loved season 3 the most
Shades of "Skooby Doo" with that dude in the sheet.
You forgot to mention that Maureen was the first to figure out how to disappear like you always said
It is interesting....yes, Smith might betray Will...but he would never strike him.
I heard the word comentry on a British sitcom. When they were giving one of their coworkers the cold shoulder.
0:16. And Stargazer is getting into position to do some star gazing! 4:19. In the Sinbad movie where Guy Williams played the title character, he had a famous fight scene with a similar looking hand. I am sure that it was not the same prop. 5:42. Back on the set of "The Toymaker". Where is Mr. O-M? 8:46. Alpha Control took some computers from the Time Tunnel and used them in the Jupiter II. 13:31. Remember "Mutiny In Space"? Zark's ship had magnetic drive. Professor Robinson used a magnetic beam with reversed polarity to pull Zark's ship back to the planet. Here we go again. 14:51. Smith's ankle is stuck between that pipe and the bulkhead. A pipe that we have never seen before, and will never see again. 15:28. Remember that scene in the movie "Mr. Roberts"? Ensign Pulver's firecracker blew up the ships laundry and soap suds went everywhere? Now it is happening on the Jupiter II. 17:16. The "id" "big words" lines of dialogue have been laughed at all over the Internet at various LIS discussion web sites.
This episode had a cryptic and creepy dialogue between the space creature and Will in the engine room. It’s not scary in the sense of classic horror but it’s seriously demented dialogue.
This episode never made any sense since if the ship was air tight, the creature couldn't get in.
awesome!
Any plans on doing original outer limits? Or voyage to the bottom if the sea? They show theses old programs on metv late night. Kinda fun to watch
I don't have any plans as far as Outer Limits, but Voyage is on the horizon...I'm considering doing a whole thing called Irving on Irwin. What do you think?
@@dwashbur I'd love to see an Irwin Allen retrospective. Loved most of his shows and movies (always watched Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno back-to-back). Would love to see you cover "Land of the Giants", but i can't find that on DVD anywhere. Except for other regions, which won't play on ours.
@@dwashbur I like it. Do not forget time tunnel. I like looking at those old shows. Some of those concepts are now fact.

People have no patience to answer questions and are probably more confused than we are -- thus they snap at us.
Will Said , All I want to be Left Alone
So well said !
Flight of the bumble bee is too old for a copyright .
The score itself, yes. But individual orchestras can copyright their performance of it, which only muddies the waters even more.
@@dwashbur Didn't know that .
Interesting ...
I've taken more than one hit for that reason. I have a video somewhere on my channel that uses a snippet of Scheherezade. The orchestra that made the recording demonetized it.
And so it goes.
So, by Season 3 they had introduced a THIRD level (Core), and a Space Pod. Suggestions as to what could have been added in Season 4?
A Star Trek-style transporter? They could have gotten a lot of use out of one.
@@dwashbur along the lines of the instantly appearing/disappearing alien trope you picked up on in LIS! :)
@@dwashbur notice how Penny lasted longer on the ship than the other two women?
Maybe a penthouse with a hot tub and bidet.
Wouldn't the destruction of Will's Id destroy Will as well?
Did Dr Smith go to the Toymakers world ??
It before it was it
Reverse the polarity?? Is this doctor who!!!
Jon Pertwee loved that line! But whether or not it originated with an earlier Doctor, I do not know.
OMGosh, the most boring episode in a show that I think is one of the best ever. I had to force myself to watch about the last 5/8ths of it (or so). Plus it was a little depressing. Not the best episode when locked in for the pandemic.
Are you insane? Questing Beast was the worst. Only episode I refuse to watch.
