I'm very glad i found this video and all the positive reviews in the comments. I just moved into a house with 7 mini splits and was blown away when i found out it's $400 per unit, on average, to service them. Then I looked into doing it myself but the two main pressure washers I came across were like $800.... This port-a-blaster looks sufficient for my needs. Don't need to be spending $500 more just for battery power. Thanks!
The cabinet design is reminiscent of a refrigerant recovery machine. Does this drain itself completely of water, so it could be safely stored in a place where the temperature might go below freezing (such as one's van)?
Yep it does, (we're getting into the low 30s in Ohio already). What I've been doing is unhooking both hoses and running the pump for a couple seconds. While tipping it to the side.
I would like to add that you have some great ideas as well. The milwaukee power station for instance you use with the unit. I never would have thought it would have enough power to operate the unit. I will be doing the same with mine. As you well know, it's hard to find power in some of the areas we get into. Great gift idea for Christmas. My wife is always looking for ideas. I appreciate how diverse you are in your area. Have a great day and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Nice one Rick! I LOVE having reviews from people doing the same work I am, and with the same mindset I have. So I know I'm not gonna end up buying something and being disappointed. Thanks for going in-depth! Hope you had a good holiday with the fam!
We have 2 port a blasters at work. We mostly use them on smaller split units or smaller RTU’s. We have over 10 RTU’s and over 25 MAU’s so I don’t use it on the bigger RTU’s. Instead of a bucket I use one OC those 5 gallon water bottles with the smaller head. Sometimes I’ll fill the water bottle with warm or hot water. I don’t use coil cleaners unless the fins and coils are extremely dirty. I wish someone would come out with a 70 or 90 degree stainless steel piece for those tough angles. Or at least a tip would be nice.
I bought the WORX pressure washer and a adapter to milwaukee battery. It actually works quite well. Its a cheap tool and the attachments are kinda neat. I really enjoy your cut to the chase videos, keep it up.
I love mine. I mainly use it for mini split service and works like a charm. Fits in the van easy and hasn't let me down in 2 years of very light use. Definitely got my money worth already and wouldn't think twice to buy another one
Holy cow I need that! That’s the only thing I don’t like about my Milwaukee transfer is that it’s not made to put a hose nozzle on the outlet side. What it is amazing for is flushing condensate drains and removing water from full drain pans. I’m in FL so that’s an everyday event. I’ve envisioned a tool like this Supco you have and now it exists! Thanks Rick!
They sent me a new wand for it 🙂👍👍. You know how hard it normally is to get behind the evap coils inside walk in coolers. I used it today on a w.i.c EVAP and plugged condenser, it worked great and we're getting in the low 30's here so I hate getting out my garden hoses.
Hey Rick I'm thinking about getting this tool, wondering if the metal nozzle will screw onto the handle without the extension, which will make it smaller for walk-in evaps??
Hey Rick? Where is the video when you make the adjustments to wand. Im telling people about your setup but can't find that one. Only this on comes up when you use Porta Blaster in your search.
Are you still using this little pressure washer? How does it seem to be holding up? It seems to me that it’s a little bit too hard to follow and pressure to do mini split heads But small rooftop package units and walk-in coolers like you demonstrated, it seems to work well on
I bought the Porta blaster last year and didn’t really use it too much. This year I have found a lot more uses for it and really have enjoyed it myself. I agree that there could be a couple different wand angles for when you are in tight spaces.
I cut the wand at the top and used a copper 3/8" 90 elbow, I had a swage it out a little bit and used high silver content to braze it. Probably could have used stay bright 8. Works great!
How’s the Porta Bladter still working after 2 years I’m considering getting one from Truetech and just thought I would check and see how you still like it Does it still work??
Yes it does. I’m surprised I haven’t hurt it. I run as hot soapy water through it when I’m trying to melt stuff or wash evaporator coils coolers. Still working
I showed another video what I did to it, I cut the 3 inch piece and used a 3/8 90. You could probably use stay bright, eight, or any high silver, soft solder, I used 45% silver and brazed it in
I haven't ran it from start to finish but more than enough to do anything you need to do in one setting. I would guesstimate probably 35 gallons or more of water and that's with a 5 amp hour battery.
It's not got the volume that a garden hose has but it does have more pressure, usually water volume is what you need to drive large particles out of the coil, I'd rather have a garden hose but if you're on a rooftop unit that has no water within a couple hundred feet then this might be the best option. The alternative sprayers are no better and they cost between $700 and $900
I think so, the low pressure setting allows good control of the water and pressure. I wouldn't be able to use my Milwaukee on a mini split but this Port a Blaster is handy.
Thank you for saying that about the Milwaukee pump although over on Ted's Channel he seems to have a good experience with it so far from the looks of things
3:15 Frozen soapy secret used by instrument makers and is easy to handle, the mix on the other hand is a closely guarded secret. Also sand packed in a tube works, but very easy to split your tube and finding a rod the right size is a real pain in the neck. The soapy water deal slides and like turns to a sort of clay like slush. Then just rinse it out. I'd have to look it up again to tell you everything. I want to try to the silicone tubes they have for making bends in PC water cooling setups.
Sweet little tool didn't quite catch the name of it I wonder if you heated up the stainless steel tube prior to bending if that would help again great video
I don't get paid to do these reviews, I've given the tool that's about the only payment I get. I've made several videos bragging about it because I'm so happy with it. Is it going to power wash your deck hell no... But is it going to get your stuff clean when you have no water available... yes
Wow, that ice machine was disgusting!. I'm waiting for mi machine to arrive today. It looks like a pretty good setup. Plan on using it on mini-split indoor head units.

@@HVACRSurvival Heck, that glycol will help keep it lubricated. I've managed to use car wash soap in mine, but I pre-diluted it, then used _that_ with the dilution hose, and rinsed well afterwards. I don't think I would use it for that, I prefer hot, hot water and lots of it. But if there wasn't any other way then I'd try it. But I keep 300' of garden hose on my truck
