Thanks Marty ! I’m a 61 year old guy who’s started playing acoustic recently , you’ve done Gord and the boys proud . Great lesson , I’m gonna to work on this now winter is approaching.
I spent Thursday , working in The Hip's hometown of Kingston , I've never seen the death of an artist touch my nation like Gord did. Thanks for the tutorial Marty.
I agree, my nation as well. He was truly the best artist, musician, poet and ambassador for what is good and right from our great Country. He will be forever missed and loved.
Thank you so much Marty for sharing and breaking down these great Canadian gems. I’m from Georgian bay but living in New Zealand atm and learning to play my faves thanks to you. Thanks again
Well done Marty. You play and sing this with so much passion and respect. I’m looking for my first song to try to sing to while I play. You have inspired me to make it this one. Thanks for the tutorial
Agreed on all counts, I miss him too, we all do!. Thanx for your note and for tuning in. Hey, I'm trying to reach 100k subscribers so please spread the word about my channel, it would be greatly appreciated
Great cover of a staple song in canada by The Hip. Gordie would be proud. Thought the waterworks were done when they walked off stage in Kingston. Damn you Marty. Great job brother
awesome tune! one of my favorites. sad to see theses guys go,not gonna find a better canadian band. glad I got to see these guy play a few times! great job!
Great work man. I'm going to try to use your vid to help me play it on the piano. Even though I haven't touch a piano in 20 years lol I used to play. It's my wife's fav song.
I am struggling with the strum pattern. Could anyone give some more detail? I cannot get that natural feeling. I have watched a couple other videos but can't get it right. I need some structure to get it.
Hi Marty, great job.. im new to your channel...you wouldnt happen to play bass and be able to post the bass line for this song would you? Thanks Andrew
This is a simple song to play, but surprisingly difficult to play and sing at the same time. It takes a while to get used to it just because of the timing of the change to the C chord.
That is a great request, I am trying to do a bunch of requests right now but will keep yours in mind for a possible future project. Hey, I am trying to reach 100k subscribers so please if you like what you see, please feel free to share my channel info to all your friends, it would be much appreciated. Thanx for tuning in and good luck to you
I do that on purpose, I hope that the viewer will try to make the strumming thier own a little, I find it helps with learning how to improvise. Hope this helps, good luck with it and hang in there, it will come
Thank you, I'm glad you think so. hey, I am trying to reach 100k subscribers so tell your friends about me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanx for tuning in, good luck to you and take care
Thanx, I'm glad you think so. Hey, I am trying to get 100k subscribers and would really appreciate it if you subscribed to my channel and tell your friends, thanx Salvatore Games • 3 weeks ago
You are very welcome. Hey, I am trying to reach 100k subscribers so tell your friends about me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanx for tuning in, good luck to you and take care
It is a great tune, thanx. I love this guitar. It is a great value as it has a really great sound. I find the real Gibson, resonates a little longer and louder but that's to be expected. The Ej200 is still one of my fave guitars that I didn't pay an arm and a leg for, the best in it's price range for sure.
Thanks Marty. Really enjoy your channel. I'm a newbie to the guitar and watch your easy songs a lot to try and learn how to play. Still struggling with some strums and chord changes as well as trying to sing while playing. With your help I'll keep plugging away. Thanks again. Larry
Thanx, I'm glad you like it. Hey, I am trying to get 100k subscribers, I would appreciate it very much if you haven't already, please subscribe to my channel and tell your friends. Thanx for tuning in and good luck to you and yours
Hi Marty, well done! A great song by a great band! I am a beginner at guitar, and I just have one question: which do you recommend learning first: chords or notes? Thanks!
Thank you, I'm glad you think so. Welcome to a fun instrument. chords and then when you have a foundation, you can get into notes. hey, I am trying to reach 100k subscribers so tell your friends about me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanx for tuning in, good luck to you and take care
Good job.......but you messed the ending up a tad. On the last Wheat Kings and pretty things you should go to a C instead of the usual G, then that leads to the bunch of C-D outro bits then the final C-D-G
I think it's a difficult strum pattern (it's the most complex I've seen yet in my short life as a guitar-learner), i.e. it's "DxxUDUDxxUDxDxDU", or to put that another way, "1 (2) and 3 and 4 (1) and 2 3 4 and" -- that's two measures, of four beats each -- the first measure starts with G -- and the chord change to C happens on the 4th beat of the first measure (not at the start of the second measure). So like "GxxuduCxxudxdxduGxxuduCxxudxdxduGxxuduCxxudxdxdu"
lol, Thanx, I'm glad you think so. Hey I am trying reach 100k subscribers, please pass the word along about my channel to your buds, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx for tuning in, Take care to you and yours
Gord has been out doing some solo shows also this last week. I have been watching the boys since the were a bad 80's bar band. Even got to spend a afternoon in their studio last year while my daughter recorded.
Thanks Marty ! I’m a 61 year old guy who’s started playing acoustic recently , you’ve done Gord and the boys proud . Great lesson , I’m gonna to work on this now winter is approaching.

Great tune and awesome looking/sounding guitar. How do you like it compared to the Gibson?
It is a great tune, thanx. I love this guitar. It is a great value as it has a really great sound. I find the real Gibson, resonates a little longer and louder but that's to be expected. Thank you!!
New guitar? Nice looking
Not new, I've had her for quite a while, just changing it up a little, She's a beauty, and great value for the money.
Good job.......but you messed the ending up a tad. On the last Wheat Kings and pretty things you should go to a C instead of the usual G, then that leads to the bunch of C-D outro bits then the final C-D-G
nice job, do you have the intro?
not in this version, maybe down the road, stay tuned
Great song. Missed the best part though. In the Zippo lighter he sees the killers face.... like a mirror image of what he didn't do but face the time.
Marty, so your C played is a Cadd9?
yup
👍
good gob
Thanx, I am glad you like it!! Thanx for tuning in and take care
RIP Gord Downey, lead singer of the hip who died of brain cancer :(
Soo sad, he will be huuugely missed, RIP Gord
great playing but just add a tuner.... take advantage of those grover machine heads... they hold tune
I had to look twice because something didn't look right. You're not using the Gibson haha. Awesome song and nice Epiphone!!!
Thanx, That is a great guitar as well!! I loved it, great value for the money and sounds great plugged in!!
ya good job Ehh!!
Thanx eh!!
I've seen another "how to" video with a slightly different: if this one is DxxUDU DxxUDxDxDU the other one plays it as DxxUxU DxxUxUDxDU
Marty u sound like the guy from bare naked ladies
lol, Thanx, I'm glad you think so. Hey I am trying reach 100k subscribers, please pass the word along about my channel to your buds, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx for tuning in, Take care to you and yours
They have not retired. Buy probably not tour again.
I agree, I'm sure we haven't heard the last of them on some level, here's hoping!!!
Gord has been out doing some solo shows also this last week. I have been watching the boys since the were a bad 80's bar band. Even got to spend a afternoon in their studio last year while my daughter recorded.
