Thanks for including the practice media with your tutorial. It makes your video UNIQUE and the MOST EFFECTIVE tutorial on RUclips. It's because from my experience, watching a video editing tutorial without practice footage is like reading a book. After that, I have the knowledge but I still can't edit videos on my own.
Hi sir, Sumit Shakya from India and following you regularly, i want to start Tech chennal you are requested to please make a video on tech editing video, thank you ❤
Casey, I just fired it up and thought has anyone done a roundup of all the new features and how to use them, then saw you'd done exactly that 13mins ago... you are my effing hero today mate haha thanks!
Perfect timing as usual @CaseyFaris . We just recorded a Star Wars fan fiction on May 4th. and I'm working on editing it now. Thanks for putting this out!
You sir are not only the GOAT in resolve tutorials but also the GOTO that I say to anyone who’s looking to move over to it from other platforms to check out! Fantastic stuff as ever Casey and thank you! Just to watch as a reminder is super cool!😎😂 🙏
Your voice is awsome. Soft and confident. This video isn't too long. Its a great tutorial showing off all the great new stuff in DR 19 and lots of great workflow tips.Thank you.
Gon watch this after the 4.5 hours of DaVinci resolve 18.6 guide (really helped with the color page) I just don’t understand fusion very well so this could help
I found this video especially useful and interesting. Thanks a lot to putting this one together, Casey. As I'm new to DaVinci Resolve, I found it's difficult to keep up with the instructions and walkthrough. But I'm glad that I followed to the end of the video after several days. I also tried to create the nodes in the fustion for second video clip in the project timeline, with some success but not as good as yours. It would be great to see how to made it.
Simply great!!! Thank you, Casey for this great tutorial, which helps to understand very well how an editor should operate. I hope you can give many more examples to help open my mind. God bless you!
That was amazing tutorial. I start using DaVinci after watching your channel and the guy you mention with the Audio and some others well known in youtube :). Depending of what i need to learn.
The line “over the shoulder” got augmented in my brain with “boulder holder” and I decided to take a break from my deep dive into DaVinci. Nonetheless thank you for all the content.
Another great video. As expected. I am being directed by my wife right now to let you know that she has declared you the Bob Ross of DaVinci Resolve tutorials. Enjoy.
I don't know but.. I feel like after effects special effects like this look so much better. I don't know if its fusion or just if fusion is much more complicated and needs much much more work to get the more realistic look after effects can achieve. I remember watching Andrew Kramer tutorials on light sabers and similar effects from years ago and the effects just looked so much more realistic. I've always felt this way after seeing fusion special effects tutorials.
Hi this video helped me so much😊!!! but can you make a video of how to make that clip that you skipped. Because I don't know how to animate the jedi lightsaber flying to his hand😭
You kind sir , are a squire and gentleman ! Thankyou very much, expect more views and likes as i make my way through your plentiful library of content.👍
Casey, you helped so much in davinci resolve :) But can you make a video of the clip that you skipped. Because I don't How to animate the jedi's lightsaber flying to his hand (@_@)
I love the way you make everything easy to understand! Great job! And your good mood is very contagious... ;-) Btw: Why not let the tie fighters disappear behind the big dish? Adds depth and solves the disappearing-problem...
I cant beleive i went to college for this stuff when I could of got on youtube. Would of saved me student loans, scheduling around..everything. begng people to leave me alone while i study, Dont get me wrong...i love ya professor..but damn...could of saved gas too........and time......and cost of books....and extra breathing and crying . lol
I'm going through this and am only halfway through as I am commenting, but I felt it necessary... in the clip we work on the reflection, the reflection we put in is flipped. The lightsaber should be on the jedi's right hand, but the reflection shows it in the left. I corrected this in mine. I don't know if it is corrected later, but I wanted to make the comment now.
Casey ur AMAZING. Thank you. HEY, one thing I could really use as far as downloadable footage, would be the final product. It's nice when "monkey see, monkey do" I can just place your video above mine in the timeline and cut exactly where you do
Casey, I'm so stuck. I'm working through the part of the video where we're adding the mountains and the radar to the first shot. I feel like I'm following your steps exactly, but something seems to be off with the planar transform. The mountains and radar just fly away into the sky! They don't seem to stick to the trees as they should. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I can link to a video of what's happening if that helps, and I'm running 18.6, free version.
Solved - just resize the mountains file easier way is to do a background and merge to the size of the comp and problem solved it works! Casey has a video on it that explain planar tracker, recommend it.
My major gripes with waveform editing in Resolve. 1. When you in and out a clip in the preview window - that section is not highlighted with a different colour or luminance like Premiere. 2 -the waveform at the top of the preview monitor isn't at all accurate with where the cursor is in the file. Sometimes it even displays a glitched waveform.
Could you do a version where you remove the reflection using only the free version, or with the plugin you mentioned please, love your videos by the way thank you for all that you do.
Great, I haven't the time to watch now, but will mark it. I have been trying DaVinici on and off for a few months, just can't seem to find the how to. Thanks
Awesome videos Casey, aside from Da vinci resolve crash course. you and alex has one of the amazing beginner friendly tutorials. can you also make a tutorial about optimizing settings for free version like those random pop up message about cache/still/gallery needs to be updated and changing keyboard shortcuts but received a yellow tringle icon error and hotkeys are not working properly
Hey Casey! I finally had time to watch this and the prior video. Hokey smokes! Thank you for putting these together! I learned a lot! I would have loved to see the parts you skipped, but thank you for sharing what you did! Question about what you did with the light sabre blades in 1:19:00+ ... Would it be possible to connect each end of the polygon mask to an Intelli Tracker of each end of a light sabre blade (on the end and near the handle) to save time? Thank you for your helpful videos and thoughts, Casey! ☕🙂
Just a heads up to any who are running the beta version of DVR under the beta version of MacOS - be prepared for some weird stuff. If you run across an instance when a command you think should work, or that you see Casey do, and it doesn't work for you - restart DVR and it will now work.
Loving your videos, this one is fantastic! One thing when my Tie Fighter enters the frame it's skewed a little and straightens itself out by the time it's center frame. Can't figure out what is causing this distortion.
Hi Casey. I don’t have a flash camera, certainly not one from BMD. Let’s assume I only have access to either an iPhone SE and an old Samsung digital camera. What Colour Management settings would I use for footage out of these? Thanks.
Thanks for this fun May the 4th be with you activity. I'm 23 minutes into watching this when I realize this video is over 2 hours long. So im thinking, why am I hust laying in bed watching? What did Yoda once say? Was is "don't thin, do" ? Anyway I'll follow along...
Casey... I do live streams of my editing... I'm guessing that all this content is streamer safe to use? For live streams? I already streamed the first part but did not add any music yet.
Thank you so much for the video! I figured id drop a comment to ask- if I have an a6700 in s log 3, how do I import that media to resolve? is there.a special thing I need to do first? Thanks for the epic vid!
Awesome video as always Casey. I have a question not related tot the video. Do you know how to create tapered dashed line effect with offset in DaVinci Resolve? By offset I mean when length animated keyframe reach 1, dashed lines keep moving forward or backward depending on offset keyframes.
Download FREE practice media and follow along with me! --> www.groundcontrol.film/starwars
