Hi, Frenchie this is CNBS, can we use your footage on next Monday's STOCKBS TALK show? It would be great for the audience to realize how behind FSD still is.
omg. That cracked me up. You know, I have not even looked at the CNN video yet because I knew it was gonna be something like your cute skit. Now I think I'll go watch it.
Excellent review, FSD is pretty scary, thanks for warning us! CNN rocks, so honest. Amazing reporters who are impressive behind the wheel, almost as good as my grandma.
Let me start by saying I enjoy your videos. You nailed the guy's mannerisms. However, I live four blocks from here. In the middle of the day, this specific area is a great place to test the incremental improvements in FSD. But I wouldn't say it's a realistic representation of what it's like to drive in real city traffic during times where you'd want to use FSD. Since I've had the beta, I've had about 5-6 close calls within a one-mile radius from here. These situations ranged from the car turning into the wrong lane and almost hitting a panhandler in a wheelchair, stopping in the middle of intersections when there's no clearance ahead, or blocking the bike lane after trying to change lanes to a row of parked cars. Anywhere east of Halsted, north of Grand, south of Lake, or west of Ogden, I haven't been able to go more than two minutes without intervention if I attempt to drive in this area after 5 pm. Even with interventions, its behavior is confusing to other drivers and can (and probably has) led to accidents. The CNN correspondent was inexperienced, skittish, snarky, and arguably biased, but I wouldn't say he was wrong. Pretty much everything in the video is stuff I regularly experienced in a half-hour of driving. FSD Beta is very much still a beta. There are many situations where it's unsafe to use or even attempt to use. In my opinion, the story isn't about whether or not the car would have hit that truck. Over-aggressive turning/acceleration is legit scary the first few times it happens, and it happens often. If the driver thinks the car wants to hit the truck, or the truck thinks the car wants to hit the truck, it's still hazardous because either person could overcorrect and do something even more dangerous. I think it's fair to point out that there's some genuine anxiety attached to that in high-stakes, low-option scenarios, and that's what I feel like the journalist reflected.
To be fair, I watch a lot of fsd beta, videos every new version, and on almost every drive the car did make a stupid error that could cause an accident.
