Such an amazing editing skills and whole quality of the production and such a clean looking bike + nice riding, this is perfect. You seriously deserve a whole lot more subs. Cheers.
I found you on the Aprilia forums and followed your link to here. Your review is so intuitive and really puts the feeling into words which is not easy to do. Very impressed sir and you have a new sub.
Excellent commentary while riding. Never a dull moment. A few time when you got passed, my brain was saying twist the throttle, almost for got I was watching a video :)
You are probably one of the most insightful motovloggers you and 650ib man keep up the good work look forward to seeing different motorcycles and more videos
hey whens the next vid coming out just had your channel come up in suggestions and you got some really good videos I wanna see more from you what about a canyon run on the Aprilia like you did on the 2016 r1 60th-anniversary Kenny Roberts special
I've got a bunch more videos in the works, it's been raining like crazy lately here so that's delayed shooting a bit. More videos of the RSV4 and other bikes coming soon!
Sir that was a AWESOME Video to watch. It got my attention and I didn’t stop til the end. Got the 2020 factory an your spot on with how it feels and how it makes me feel riding it. Hope to make my own video like this
Just stumbled upon your channel. Must say very well done sir. One of the best out there. Please keep doing what you are doing. Subscribed. Looking for a new bike and the 17 RF is in contention so I love your review on it. Very helpful. I do have a question. You mention having a video talking about living with the RSV4 for 30,000 miles. I cannot find that video. Am I missing something? Btw I haven’t watched all of your vids just yet. Thanks for a great channel!
Thanks! Good catch, I mentioned that video but then with the crash and everything it got delayed a bit. I'm finishing up that video now and will post it soon. Bike actually has around 40,000 miles now.
Excellent video, commentary and editing. I ended up getting rid of my 2015 RSV4 R after owning it for a couple of months. I ran into a coolant leak and a couple of other issues that just didn't make me comfortable with my nearest dealer 4 hours away. I have to say that the new R1 (I own) and the RSV4 seem completely different in almost every respect. Both are great bikes but the R1, to me, feels better put together.
There's no doubting that the bike is Italian, for sure. No Italian bike is going to ever be as bang-on reliable as the Japanese big-four... they're just so good at that. I'm with you on the dealer thing too, if you don't have a decent dealer relatively close by I wouldn't recommend one of these. I'm super lucky to have a really really good Aprilia guy within an hour drive and an OK dealership 15 minutes away. I had the coolant leak from the stupid worthless hose clamps in the first week of owning the bike too, but other than that and a couple issues the bike has been pretty much OK (other than one expensive repair). I'm actually working on a long term review video outlining what it's been like to put 30,000 miles on the bike and just what has gone wrong in that time. No doubt about it, in the current market the new R1 is hard to beat! But oh man there's just something about the Italians... ;)
TheFlyingGoat I had two Ducati's a 1198 and a Diavel and they both had their issues as well but their fit and finish seemed, for the most part, better than aprilia. I'm sure I didn't give the aprilia enough time to grow on me though
True, I had a 1098S and the detail and finish level seemed higher, though I had many more mechanical issues with that bike than I have had with the Aprilia.
TheFlyingGoat my 1198s blew the seal to the clutch with only 4k miles on it which leaked oil on to the clutch plates. I had to limp home in 1st gear. The uniqueness of owning a dry clutch seemed to lose its luster.
besides your veery gooe riding and great commentary, your image quality is superb. Main shot taken with Hero5 and some color grading? I absolutely loooved the look on your 675R review!
Thank you!! The on-board cameras are a GoPro Hero4 Black and a Session5 for the alternate angles. I shoot both in the flat profile and then color grade in Premiere.
gonna sub, I love your combination of motorcycles with some cinematic style. Thanks for answering! Most of the time when I see GoPro footage its just looks bad(?), not sure but it just doesn't looks like yours. Looking forward to more :)
There is extra machining done to the frame of the Factory that allows the insert of the adjustment blocks for engine position, swing arm pivot, and steering head offset. Starting in 2016 (US model, 2015 in Europe) all RSV4s are have adjustable geometry. Tuono V4's are not adjustable, even the Factory.
Btw, the camera angle is really good, but it could be better in my opinion if you could try making it gimbal side to side, so you can see the lean angle more.
Thanks! Yes I do swap between street and track setups. Bodywork goes on and off the bike pretty quickly so it's not that big of an ordeal. I usually take the opportunity to check over the bike closely anyways, so I usually spend about 2 hours getting the bike ready for the track (not including a trip to my tire guy to swap the slicks on).
Oh man that is a hard choice. The MV is GORGEOUS. Both are Italian and come with their own quirks. I will say I had two friends with F3 800s that had issues with them that led them to sell the bike, but I don't know if that would stop me because I'm an irrational person and that bike is pure sex.
You have a beautiful bike man. You make want to trade my 2014 BMW S1000RR for it lol. Do you ride this bike on the track only ? I noticed you have the street triple so I figured you ride that one on the street only.
Thank you! The RSV4 and the Street Triple both get used on street and track. The Triumph is my wife's bike and she rides the track as well. I have a street video of the RSV4 and a track video of the Street Triple coming soon, just all the wet weather we've been having lately has been delaying things a bit.
so I might be picking up a trackbike to convert to a street bike(it just needs a few bits, it wasn't completely converted). Previous bike I had swapped out the stock carts for Andreani's and those were so nice(2009 Aprilia Shiver). Whats your opinion on the stock rsv4 forks and shock? I've primarily been interested in a Factory but if I go the route with this project bike for myself I'll get something a little unique for about 1k less than I'm currently able to find a used Factory for. Bike in question is 2012 RSV4 R APRC . Thanks!
Stock fork & shocks on the Factory are great, but even the Sachs units that came stock on my '13 RSV4 R I thought were pretty good. Ohlins seems to be better at soaking up rough road while not feeling too soft & wallow-y.
Great video, and definitely a worthwhile review (unlike some who just get so caught up in saying how amazing it is and have no other real input). The camera is very stable and well placed as well. What mount are you using to keep the image as clear as it is? It seems like there's little-to-no vibration causing distortion in the video. Anyway, this is the first video of yours I've watched and I made sure to subscribe for more. Looking forward to watching more.
Thank you! The main camera is mounted to the gas tank, which is mounted on rubber grommets so it's one of the more stable/vibration-free spots on the bike. Thanks for the comments, and the sub! Lots more videos coming up soon!
I got the Akra full system from Houston Superbikes. Talk to Bobby there, super good dude. They've been running a RSV4 in MotoAmerica and have all the goodies.
+TheFlyingGoat Any recommendations for roads/routes to drive in the San Diego area? I’m here this weekend for my wedding and have a shitbox Camaro convertible to drive around. Any help is appreciated. Thankee.
+Nayr What part of San Diego you in? If you're near north San Diego (ie Escondido, Poway, Vista, etc) find Highland Valley Rd then go through Ramona and either up to Julian or Sunrise Hwy to Mt Laguna. Or look on Google Maps for ways to get to Borrego Springs, both routes into the desert are super fun- Montezuma Grade or Banner Grade and Yaqui pass.
Sorry, super slow reply! Fairings were from Catalyst Composites which has since gone out of business unfortunately. I believe I heard that Sharkskins bought up all of their old molds though.
I had MEANT to post that video before the track review video, but work and weather has kept me from getting that video finished. It's the very next video coming I promise!
There's a lot of small things that all add up, but the biggest things were 7 lbs lost with the full Akra Ti exhaust, 5 lbs from Lithium battery, 9 lbs total from the rotating mass with the forged wheels, light weight rear rotor, Ti hardware, lightweight sprocket carrier, 520 conversion with aluminum rear sprocket, etc. I'm a ridiculous person and I kept a detailed spreadsheet, haha.
@@FlyingGoatMedia sheesh! I see! I'm looking to buy a similar year RSV4 with none of those mods currently. I haven't tried it out yet but scared to death of the weight. The forums say very flickable but that's all based on interpretation lol.
@@solivefree It's a bit cliche to say but these bikes "hide" their weight well. You'll notice the bike feels hefty when pushing it around the garage but once you're riding you don't really notice. The wheels will make the biggest difference you'll feel, since it's rotating weight (if you're not buying a Factory or RF) but the battery is the best bang for the buck. Dropping 5 lbs for $200 is a good deal considering the rest of the weight savings opportunities come at a MUCH higher price.
@@FlyingGoatMedia Thanks for the info and input. The one i'm looking at is indeed a Factory. I suppose that saves a few lbs haha... The exhaust has a SC slip on which should save a few as well. Will look into a few other 'affordable' mods to lighten her up...
Good review although your weight loss results weren't as good as mine. The kickstand alone is pretty heavy, light assembly was heavy, etc. etc. Wait until you try a newer engined RSV4, there is a tremendous difference in power.
Thanks. Yeah there's more to do to get the bike lighter, but since I still switch it back and forth between street and track I'm stuck making a few compromises. One day when this bike is track only I'll ditch the kickstand (though I don't know, I've had track bikes with no kickstand before and that is kind of a pain sometimes) and do a lightweight subframe and fairing stay, etc. Looking forward to trying the new bikes for sure, I have a buddy loaning me his RF for a review video soon!

Your production and commentary is better than a lot of the big moto channels
Best RSV4 review out there!!
More like those "expert" reviews

Aprilia.....FTW! I own two of them. Aprilia fan for life!
I'm just a sucker for the Italians! Gotta love them.
Excellent commentary while riding. Never a dull moment. A few time when you got passed, my brain was saying twist the throttle, almost for got I was watching a video :)

Splendid, simply splendid. That sound makes me miss my Tuono, what a motor
What a motor indeed. The sound of a bike (or car) is really high up on the importance list for me, so the V4 bikes just do it for me!
As always, great work on the video! Chuckwalla is so much fun, it was a plus that the review was filmed there since it's my favorite track.
Thanks! Chuckwalla is great, isn't it? My home away from home. :)

This is an old review but oh so true👍🏻 The RSV4 is a track bike for the road, so you can ride it to the place it needs to be at - the track!
Great Video man keep them coming!

Great video and amazing bike. You are a very skilled rider I enjoyed this video a lot. Keep up the great work. 👍🏼👊🏼
I'm pretty sure that you can change the position of the engine on all RSV4 and Tuonos...It was the main marketing ploy when the first RSV4 came out...
