2005 C6 w/86k, same issue. Did your fix - picked up the #31 o-rings in the plumbing department at HD (appears to be identical to the old ones, lol) and added the #5 rings, too. Test drive over a few speed bumbs, squeeks/pops GONE. Will be lubing the weatherstrip and pins later, but excellent results from just the o-rings. Thank you for the video!
Glad to hear! i have found if you take your top on and off frequently, like i do, it can be good to replace at least the small O-ring every year because they tend to flatten out. That lube should help too. keep the O-rings fresh and you should be good to go. Thanks for watching! @@thevetteingprocess I do take it off/on a lot, so I will keep the annual o-ring replacement in mind. It's easy enough to change them, so why not! I'll check out your full review as well. Thanks again!
I did this today but didn’t get to drive it yet. Once you do it, it is a lot harder to open the roof latches on the front of the roof. It was for me. Thanks
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Followed instructions and was totally successful!!! Also found drivers side rear pin was lose. Took her out on roads I know I was getting the noise and not a peep. Thanks again!! GR
Awesome! Glad to hear. It really makes the driving experience more enjoyable. I may change mine out once a year just to keep them fresh. Thanks for watching!
Just looked at mine, which has been creaking like crazy. The factory o-rings were all squished. I’ve replaced them and added the other two you recommended. Will see how it sounds in a few days. Snow on the ground now, so have to wait 😩
Just used rubber. They have helped tremendously. I do see myself replacing them about once a year though. I take my top on and off alot so I will wear them down. Thanks for watching! Enjoy that 06! They r great cars.
I tried all the suggested items to silence my top but nothing worked. I finally fixed it. I picked up two SS flat washers 5/16. $0.68 remove the top and then remove the front cone shaped pins from the removeable top. Reattached them with the two flat washers. The noise comes from those pins not being fully inserted into their cone shaped holes. Possibly too much rubber weather stripping prevents the pins from being fully inserted. Presto, no more noise.
I also have a 2008 C6 but occasionally hear a wind noise in the hard top. No popping or crackling yet. The hardtop is locked properly and I tried to lubricate the seals already. Still hear the wind noise at around 70 mph. Any thoughts ?
Hmmm. Perhaps you may try tightening the hardware. Specifically the screws on the top where it locks in the handles above the visors. I believe they are size T-20 torx bit. Let me know how it goes!
I did this exactly including adding the grease and my roof still makes a weird creaking sound. Not a squeak but more like heavy raindrops hitting the roof. So annoying...
@@thevetteingprocess What I did the past weekend was the "E-Clip" solution. It worked! Two tiny pieces of metal clipped into the roller on the handles and Voila! No noise.

Your suggestions are fantastic! My C6 roof noise was driving me nuts. 4 o-rings later and it’s perfect. Thanks!!!!

I hope it works out for you. You may be able to loosen the hardware a little on the latches to help with that. Enjoy that car!
Thanks for the tips ❤
Squeak is fixed now… thank bro

Great fix. Nice and cheap, I would also suggest using a quality o-ring lubricant to help keep them for getting dry, makes them last alot longer
Just got a 2007 and thank you for the tip.
Thanks 🙏 I am going to try this asap as my transparent targa top on my C6 sounds horrible.
Hope it goes well.

Just rubber o rings or did you use metal? Very helpful. Having the same problem currently w 2006 C6. Thank you.

This is good to know as something else to check. Thanks!
I’m going to implement this fix as just the rubber washers, while improving the noise, hasn’t stopped it more than 50% of the time.
Did you lube the o rings with anything??
Gr
I did not use any lube, but that may be a good idea.

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried tightening or loosening the tops handles?

Do u have a link for these "e-clips" ?
Thanks
