While I understand the goals behind these types of mystery boxes. I want to find a system that teaches you fabric categories, Types of fabrics in that group, Weights, special sewing methods, etc. Maybe start with COTTONS. Cover basic, quilt, clothing, blends, sheers, knits, etc. Then go to Linen or Polyester or Silk. Whatever progression makes sense to a teacher/professional.
I already have more fabric than I can use so I wouldn't try it. At least you came up with ways to use fabric you don't care for like witch hats with the felt. I love the ticking but that's more than I could use. I bought some blue and red last year. I think they should have to say if the 10 lbs is cotton, polyester, specialty, etc because I don't sew clothes for people or dolls. I've been burned a lot in past over mystery things like quilts, cross stitch patterns, etc. Even my Secret Santa at work sucked so I never fell for that again. I'm over the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) when it comes to mystery anything. I do enjoy watching others open up their surprise boxes though.
Well that was frankly a horrifying selection. I'm super sensitive to fabrics so unfortunately mystery boxes aren't for me. Can't risk wool, can't risk all polyester!!
I’ve ordered 3 times from mood. I could maybe use about 1/2 of each box, BUT the last box was horrible!!!!! Gold stretchy Lamay, about 5 lbs of the most horrible upholstery junk, way too much lining type, really wierd gauzy stuff, odd things I’d NEVER even look at … and the wools, and heavy denim … I kept telling them I was in FLORIDA … all the customer service said was “you get what you get!” I even sent the last one back … and now all I get is store credit only, so I HAVE to order an other box, and still pay more shipping …. I NEVER once got a print! Nope. No more Mood! 😢
This is soooooooo beautiful i love this quilt its fantastic

On 1/2/22, I made a video called "Types Of Fabric And What To Do With It" Check it out.
Interesting experiment! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Glad you got some fabric you can use! Kathleen
Yes! Thank you!

We might have ordered around the same time. I also got some of the same fabrics. I’m going to try and make a Chanel style outfit from my Boucle.
That sounds wonderful!
The black felt is most likely 100% wool. You could probably list it for sale and make the money back for the box.
No. It is cheap. It feels like felt used for a bulletin board, but it will work for doll witch hats.

It was greatly disappointing. When I read the reviews, everyone raved about what they received. I ended up with mainly synthetics.

Wow!
I think I rather spend the money on one fabric that I really like 😊
I completely understand. I was trying to be adventurous but was disappointed.
Not really for me. However, the first piece I really liked. Also the shirting. Interesting though!!
