Happy Memorial Day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel to everyone! We give a special honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to increase our hope and love as we wear her brown scapular, a sign of our deepest devotion to her. Fr. Anthony, thank you for the explanation of the different scapulars and the symbolism of their own colours. It’s very interesting and desirable especially when you relate the story of St. John Vianney. How the devil reacts with fear to the only lady in the dance floor he ignores to dance with. The lady was wearing the brown scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, whose motherly protection saved her from the danger of losing her soul to the disguise of the attractive and handsome man. Mother Mary, thank you for your love, care and protection and help us to become obedient children to do God’s Holy will at all times.

Great homily today Fr. I wear two versions of the brown scapular because I am allergic to wool. Today I am wearing the wool one to honor our lady. I only knew about the brown and green scapulars and am curious now about the five fold scapulars. I go on retreat at a monastery near me in a month and will check out their store where I bought my brown , wool one years ago. Again thank you for being an amazing priest.

I happened upon an antique being sold ... it was a cross ... elegant carved Cross engraved on top of a piece of human skull ...
The vendors were a bit leary to it's meaning ... as if it were taboo ... I explained to them the way I see it ... a symbol of Our Lord's "VICTORY" over death. I suggested they have the skull dated ... it may date back to the catacombs.
