    Hi,
I had similar experience last week.same day of arrival my passport and my Sweden RP card was stolen along with my wife and son passport and RP.
I did a FIR, called Sweden embassy, they have sent one page of decision letter of visa, send a mail to indian embassy italy and got a call back to come and collect a letter to prove my identity.
So with all doc I was able to travel back within EU.
Basically they checked FIR copy having all the passport and visa number in that....other documents are good to have. But in case you have similar situation.you can try with FIR if not able to get other docs.

isn't this the worst? bro i feel extremely bad for you, the way you were treated by your own people in the embassy in a foreign country. Makes you question the work of foreign affairs and the attitude of government employees who are there to work and not enjoy a holiday in a foreign country. It makes sense why people move abroad eventually, I have never seen a US /Euro citizen facing such petty issues. This is purely due to sheer incompetence and lack work ethics of the government employees. Polish embassy wanted to help you, but not the indian.

Hello, this was worst, unfortunate and never expected.
I think not all the staff was same. But yeah we had a lot of inconvenience.
On other hand, when I visited Polish Embassy, the environment was calm and they were treating people with all the respect they deserve.
On a lighter note, this is not the only reason people surrender their nationalities, there are several other reasons and personal preferences.
Appreciate your comment and genuine concern.

Italy and France are the two most unsafe places for tourist . Their are hundreds of pretty women on pawl looking for unsuspecting travellers . Also one has to be extremely careful in bus as their are high chances you might loose your entire luggage . Its unfortunate what happened to you but the situation is really bad out there .

    • @ContinentalKrish
      @ContinentalKrish  Год назад +7

I completely agree with you. What I heard from local people that there are some group of couples who pretend like they are tourists, but they are actually not.
I would highly recommend to everyone who travel to these places that always leave your important things in your hotel and even if you have to carry something with you, then split the things amongst your cotravelers/family members.

Ashamed to see such disgraceful attitude of Indian embassy in Italy. Glad to know the situation was finally resolved! But especially commendable is your calm persona through this all.

Stealing is very common in Italy. First time we were alert so nothing happened but next time we were traveling from one place to another of Italy . We parked the car on roadside parking with all our baggages as we were traveling thru Italy to France. We had lunch and when we reached the car , which was rental , the window glass was broken open and the bag kept behind driver seat was stolen, which had at least 10,000$ stuff with 3 American passports. We called the policeman passing by but he didn’t stop and finally we were sent to the police station where they seemed to be very used to such situations and very casually said that to do the formalities and go. Next day we reached Milan , American embassy , where within 1hr n half we got our temporary passports. This is the beauty of being American citizens. No documents were required except the tickets and visa which were on phone .Had we lost our Indian passports it would have been a big catastrophe.
An advice to all traveling to Europe , please keep money and passports close to your body . T

You are being nice to clerks working in Indian Consulate. They get this posting by buttering bosses and pulling strings. Their objective is - काम ना करो, कम से कम जो कर सके वोह करो। काम ना करनेके लिए गलत बाते बता। As you go up, the officers are selected through competitive exams and they understand rules and laws better, also better mentality then lower level clerks.

I'm truly sorry for your loss and the inconvenience. However, I can't comprehend why people carry their passports when they're on various excursions. No one is going to ask for your passport or where you're from once you've already entered the country. Please remember to always leave your passport in the hotel room safe provided by the hotel. I've visited hundreds of places in Europe and never carried my passport, and no one ever asked for it. I had a close call in Rome, Italy, but luckily, my wife managed to snatch her bag back. I apologize if my comment seems harsh, but I'm genuinely upset. I don't understand why people carry such important documents like passports while visiting places, not while they're traveling between countries.

I really appreciate your comment and concern. I’m not sure why Carried our passports on that day. Usually during travel we always keep them in the hotel room. But unfortunately, as we were in hurry, we completely forgot to take out the passports from the small carry bag after checking in to the hotel.
Anyways, it was a lesson learnt kind of thing for us and many others who watch this video.

Thanks for all the information. One this is for sure no place in the world is safe. Once you are abroad your passport is the only guarantee or you are nomad even if you have a million $ in your pocket. A big lesson Always keep xerox copies of any document where ever you are. Best of luck to you all.

Thanks for your comment. The struggle was real.
In most of the cases, the authorities advise people to return back to India. This was kind of an uncommon case that I got a chance to be back to Poland. I would thank Indian Embassy to help me to reach Poland.

Good you got through those obstacles. It’s best of you keep your passports and imp paperwork in the hotel room locker. Always carry backpack or handbag in front of you. Don’t answer any strangers as that is also a tactic they use

My son too lost his bag in train when we were returning back from Salzburg to Munich which had his passport n power bank... we immediately had contacted the officials in the train n after sometime one officer came to us with his bag which was thrown in dustbin outside the railway station, his passport was safe n they had taken away the power bank... That's nothing bcos he had got his passport back.. though we were so careful, still these kind of things happen sometimes...

People should never go through which you and your family has gone through. But at the same time the people working in the embassy should always help and guide those who are in problem specially those who are not in their country. They are the representatives and should assist their own people who are in problems in the foreign nations.

Hello, I called on the given number for Italy on the insurance document, it was not in use. Then I sent the email to the people I know from the insurance company. They sent me a form which I will need to fill and send back to them.
During my discussion with the local Indian customer care, they mentioned that fill the claim form and send, we will see if anything can be claimed.
I will keep updated in comments for the processing of insurance, if I will get any support from them in coming days.

When travelling overseas it is advisable to keep the passports and other important documents in the safety locker in the hotel. They should not be carried in public places.
