I'm so glad you found my video! I hope everything goes well with learning how to crochet. There are so many ways to crochet, so don't give up if this way does not work for you. If you want to, check my latest crochet video about how I build my crochet aid. I use a different technique to crochet in that video, one that is much easier, compared to the way in this video. Happy crocheting!
Helen, finding these videos is a true blessing! I have hemiplegic cerebral palsy affecting my left side. All of my life, I have wanted to learn how to crochet but have been unable to because I couldn’t hold the hook. Three days ago, I bought a small hobby vise from Amazon that clasps onto the table. It has opened a new world of possibilities for me! However, I’m trying to figure out where to place the skein of yarn so it doesn’t get wrapped around the vise. Also, I would like to eventually make amigurumi but am having issues with the yarn tangling around the center of the chained circle ,creating a mess. I’m looking forward to your future videos, I can’t believe I have found someone else on the same adaptive crochet journey as me! A MILLION THANKS for posting this series!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing your story!❤ It's my first time hearing about a hobby vise, did a quick google search, but I will look more into it! I'm just so so glad you found something that works for you. About the skein of yarn, I think I need to know how you set up your workspace, but I'm not sure also. I'm so sorry I can't help you at this moment. I'm also glad there is someone on the same journey as me! Thank you so much for posting this comment, it made my day!💖💖💖
Thank you so very much🥰 for sharing this with everyone how you figured this out and I admire you you for this. because I almost have the same problem . because the doctor missed me at birth. and I had to teach myself many things on how to do the normal things with just using my whole left side only again thank you and keep up the good work.
I am trying very hard to rest my right hand because of tendonitis, which I extremely aggravated over this last week trying to get an afghan done by yesterday, and of course now I regret it. And I crochet and sew all the time. So my right hand and wrist hurting for little things is really, really not cool. I just tried sewing with my left hand, and I guess it can work, it's just going to take a lot longer. But then I tried crocheting with my left hand, and OUCH. Having to grasp the yarn and hold it out with my right hand hurt definitely too much. Very discouraging. I was sitting here trying to decide what I was going to do about that and just randomly said, "Hey Google, can you crochet with one hand?" And the first thing that came up, was your article in Medium! I am so very excited to find you. Thank you so much! I am going to get creative with this!
Thank you for this message! First time someone mentioned finding me on Medium, I almost forgot I wrote an article there, haha. If you check out my latest crochet video about how I build my crochet aid, I crochet with a different technique than the one I used in this specific video. I'll actually link it here: ruclips.net/video/vI1n_7ECSkY/видео.htmlsi=ZJYWrjscIX1DIRNP
Crochet my passion my life. I already paraplegic and recetly hav seizure now no right side. I need lern left so bad i miss crochet many years. To I love to donate what my crochet for people need
I was shot in 2020 when I was fifteen years old and I haven’t been able to use my fingers on my left hand ever since so I didn’t know if I would ever be able to crochet, but you have shown me that I still can and I love you for that ❤ ❤
I have a mass in one of my fingers on my dominant hand. I just had a procedure done on it, which failed and has given me nerve damage. I can barely crochet at the moment. I'm considering surgery, but since there is nerve involvement (some level of the mass squishing or enveloping a nerve) the surgery comes with greater risk. I've been so scared I would lose the only hobby that brings me peace, but this series gave me hope, so thank you very much. I did want to ask whether you crocheted before your stroke, and if so what was the adjustment like? I know I'm already harsh on myself knowing how quickly/easily I used to crochet. Did you face this, and if so, what helped these thoughts?
I didn’t know how to crochet before my stroke. I actually didn’t know this kind of fiber art existed. Learning how I can crochet with one hand was tough because back when I had interest (in 2020), there weren’t many RUclips videos about one handed crochet aids. I don’t have the experience of crocheting with two hands, but I think it would feel different because the crochet hook is stationary. Traditionally when crocheting, you move hook, and yarn over and such, but you use one hand, you can’t move the hook (if you’re using a crochet aid like me) You can only move the yarn to wrap around the crochet hook. I feel like it’s a different process to get to the end goal. Hope this helps! And you can check my Instagram page @imhelenzhou for extra short videos😊
I am also a crocheter i had a jeft S Ide s Troke but only my hand lost mobulity my leg gpt weak so learnung ro ewalj againas well but have ro learn hiwy crochet agan with jusr my right hand
