That's not what it's about. Hermès isnt about "lowering" clients it's about maintaining a certain old-world craftsmanship. They don't make products just for the sake of making products. Look at how the collections are not trend-driven. Go to a store and feel the quality of the leather, the cashmere... the uniqueness of the scarf prints. I mean think about it one craftsman spends 50 hours making a Birkin. One person working an entire work week on one item. There is a RUclips clip where a Hermès craftsman worked for the company for years and he was doing a repair in Japan. All the way in Japan he came across a handbag he made 15 years before... Salespeople don't leave the company to me that says something very meaningful about Hermès and I hope you will think about Hermès differently

I live in Italy and have an home in Nice (France) so guess it would be easier for me to get an appointment or having many occasions to visit the boutiques but I consider the whole matter so humiliating that I didn't ever desired an Hermes bag :-/

I had a similar experience at the Sevres store when I had requested for a Birkin or Kelly in a neutral and the SA was telling me they had none in stock when right next to me, another shopper (local Parisian who appeared to have a long relationship with Hermes and was greeted like old friends by the SA) was offered 3 Birkin styles in different neutrals and sizes. She declined all of them.
I really don’t understand the Hermès game now... at first I can, they do this to create a hype around this bags, put that crazy prices on, and people still pay for them. But now, it’s insulting that they treat that way, you will pay 10 thousand +! You must be treated like loyalty at least. People are getting tired and they pay a couple of thousands more in the pre loved market and getting exactly what they want.

I have never bought at Hermes and can't afford to buy any bag from them, however I am curious to see how long it will take me to get an appointment (maybe NEVER, hahahaha! 😂). I will let you know if that happens, so we have proof of that as well
If you’re denied several times you can go to the desk and show them your history and they will put you on the cancellation for that day list. I’ve had a few friends get in like that. So many people just give up with the denial txt
You don’t need an appointements in Tours store (near to Paris 2 hours in train) and you get your bag easily. Not a full shop because is not in Paris but is where Hermes born. Really cute hermes shop in a beautiful city. Look in google : Hermes Tours.

Hermès is a European brand and you can’t blame European people for having this convenience. How about people who live in London and never score a birkin or kelly bag because there are a lot of wealthy Chinese and Arabic clients who spend hundred thousands of ££ and always get 3-5 birkin or kelly bags per year? Hermès stores have different policies, for example like in Monaco, only residency can put their name on their wait lists or Amsterdam is open wait list only for Dutch residency. Paris on the other hand, any one with no purchase recorded can score a birkin or kelly bag. That is why it is harder to get an appointment, but easier to get a bag.

I was in Paris the first week in November and was zero for three trying to get an appointment at FSH. I also lined up at Sèvres one morning and was probably number 20, but was told no more appointments for the day. I didn’t even want a Birkin! I was interested in a picotin or Garden Party, so I totally agree they need a different system for non-quota bags. I ended up having a fantastic time at Louis Vuitton and buying a gorgeous city steamer, so it was all good in the end. 😁

It sounds like they need to tweek their new online system , while I agree it’s better than standing in line for hours waiting to just get a ticket for an appointment , which certainly doesn’t guarantee that 1 will even be offered a BirKin or Kelly with that appointment ! I think your idea of making those appointments for those 2 particular bags is a great idea , the other styles should be attainable simply by walking in and purchasing them , your idea makes a lot of sense and hopefully ,Hermès will find this video ! I can certainly believe the things you mentioned happening online , it happened here in NY with the pop up release of Louis Vuitton/Supreme collaboration ! I wasn’t there because I just don’t see any style bag or luxury piece being worth standing in such long lines with so much chaos ! I’m pretty sure in NY it was mentioned there was even someone who either had a gun or used it to shoot at people waiting , im not sure which story is true ,but I heard it was Mayhem and it was immediately shut down ! You should come to Switzerland Erica, I just walk in my Hermes store in Zürich whenever I fell to. I think this is the hype about Paris which makes it so difficult. I know many women who decided on friday that they want a birkin or kelly and on monday they got it.
To be honest, you can understand what hermes is trying to do. It would be a bit annoying if you lived in France and couldnt ever get an appointment because all the tourists got all the bags and appointments. If there was more supply it would be ok, but limited supply, maybe the local French people should have priority. At least with limited numbers of items then each country gets their allotted amount and their people gets a chance at buying items. Maybe their should be more supply, but thats a different argument.
I simply refuse to jump through all those Hermes pathetic/absurd circus rings, humor their rude sales people and then be grateful that they take my thousands of hard earned money. That'd be the day....Frankly, If I want one of their "hard" to get bags I'd much rather spend the extra money in our perfectly good US pre loved market. Thanks for the information Erika!

So you are right, the tip is to get a few items, especially jewelry and watches and they will offer something. Sadly no Birkin or Kelly for me, but we know the drill now. Sandra O i apreciate real quality and handcraftship yet hermes formed their brand on a sense of exclusivenes and scarcity that pumps their prices. Yet with the movement of going vegan becoming more ethical to the planet i dont know how many more will want to buy it and the prices might not keep up on the long run. But is only my opinion. In Some countries like norway if u walk around with fur people look at you like u are a jerk so leather and especialy rare skins like aligator might get hated and stigmatised. I stoped eatting foie gras due to the horific treatment of goose and i think the world is heading that way. And i invest in real estate and stock market and i own some jewlery but i wouldnt buy a birkin for that reason. All is free to do what they want but i stick to my opinion i just believe is just snobish and nothing more

When I go to Paris, I don’t even bother going to Hermes. I’m not one who wastes money on buying things just to hopefully get into an SA’s good graces. I’m dedicated to my local boutique, my SA and his co-workers that I absolutely adore. If I’m lucky to score any bags, it will be through them only. If it happens then great, if not, then oh well. Maybe next time.
1.wonder if phone numbers and/or passport numbers are now logged so if a purchase was made in past year (as example) then request gets rejected automatically? thoughts? 2. this is the time of year when H is beefing up production for christmas to send bags/products all over the world, specifically for December 3. one's USA sales manager or SA can help with Paris appt if you are a client/friend 4. best thing is to just go to Sevres, be casual, look at scarves, heck even twillies, chat with SA + see what happens well after store opens so less tourists - locals do have relationships w/SA's there, just as we do in US 5. H wants to cut down on resale so can not imagine they would allow them more appointments vs others
I personally find that the online appointment is way better and in a way more respectful. They is nothing elegant about waiting in line hours, such a waste of time. The main problem with Hermes is the personal shopper or peoples hoping to score to resell it and make money on it. Even if they say it’s a loterie system for sure they is some category regarding the country of the number. I totally get it that non European peoples try to get luxury items in Europe because of the price difference but reduce the change for European. Hermes bag are already so hard to get it doesn’t help at all. Talking about the stock of course they have some for VIP clients/celebrities it’s just separate. I bought my first birkin 30 end of july and even as European it wasn’t that easy. I’ve got my appointment on my 4 try end up Friday 6pm. Paris is less then 2h train for me so end up going. My mother language is French and yes it help a lot ! Got a lovely SA but what I was looking for was not available believe her because she show me a Constance etoupe, Kelly vert amande just not the hardware that I want it. She offer me to make a special order but didn’t want to wait she thought I was from Paris or close. And the end I got a appointment by mail on Wednesday, got my birkin. Hardware that I want it, size, and one of the 3 colors I gave her. It is possible to get appointment just not an easy process. What shock me the most is that during my two times visiting just saw two locals, I think that Parisian then to go to the other boutiques. When you think about it Parisian peoples should have some kind of free pass.. But then personnal shopper would take advantage of that. Hermes bag are beautiful but we all agree that game is ridiculous and can be frustrating. Best advice while you visiting Parisian boutique if you have a French friend ask her/him to join it will help. If I were working for Hermes at the end of the day I would be so tired to speak 98% the time in english. Xx

We do appreciate the brand as we have purchased quite a few of stuff likes wallet, clothes, belts bracelets, etc. problem is SA turn over is quite high in Hermès. Anytime we go there look for a SA who served us before, she was gone. We were offered a Birkin In St Germaine in summer of 2016 stores without even asking. It was a SA approached us and asked if we wanted anything. I gave her the list of colors I want and she checked our purchase history then she offered me a blue paradise B 30. Ever since they switched to an online system, we never ever got any bag not to mention B or K.
Michelle Luong Your husband speak french but it isn’t his mother language right? Don’t say go with french, belgium peoples and you will get for 100% for sure her bag. I know that will help a lot because as a french woman, I can understand it must be tired to have only tourist. They know that 80% go there because it’s cheaper . I just was offered Birkin 30 in Luxembourg after 1,5 years waiting, but experience was great, we came with my friend had champaign and chat with SA. My friend took Lindy 30 in Rouge de coeur color.
Of course there are bags in the back! Just not for you or may others! It sucks but it is the truth. I have my collection of birkins and kellys etc and they are lovely bags but not the end of the world. I must say, I bought mine a few years back and now things have changed!! OMG I was sooo luck last week to get one Birkin at Faubourg Saint honoré without appointement 😅 I explain this in French on my Channel but I still can’t believe how lucky I am when I saw all this videos 😱 I was just trying like 1 year the online appointement with no chance so I go there directly and they give me the same day an hour to come.
As much as it pains me to pay the exorbitant US prices, this is exactly why I didn’t even bother to apply for an online appt or even take the train over to Paris from London to try at the other boutiques when I was there this summer. I bought some housewares at Harrods and Heathrow and called it a day. Any bags will come from my amazing SA in NYC. I’ve made my peace with that! ✌🏾

I really was not that interested in getting a bag as I'm having ethical issues with buying animal leather now(but wanted an investment bag) but wanted to see if the reservation system would work and if it did I would have gone to an appointment. Had a great experience several times at the huge Dior Champs-Elysses store and want to support brands that offer non-leather items which they do and don't have lines or begging, etc..
My cousin and I was offered more than one bag in Paris. We turned the ones offered down because they were in size 35cm. The only 30cm bag was a weird green color that was very bright. It is possible to "score" more than one, it just may not be in the color or size that you want. I ended up just buying a briefcase and she bought a nice scarf.

I scored a constance at the Sevres store with a male SA. What I've learned is it's all luck. I got lucky with the SA. He offered me a croc Kelly and I'm kicking myself that I said no.
I agree about male sales associates! Sometimes I think it’s because I’m young-ish and I’m buying more entry level luxury, they can’t be bothered with me. But my Mum spends way more than I do and she says the same thing you do about male sales associates (well about from the hot husband bit).
The Hermes game can make the most confident person insecure. I’ve been trying to score a bag from store for 7 years with no success despite previous purchase history. I’ve just come to the conclusion it’s just not going to happen for me 😢 I have just bought from trusted sellers.

I was in Paris in April. It took my daughter and I 3 tries to get the appt...We got there, they took us in, and I was offered a Birkin which I turned down because it was NOT what I wanted. You can always go to one of the other stores and get one. I know 3 people who went to those stores and came back with the bag of choice. I am going next April and am wondering whether or not it has changed since April. It was actually a very nice experience and no pressure no craziness just HEY DO YOU HAVE A BIRKIN ? And boom there it was .....I just didn’t like it.....thanks for the info As usual !!!! ALSO, I was unable to get a request until I was actually in Europe so the day before on the airplane it wouldn’t work ....

I really don’t understand the Hermès game now... at first I can, they do this to create a hype around this bags, put that crazy prices on, and people still pay for them. But now, it’s insulting that they treat that way, you will pay 10 thousand +! You must be treated like loyalty at least.
People are getting tired and they pay a couple of thousands more in the pre loved market and getting exactly what they want.

Thank you for this video! It's nice when you hear the real truth...I have an idea, I am one of those of people who live in the area near Paris, and I can try to book an appointment online everyday. I have never bought at Hermes and can't afford to buy any bag from them, however I am curious to see how long it will take me to get an appointment (maybe NEVER, hahahaha! 😂). I will let you know if that happens, so we have proof of that as well
If you’re denied several times you can go to the desk and show them your history and they will put you on the cancellation for that day list. I’ve had a few friends get in like that. So many people just give up with the denial txt

You don’t need an appointements in Tours store (near to Paris 2 hours in train) and you get your bag easily. Not a full shop because is not in Paris but is where Hermes born. Really cute hermes shop in a beautiful city. Look in google : Hermes Tours.
Hi Erica you are saying that people who are living in surrounding area and London are taking advantage because they live in Europe? Hermès is a European brand and you can’t blame European people for having this convenience. How about people who live in London and never score a birkin or kelly bag because there are a lot of wealthy Chinese and Arabic clients who spend hundred thousands of ££ and always get 3-5 birkin or kelly bags per year? Hermès stores have different policies, for example like in Monaco, only residency can put their name on their wait lists or Amsterdam is open wait list only for Dutch residency. Paris on the other hand, any one with no purchase recorded can score a birkin or kelly bag. That is why it is harder to get an appointment, but easier to get a bag.

And there are so many things made in U.S. which we in Europe can hardly get (except maybe when we travel into the U.S., which has become quite a hassle) or only by paying high taxes or fees; so why shouldn't we try to get an appointment, too, if we saved up for a Birkin or Kelly? And another thing: as an absolute autumn and winter lover, I always travel to Paris or London or Vienna (...) in pre-Christmas time; I love the wonderful lightning. But - of course I'm not the only one, many other people love the atmosphere in this season, too, so it's not really empty! And: no, you can't just jump in a train. I live in Germany, and today I had to cancel my journey to Paris, because of strike in Paris; you HAVE to have a seat for travelling, so you can't just enter a train, if this train doesn't have free seats anymore (or, in my case: you can't buy a ticket, because nobody knows if the train will run on that day). It's even worse with Eurostar (that's the train which goes from Paris Gare du Nord to London St. Pancras); you have to check in, meaning, your suitcase and bags and you yourself have to go through control (just like airport control, except you get your suitcase back and keep it with you in the Eurostar); you have to check in about an hour before your Eurostar will leave, you are not allowed to simply choose another Eurostar, but only the one you booked.

I was in Paris the first week in November and was zero for three trying to get an appointment at FSH. I also lined up at Sèvres one morning and was probably number 20, but was told no more appointments for the day. I didn’t even want a Birkin! I was interested in a picotin or Garden Party, so I totally agree they need a different system for non-quota bags. I ended up having a fantastic time at Louis Vuitton and buying a gorgeous city steamer, so it was all good in the end. 😁
You are always so upbeat and fun to watch ! I’m not into Hermès ,never was but I do think their leathers and colors are quite beautiful , and I get why so many love the brand ! It sounds like they need to tweek their new online system , while I agree it’s better than standing in line for hours waiting to just get a ticket for an appointment , which certainly doesn’t guarantee that 1 will even be offered a BirKin or Kelly with that appointment ! I think your idea of making those appointments for those 2 particular bags is a great idea , the other styles should be attainable simply by walking in and purchasing them , your idea makes a lot of sense and hopefully ,Hermès will find this video ! I can certainly believe the things you mentioned happening online , it happened here in NY with the pop up release of Louis Vuitton/Supreme collaboration ! I wasn’t there because I just don’t see any style bag or luxury piece being worth standing in such long lines with so much chaos ! I’m pretty sure in NY it was mentioned there was even someone who either had a gun or used it to shoot at people waiting , im not sure which story is true ,but I heard it was Mayhem and it was immediately shut down ! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing , to harm another human being over some luxury bags and accessories was probably the craziest thing I’ve ever heard living here in NY , and I’ve heard and seen a lot girl !! I’ve wanted bags that were super hard to get but no way would I wait in line for one , nor jump through the hoops that these brands expect their customers to jump through ! You should come to Switzerland Erica, I just walk in my Hermes store in Zürich whenever I fell to. I think this is the hype about Paris which makes it so difficult. I know many women who decided on friday that they want a birkin or kelly and on monday they got it.

Why should we continue to buy from these stores if they constantly lie about having a particular item or not? It really makes the experience sour.
To be honest, you can understand what hermes is trying to do. It would be a bit annoying if you lived in France and couldnt ever get an appointment because all the tourists got all the bags and appointments. If there was more supply it would be ok, but limited supply, maybe the local French people should have priority. At least with limited numbers of items then each country gets their allotted amount and their people gets a chance at buying items. Maybe their should be more supply, but thats a different argument.

I simply refuse to jump through all those Hermes pathetic/absurd circus rings, humor their rude sales people and then be grateful that they take my thousands of hard earned money. So you are right, the tip is to get a few items, especially jewelry and watches and they will offer something. Sadly no Birkin or Kelly for me, but we know the drill now. Sandra O i apreciate real quality and handcraftship yet hermes formed their brand on a sense of exclusivenes and scarcity that pumps their prices. Yet with the movement of going vegan becoming more ethical to the planet i dont know how many more will want to buy it and the prices might not keep up on the long run. But is only my opinion. In Some countries like norway if u walk around with fur people look at you like u are a jerk so leather and especialy rare skins like aligator might get hated and stigmatised. I stoped eatting foie gras due to the horific treatment of goose and i think the world is heading that way. And i invest in real estate and stock market and i own some jewlery but i wouldnt buy a birkin for that reason. All is free to do what they want but i stick to my opinion i just believe is just snobish and nothing more

When I go to Paris, I don’t even bother going to Hermes. I’m not one who wastes money on buying things just to hopefully get into an SA’s good graces. I’m dedicated to my local boutique, my SA and his co-workers that I absolutely adore. If I’m lucky to score any bags, it will be through them only. If it happens then great, if not, then oh well. Maybe next time.
1.wonder if phone numbers and/or passport numbers are now logged so if a purchase was made in past year (as example) then request gets rejected automatically? thoughts?
2. this is the time of year when H is beefing up production for christmas to send bags/products all over the world, specifically for December
3. one's USA sales manager or SA can help with Paris appt if you are a client/friend
4. best thing is to just go to Sevres, be casual, look at scarves, heck even twillies, chat with SA + see what happens well after store opens so less tourists - locals do have relationships w/SA's there, just as we do in US
5. H wants to cut down on resale so can not imagine they would allow them more appointments vs others

I personally find that the online appointment is way better and in a way more respectful.
They is nothing elegant about waiting in line hours, such a waste of time.
The main problem with Hermes is the personal shopper or peoples hoping to score to resell it and make money on it.
Even if they say it’s a loterie system for sure they is some category regarding the country of the number.
I totally get it that non European peoples try to get luxury items in Europe because of the price difference but reduce the change for European. Hermes bag are already so hard to get it doesn’t help at all.
Talking about the stock of course they have some for VIP clients/celebrities it’s just separate.
I bought my first birkin 30 end of july and even as European it wasn’t that easy. I’ve got my appointment on my 4 try end up Friday 6pm. Paris is less then 2h train for me so end up going. My mother language is French and yes it help a lot ! Got a lovely SA but what I was looking for was not available believe her because she show me a Constance etoupe, Kelly vert amande just not the hardware that I want it. She offer me to make a special order but didn’t want to wait she thought I was from Paris or close. And the end I got a appointment by mail on Wednesday, got my birkin. Hardware that I want it, size, and one of the 3 colors I gave her.
It is possible to get appointment just not an easy process.
What shock me the most is that during my two times visiting just saw two locals, I think that Parisian then to go to the other boutiques. When you think about it Parisian peoples should have some kind of free pass.. But then personnal shopper would take advantage of that.
Hermes bag are beautiful but we all agree that game is ridiculous and can be frustrating.
Best advice while you visiting Parisian boutique if you have a French friend ask her/him to join it will help.

We do appreciate the brand as we have purchased quite a few of stuff likes wallet, clothes, belts bracelets, etc. problem is SA turn over is quite high in Hermès. Anytime we go there look for a SA who served us before, she was gone. We were offered a Birkin In St Germaine in summer of 2016 stores without even asking. It was a SA approached us and asked if we wanted anything. I gave her the list of colors I want and she checked our purchase history then she offered me a blue paradise B 30. Ever since they switched to an online system, we never ever got any bag not to mention B or K.

OMG I was sooo luck last week to get one Birkin at Faubourg Saint honoré without appointement 😅 I explain this in French on my Channel but I still can’t believe how lucky I am when I saw all this videos 😱 I was just trying like 1 year the online appointement with no chance so I go there directly and they give me the same day an hour to come.
As much as it pains me to pay the exorbitant US prices, this is exactly why I didn’t even bother to apply for an online appt or even take the train over to Paris from London to try at the other boutiques when I was there this summer. I bought some housewares at Harrods and Heathrow and called it a day. Any bags will come from my amazing SA in NYC. I’ve made my peace with that! ✌🏾
So Coco if you re in London you could keep trying for an appointment and only get on the train when you have one !

Even though I could've just jumped on the train if I got an appointment, I didn't want to be bothered and deal with the possibility of them not having what I wanted since I had no other reason to go to Paris. I'd just rather ask my SA who has been able to get me exactly what I wanted in the past. Ofcourse, next time in Paris for other reasons then I will for sure try for an appointment but I refuse to go out of my way for Hermes.

Had a great experience several times at the huge Dior Champs-Elysses store and want to support brands that offer non-leather items which they do and don't have lines or begging, etc..

My cousin and I was offered more than one bag in Paris. We turned the ones offered down because they were in size 35cm. The only 30cm bag was a weird green color that was very bright. It is possible to "score" more than one, it just may not be in the color or size that you want. I ended up just buying a briefcase and she bought a nice scarf.

Hi Erica, I have a question, when you were at the Hermès store in France. Did you (and most buyers) just ask for what you had in mind, did you also ask how much the bag (you like) costs? What if the SA offer you a bag you like, but you find out it costs more than you expected… would you ( or other people) walk away?

I scored a constance at the Sevres store with a male SA. What I've learned is it's all luck. I got lucky with the SA. He offered me a croc Kelly and I'm kicking myself that I said no.
I agree about male sales associates! Sometimes I think it’s because I’m young-ish and I’m buying more entry level luxury, they can’t be bothered with me. But my Mum spends way more than I do and she says the same thing you do about male sales associates (well about from the hot husband bit).

The Hermes game can make the most confident person insecure. I’ve been trying to score a bag from store for 7 years with no success despite previous purchase history. I’ve just come to the conclusion it’s just not going to happen for me 😢 I have just bought from trusted sellers.

I was in Paris in April. It took my daughter and I 3 tries to get the appt...We got there, they took us in, and I was offered a Birkin which I turned down because it was NOT what I wanted. You can always go to one of the other stores and get one. I know 3 people who went to those stores and came back with the bag of choice. I am going next April and am wondering whether or not it has changed since April. It was actually a very nice experience and no pressure no craziness just HEY DO YOU HAVE A BIRKIN ? And boom there it was .....I just didn’t like it.....thanks for the info As usual !!!! ALSO, I was unable to get a request until I was actually in Europe so the day before on the airplane it wouldn’t work ....
