Kip Winger is a Music Genius. Love his music and all his talents that explode in his performances on stage during live shows. Love you Kip and your music thank you for sharing your musical gift 🎶
I don't know of any other rock star who would give their fans an in depth explanation of how the music is made! You are truly one of a kind, and we really appreciate you!
Thank you for your sincere compliment and your love, I am not complete without you as my fan, for whom I must be very grateful
I've been a Winger fan since '88 and always will be. 🤟🎸👍
Had the pleasure of opening for Kip. Went from a fan who paid to see him many times in the 80’s to sharing a stage with him 20yrs later. Total class act
You sir, have earned…..a smile😊……whats better than that?!
I'm just a girl who loves the journey you take us on....I came for the video....stayed for the Man!
I am really looking forward to this album, since EVH’s passing left a huge hole in hard rock. For my money, Kip and his band is one of the few out there who can keep the VH torch. (Kip and Sammy are probably the best rock singers on the planet.)
I have a lot of respect for Kip Winger! You are a genius
Kip make some more videos like this. Id be up for a video of you just talking about some of the instruments you still have and some of the stories about them.
Kip your a true master of your craft.
This man is a living legend. Eventually he will be remembered like JS Bach is today. Maybe he isn’t as notewortht as he should be today, but no one knew of JS Bach back in his day either…thank you Kip for everything.
A new WINGER album is always good news! Can’t wait! I have seen them in concert 4 times! Great band, great music! I have been a HUGE fan since the first album!
I love how you share glimpses into your profession, so people like me, can better understand just how much talent is poured into your music... absolutely wonderful!!
Kip, I've seen hundreds, make that thousands, of gear videos over the decades and this one, by far, is the best. Thanks for posting this. I look forward to hearing your new music.
Kip Winger you are the man. Love your band. Love the banter between you and Reb in your older videos when your working on riffs and music.
I love that desk idea. Slick. Everything has so many (short) cables. So cable management and planning has to be seriously considered.
Kip is a cool dude. I saw him in the 80's with Winger... They and he were the REAL DEAL...
Love hearing about your gear, but I also love that desk! I love the design and that the monitor sits down instead of up, as well as the top moving with a stationary tray. Very cool!
Thanks for this, Kip. (sigh) It's still impossible to believe
that Mike Shipley is gone. What a talent! He is sorely missed...
I love your setup man, I prefer alot of the oldschool gear myself it just sounds so much better to my ears. Keep on creating and I can't wait to hear more from you guys in the future you have always been a class act and I have enjoyed covering your tunes over the years. 👍✌
Big Winger fan from way back when, lol - glad you’re all still making music. That fact alone is an inspiration for the rest of us to keep doin’ what we’re doin’ cause we love it - pure and simple.
I remember in the 80s my teacher talking about you in our Ballet class she loved you and the way you moved on stage!

That was an amazing look at the equipment that makes the magic!! One heck of a learning experience!! It shows you don't need a ton of stuff to make great music! Mike Shipley was quite the talent. I remember reading years ago that he taught you the right way to mix a record. Your solo records and Winger records are some of my most listened to music. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you for inviting us to a "behind the scenes" look at the equipment. Great to see you 🙂
You just can't help but like the guy! Always upfront and honest.....
Hey kip i still listen to your old albums. You are a big inspiration in my life.
Thanks for your music
It’s good to see your smiling face, my friend! I dig your desk design!
Biggest fan of your band and your music
Cheers from Brazil, Kip! Looking forward to the new album! Winger is one of my all time favorite bands!
Haha ! He moves the desk over the piano ! Thats something new, never seen before, fantastic ! The rest I would replace with one Babyface.
I've rediscovered Winger and gone HOG WILD!!! I was happy to pay "collector's price" for the 2007 live dvd, got ALL the records, spent all day on the website. I just read "Nothin' But a Good Time". Just like I remembered it. I've been saying that at the end of the 80s there were a few bands that were set to "redeem" the previous decades music. I can't say that aI hated "hair metal" I lived with a girl who worked for Dod McGee from the beginning ,but I was old enough to have ...well I was born in '53...saw Led Zep 2nd row center May 30, 1969, so I wasn't hearing "the good stuff" in NYC until my drummer and I were watching MTV and Winger came on and played I thing 4 songs live and BLEW US AWAY! I'm straight, but very image and fashion conscious...they were also BEAUTIFUL and Kips moves were "impossible" but true. I play bass and I LOVED the right,, then left hand off the bass while doing ballet moves was amazing. I' so happy t hear how awesome the new record is. I've been saying that "Blue Murder" was the safest casualty of grunge ( I've played harp in Cactus with Carmine Appice since 2005 ) but Winger...I could FEEL the pain when the changing of the guard came in and of all the bands to pick on, GOD! Why the BEST one? You were so OBVIOUSLY going to just keep pumping out masterpieces....and you DID! One thing, Kip...DON'T apologize for being "Foofy" as Reb I think said. I was DEFINITELY foofy...that was maybe the best thing about the decade...FLASH, GLAM!...l though I was copying Johnny Thunders. We don't hate you for being beautiful and you've all aged so well. I actually opened for you in NYC around 2014? ...and I did a national tour opening for Dream Theater and Dixie Dregs in my band Star People probably 2000. I hope to see you live sometime soon. I wish that I'd kept up with you all along and seen the band. Right now, my brain is chock full of Winger from listening to all 7 albums and the live dvd for over a week.
I have two of those 1178's. Love them.
I was drooling during that whole video. SWEET setup. Looking forward to the new record. 👍🏻
This popped up in my recommended. But thank you so much for making a gear video! I wish every producer and well-known musician would give a studio tour of their gear. As someone who has their own home studio I'm always more than curious as to what gear and how it is being used by other musicians. Thanks again.
Hey Kip! I jammed with you at a party at your neighbors years ago. El Nido Xmas party. Glad to see your still creating!!
I love how you’ve boiled it down to what works for you and let the other stuff move on. I’m in the process of building my personal recording studio and I’m trying to maintain this thought process so that I only buy the things that I need for MY sound. I’m coming to the conclusion that a good 1073 pre and an 1176 comp going in is about all you need in a small overdubbing and mixing room which is mostly what I do. Great to see the “less is more” approach being used by pros!
Gawd I was in love with this man😍
As a composer myself(relatively unknown) I appreciate your output and flexible talent, that is a lovely set up!
Oh man..I was already enjoying this video immensely and then right when it was getting ready to be over you unveiled the desk. Dude that's literally the design I've had in my head for years, to keep the keyboard stationary and move the top etc. I'm envious. I do have a pair of original vintage neve 1272's though! Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the tour of your gear!! Can’t wait to hear the new album!! It will be awesome as usual!!❤️🎵
great rig, kip. rest in peace, mike shipley. what a great guy he was. cheers !
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing!
awesome!!! thanks for doing that walk through man!!!! (I opened a few shows for you many years ago in Atlanta)
Simplicity & Power!
Winning Combination💯
I just saw you guys at Manchester and you blew the roof off the place. I saw a good line of Marshalls in your live rigg and wondered if you guys were playing with them or some kind of interface like Steel Panther.
Either way you all sounded great. The vocal harmonies were incredible and a great show to see.
I'd love to see a video on the road with your current setup.
Thanks and I hope to catch you guys again.
Hey I’m 54 now and I lived it with you guy cool to see you on RUclips

I love all of Winger's albums including Kip's classical compositions. I've been a fan for as long as Kip has had some of his oldest equipment. It is so cool to see how much he loves creating music. What a truly talented musician and humble person.❤

Thanks buddy
Charlesfrederickk@gmial.com
excellent overview and some great gear too.
Some seller on ebay is like, "Holy crap! That was the real Kip Winger I sold those speakers to?!?!"
Lol! I thought the same thing
That’s impressive. Thanks for sharing
It's interesting that I have a piece of history, legal history, between Spector and Warwick. I have the bass that caused a lawsuit between Spector and Warwick. The end result was Warwick had to pay a fee until Spector was sold to Kramer. The bass that caused it all is a 1984 Streamer Stage I NT Masterbuilt Spector NS, serial number 4. It is the last bass with the ornate mother of pearl art work, the Spector shaped head stock, the NS shape and the one piece bridge like Spector's NS. That bass will be handed down to our kids one day.
OMG...I also have to tell you that your Winger Silent Night song/video is the BEST. It just gets my blood pumping, puts a smile on my face, and shows the raw talent and connection you guys have. I watch it several times myself and show my 5th grade students every year!

Can you show us yr guitar, bass and pedal gear ? Love your turquoise guitar ! Saw you guys open up for Queensryche in Portland late 80’s. The energy and magnetism radiating off Winger was beyond epic on stage!
Absolutely marvelous, Kip! Thank you so much for this video 💓 Can't wait to the new album! Happy holidays to all fans and Winger
Great gear kip. Love the vid. Love unique sounds and the tech that makes it possible. People don't always realize the emotional connection we have to incredible sound and it's desired effect on our lives.
Very righteous kip. Looking forward to a new album.
Very cool setup. I wish more artists would share their studio experiences
Wow! Having Mike Shipley’s NS-10s is like having Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber!
Thanks for sharing! Awesome
Kip killing it as always. Looking forward to the new record
Winger is one of the greatest groups of musicians in the business. I picked up on that 35 years ago or whatever it has been.
I always liked Kip.
Absolutely amazing !! Thank you so much Kip !!! Happy holidays!! ❤ ❤
I got to hang out with this guy on two separate occasions.......one of the funniest and nicest musicians I've ever met. Best of all things to all that read this.......

Thanks Kip, loved your Rick Beato interview
Love watching everything about you, pure genius ❤️🎶
Thanks for sharing! I have an old 80's Fisher stereo with equalizer, home made speakers. I still rock Winger loud enough for my neighbors to hear! haha. Your voice before the guitar solo in "Written In The Wind"; hitting that high note rocks!! I met and saw you numerous times when living in Vegas. Let me know an update on the new record and videos!!!!
Great rundown Kip! FYI, the Warwick is still with me and sounds amazing as always.
Thanks for your song 17. I was 17 at the time. You Rock.
Kip, I loved winger back in the 80s and such a shame that one ridiculous show ruined Winger but the fans like us have always stood by your side. Truth is your real and true musicians. By the way I used to work for a music store in New Jersey that you did business with when I worked for them back in 1990-91. American musical supply/victors house of music as they were originally known.
Rockin the old Mac and Cinema displays. Love it!
Sweet set up. Thanks for going through your rig and explaining everything.
The algorithm brought me. Subbed right away. Your music was part of my soundscape growing up. Thanks, Bro!
Great insights into how you do your work Kip! Very cool and much appreciated!!!!
Thanx for all the great music kip
This is a fascinating explanation of crucial gear I have absolutely no idea how it works... Thanks for the phenomenal music Kip!

Keep Rockin Kip! Glad to see ya still at it!
Great seeing you and this gear brutha! Love the work that you and Reb do. The studio is absolutely lovely! Thanks for sharing your audio chain and keep rocking. Can't wait for the next release. I still play Tin Soldier 3 times in a row whenever it comes on in rotation. Freaking brilliant!
