You know the deal: everyone's doing it.
All rankings are based on my own opinions: these are my favourites, not the "Best" films of the year. But, feel free to tell me I'm wrong if you want.

The Hellraiser choice totally snuck me. Never been able to watch them personally.
I did not see that #1 coming
Thank you for your interesting list and also the other videos you made this year. And of course thank you for watching a lot of absolute horseshit to do so. ;) I am looking forward to see what your opinion an coming horror movies in 2023 will be. See you there and happy new year!
Cheers - and a Happy New year to you too. 👍
This must be the most original list I have seen. I dont know half of the movies you showed and Veneciafrenia is already from 2021 (caught my attention though). I def have to see Hellhole. It looks quite grim. It seems you prefer very dark, weird and stylish horror movies. I made only a top 5 list since there were not that many horror movies that I liked very much. That would be See no Evil, Smile, Hellraiser, The Menu and Watcher.
I value originality very highly, so thanks a lot. I like to see as many different types of horror films as possible, rather than just the really mainstream stuff - although, of course there was some good mainstream stuff out this year.
I didn't set out to make this list as obscure as possible, I just judge everything fairly IMO.
Veneciafrenia was made in 2021, and did the festivals that year, but got its wider VOD release in 2022, hence why its on this list.
I can appreciate you not seeing too many great horror films this year, I think a lot of the wider release films were a bit crap - but if you widen your net more, you'll find there's still a lot of good stuff out there.
Glad you liked Hellraiser: Smile and The Menu are decent picks, although I have to admit, I never clicked with Watcher, although I know a lot of people loved it.
@@MorbidMoonlight I have seen a lot of horror movies but I am very picky. Something like Black Phone makes me want to sleep and something like Terrifier 2 is just too simple and has nothing to say. As to Watcher, it was the closest to a classical giallo movie in many years and I am a big giallo fan. It should have been even more like giallo. That is where I see the biggest issue with the movie. It needed more clues, more victims and a bit different and more dramatic ending.
Did you see Argento's Black/Dark Glasses that came out this year?
@@MorbidMoonlight Not yet. I know about the movie but Argento lost it long time ago. I dont have high expectations.
