Surrounded, Stalingrad holds out against Axis attacks. Soviet forces break through the north of Stalingrad and drive deep into Ukraine - threatening Axis airfields. Axis forces continued pressure on Moscow from the south, while the Soviets threatened a second breakout between Leningrad and Smolensk.
