And like a vampire, he held grudges. I mean, if he didn't want a classically trained singer; why replace Anette with Floor? He's also very direct,a bit socially inept. The way he speaks about Anette's voice. It's honest but maybe consider how that might come across, Tuomas? "Not that distinctive, like the singer from the Cranberries for instance"

I think Nightwish did the right choice by bringing in a singer who's vocal style is completely different from Tarja. For one, like he said, if they brought in another operatic singer there would be endless comparisons of style because they'd be so similar. Second, I think Anette's voice allows the band to expand more, musically. Tarja's voice is amazing! It's beautiful! Angel like! But it definitely kept the band limited, musically and no artist wants to do the same sound forever.
"Because we thought that Tarja did her thing so well. She was really, really good at what she did, with her singing, performance and interpretation in her own way. There wouldn't be anybody on the planet that would do it equally good and even if she would have been really good, she would always have been considered like a cheap copycat of Tarja" I like that he is honest about it, and for everyone bashing Tarja, here it is Nightwish's mastermind stating she was unmatchable. So, I am glad Floor will use a more broad choice of vocal genres but won't be following a lyrical path because for as versatile as people claim her to be, in lyrical singing she is not that great and can't match Tarja's rich timbre and controlled high notes. Her forté is her rocky and powerful singing and that's where she stands out and will stop or at least limit the comparisons.
You deserve a cookie. xD But yeah you nailed it, although there were people comapring the singers nonetheless, but not in that sense he was talking about. Not even Floor gets close and not because she's got a different style, more likely because she's versatile, while Tarja is perfect in one thing, just like Anette.

Tarja is special, she is magical. He composed the best songs while she was there.
And that will never happen again. But they are well and she is too, so water under the bridge.
Ligeia Noire Yeah, although it would be cool to see them one day...like grown up people, to sit down, apologize and witness them performing together in an anniversary show or something. : /

Well, the ones that did wrong have to be the ones apologizing, which I do not think they will do so...
After all these years I'm still listening to NW , but the old stuff ... it was ok not trying to copy Tarja , because it IS NOT possible , but the magic of your music was the combination of fabulous Tarja singing and fabulous NW sound . You just don't sound unique anymore . Listening to Nightwish .... something is missing , listening to Tarja ... something is missing . This is so sad ...
Tarja wouldn't have done Dark Passion Play any justice. Tuomas went in a musical direction far beyond anything that preceded it. He took the opportunity of the new voice of Nightwish and hit the ground running. Metal is not like TV. When something happens and fans whine about it, nothing changes. A true composer never lets anything get in his way. I can only hope to be as disciplined one day.
After all happens he still say ‘nobody on the planet is not same good as Tarja’ that’s means his love was really power.

respect her concerns and wishes, look out for her vocal and overall
health, not run her like a performing horse, not force her to endure a
smoke-filled, liquored up tour bus, not abandon her after an onstage
attack, not be jealous of a man she loved and who wanted her wishes to

Well, the shame is that, although they did not bring another operatic singer to the band, the new singer still was and still is compared to Tarja. They could have chosen anyone, operatic, pop whatever, those dumbasses would have never stopped comparing the singers. I of course compared Anette to Tarja when I first heard Dark passion Play but if you know a bit of music and voices you can hear that Anette's voice and also the songs in which she appears are easy to seperate from the Tarja songs :)

Too bad she became a diva and hard to work with.
@@nickcameron3215 I don't know... wanting to get informed of tour dates, asking for a room where she can change instead of basically getting caught semi-nude by fans, trying to get a tour schedule that gives her voice at least a little rest every now and informing the band more than a year in advance that she wants to quit rather than simply surprising them (which is what they did with this hate letter in which they publically humiliated her) doesn't sound too diva-esque to me.
Guess we'll never know the truth but taking all aspects of both sides into consideration, I stick to the version that he didn't manage to cope with the fact that she's married and therefore did the hurt pride thingy.
i fell like thoumas have ben stemplet as the bad guy. but tarja did really make the band depressed and that isnot okay. she is a well god singer. but it would be the end of the band if they kept tarja couse i know it is hard to say as a tarja fan but : she did it wrong. she maket her husband marcello control the band so ye it is better for tarja to be solo. beside thoumas and thi other is better without tarja.
Tuomas is the boogy man.
It isnt nightwish anymore, its popwish I HATE POPWISH
