Who's watching this in 2020? What a blast from the past! I go in depth on the full vocal mixing process in this updated tutorial: ruclips.net/video/DsSDVdLosu8/видео.html
So glad I found this tutorial!!! I was considering re-recording some piano tracks I had put together but after I went through this tutorial my recording now sounds professional. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! It was helpful to hear you explain which parts of the sound reside in different frequencies; i'm learning a lot in a very short amount of time. Thank you, and cheers!
I’m definitely gonna try these tips out! I’ve been really having trouble with a vocal I recorded and there are certain sections of the song that are really harsh sounding and I couldn’t figure out how to eliminate without making it sound too thin. Thanks! 🙏🏽
Awesome video! Is it possible for you to make a tutorial about editing a piano? Im using the garageband eq to accompany a singer for pop music and want to make the piano sound better. Thank you!
This is a great video. Thanks for this. I do have a question, though. I really like some of the presets. Classic Vocal, mainly. I like the effect on that one. Do you have any advice on how to create that effect, accurately, while maintaining your eq? Or maybe adjusting the eq, within the preset?
I really want to be able to edit well but I didn't hear any difference when I did the low end thingy, the red one, what difference are you supposed to hear?
white noise? I’m trying to filter white noise out of a recording... (I mean that I’d like to know roughly what frequency range I should be looking at to filter it out)
Hello: I ´m trying to use my Ipad mini with Garageband (bought) got two OTG USB connectors to a Samson Carbon 49 Midi keyboard. The sound crashes a few seconds before starting the keyboard. With either of the two OTG adaptors. Do you have an idea to fix this? I´d appreciate it.. Thanks.
but wait, instead of instruments, what if i download a karaoke and then try to do it...how the heck will i do it? i'm so confused since most of the videos include them composing their own songs :/
Hey PatrickI am so hoping you can help me with a vocal volume problem I am having. I use garageband and a pretty inexpensive Behringer B1 condenser mic. The problem is that when I have finished making the music (rock music let`s say) and then record the vocals, even when I put them on max volume they are not loud enough. I record them with the maximum levels possible (not goin into the red). I usually crank the guitars and drums and bass up pretty high (in volume). It`s rock music I want it loud! Am I putting the instruments too loud and drowning out the vocals? Is it the mic that is not good? I do sometimes double the vocals and it helps but should I have to do that? Any help as to why my vocals are not loud enough would be so much appreciated. I love your channell and videos so much. Always well explained. And is there a better mic, in the 300$ range that would help? And when making a rock song should the drums be on max volume ? Hey sooooooo many thanks.
Your dots are isolating noise differently than mine. When I drag one dot down, it drags other frequencies with it. How can I prevent this? I'm using garageband.
I don't get EQing at all... how do you know what frequencies you want to cut... also I barely hear a difference when I do but what's bothering me in a current track is the sharp S sound so maybe I can EQ if my attention isn't drawn to S so much
It depends really. I personally prefer a Condenser microphone for my own vocals (I use the cheap-ish Audio Technica AT2020 at the moment). I find that Dynamic microphones are good for micing up instruments or metal/screamo type vocals where you would be removing a lot of the top end frequencies anyway.

where in the program do I go to access and edit my vocals?
but wait, instead of instruments, what if i download a karaoke and then try to do it...how the heck will i do it? i'm so confused since most of the videos include them composing their own songs :/
Same here!!
hello, thanks for this. how did you type in the slope section and change it?
Hm, in my experience male vocals live in the 1k area.. I’ll try what you did. My voice is different though. More high.
If your voice suits that frequency range more then go for that - this video is just a guideline 👍
i like how ur scottish or irish mate. Great tutorial.
I’m using basic headphones for this 🤦🏻♀️💕
Hey PatrickI am so hoping you can help me with a vocal

And when making a rock song should the drums

is it possible to use garageband to pass-through and process vocals on the fly when i'm performing live?
Great
hopefully I'm not too late. Would it be okay for me to use multiple EQ points? Or is it better to simply stick to one?
Your dots are isolating noise differently than mine. When I drag one dot down, it drags other frequencies with it. How can I prevent this? I'm using garageband.
Is it good to put the bass up on vocals for rapping and screaming when you eq?
Hey, whatever happened to the "Show Inspector" button? The button with the "i" in the circle.
Gone as of the version 10.2 update 👍
I hear a difference 💯%‼️
✅ and ✅ .....
bSafe/Thx
Hey, what if I already recorded my vocals and I want to change something and eq a part of my vocals. how do I do that?
I don't get EQing at all... how do you know what frequencies you want to cut... also I barely hear a difference when I do but what's bothering me in a current track is the sharp S sound so maybe I can EQ if my attention isn't drawn to S so much
how do i make the eq pointy? i cant figure that out
0:33 what kind of mic would be more recommendable for voice recording then? Thank you!
What vocal instrument do you record with when you create the audio track? I've been using bright vocals. Any advice?
Personally, I always record vocals on a dry track with no effects. I find that it's easier to judge the signal strength, get timing right etc.
@@TheGaragebandGuide not even any compression? And thanks for responding btw
@@michaeltumaneng7633 nope, I prefer working with a clean track 👍
When he started singing tho lol
Very good but how do you get your voice to sound like it does when you're singing in the shower
reverb??
Everything is clear to me except the green one where you need to find the bad frequency and drag it. :(
What about master effect? Should I touch echo and reverb?
Manny Man The Master reverb and echo affects the whole project, not just the track you're working on.
