Okay, I had a moment to process Saban’s retirement. Still kind of shocked. Didn’t see this coming so soon. I just want to thank Saban for all of his years dedicated to college football from MSU, LSU, short NFL hiatus and then Alabama. Greatest college football coach in my lifetime, no doubt. I hope you enjoy your retirement with your family. You work hard as many years as Saban did to one day be able to kick your feet up and Saban defiantly deserves it. He transformed Alabama back into the old Bama but even better than ever. One of the greatest figures in all of sports. I still remember in Winter ‘07 I was still a senior in high school when Bama hired Saban…would’ve never guessed then he would have the all-time great dynasty run he would have at Bama. Job well done on your coaching career and all the best going forward. It’s going to be tough to fill his shoes at Bama. I know Bama has at least 2-3 candidates on a short list that are probably flying in to Tuscaloosa for an interview. Will be interesting to see how that plays out but, for now, farewell, Nick Saban. I’ll miss you, can’t say the same for every other SEC fanbase though lol.
I would love to see the players and their family put on a campaign to keep Saban one more year. I don't think he would have retired if this year had not been so rocky.
Its very saddening to see one of the best coaches in all pro sports hang it up. Thank you Coach Saban for 15 great years. All the championships. Amazing excitement from Tuscaloosa and beyond. I am a die hard Montreal Canadiens fan from Canada and let me tell you The Tide is loved and embraced by Us Canucks. From West coast to the East in the Great White North. Thank you Coach Saban. All the best. Everytime The Tide take the field we will be playing for you Coach. Forever Saban. Forever Tide. We Salute you. Thank you for making Tide nation proud. 🤘
@@exacerbatedfellow1236 Typical Bama fan. Dude was giving your coach and team respect, and in the most disrespectful way, you respond. No wonder the rest of the country sees you bunch as rednecks and backwoods hicks.
The end of an era! As a Dawgs fan, I've got to take my hat off to Nick Saban. Such a great football coach, and truly defined nearly a decade of elite college football.
This breaks my heart but it also confirms my fears that the way this season started and ended would make him feel like he no longer had what it took to create winning teams and lead to his retirement. He has a great long term contract worth millions but I doubt he needs the money and believe he cares more about his success in the ability to coach winning teams
All the rumors are because of age and health reasons. He took this past seasons team to a 12-2 record, with the only losses being to number 3 Texas by 10 and the eventual national champions Michigan in overtime by 7. Thats a winning team no matter how you want to argue it. I think it’s more that the man is 72 and it’s probably more to do with his health and his wife’s health.
An all-time great coach no doubt, but have you noticed how ever since the transfer portal has become so dominant in the game, Saban has won zero NCAA D1 championships? Very Belichick-ish (no Brady) ... it's no wonder these guys hang out.
Thank you Nick Saban for what you've done. I just wish Alabama fans were as humble as you. I loved seeing an interview with you and Tim Tebow (and some other guy).
Even in the NIL/Portal era, his teams were STILL head and shoulders above 99% of teams lol. He could win in this era. He just didnt like it. College football tried to beat Nick Saban, yet, he kept on beating college football lmao
In everyone’s lifetime we will all have to announce that it’s time to give up our leadership position, if not mentally it will be physically ( sickness). Oh yes that time will definitely come, so plan wisely. Nick Sabin has a great nest egg yo retire unlike some of us in which we have you have to work until the ambulance or the hearse come to pick you up at your residence. So plan wisely
Saban doesn't want to get his ass kicked by Texas every other year when they come to the SEC. Paul Finebaum just had a stroke hearing this, now he has to find another SEC coaches ass to put his head in.
Kids start getting paid for their NIL, Saban retires. The playing field is leveled now. He doesn’t have a chokehold on the best players in the country, so he calls it quit.
I'm not sure if that's his reason (I just found out; first video I've watched on it); however, I will say he's a _lot_ more humble than 99% of Alabama fans. He may see college football going in a direction he doesn't like and he's 72 so probably doesn't need any more stress.
Ok. Now that I processed that. Let Me share some truth here. YES ! We're ALL taken back from this news. He probably said he wants to spend time with his family, which is understandable. It really is. But LET'S TELL THE TRUTH HERE. Michigan must have REALLY put a beating on him. He JUST.... not that many weeks ago. Signed some AWESOME players. Had players switching schools to come play for him. Was about to sign, in a month or so, the 17 year old PHENOMENON, Ryan Williams to the squad. And now he " retires " ? That 27-20 loss wasn't the only thing that BEAT Alabama. 🤷
The Man had more Years on Earth (72) than losses (71) A statue probably won’t be good enough!! Saban and Bear are gonna need a mountain with Faces carved in the side!
Big shoes to fill, certainly. I have only an outside perspective as a lifelong Dawgs fan. But Saban will be canonized in the Hall of Legends - too bad he didn't have a catchy piece of clothing that y'all could add to the iconic checkered hat of Bryant.
Not one of the greatest THE GREATEST football coach to ever live!!! Sorry, Bear. you're definitely a close second and anybody else is at best a distant third!!
The only reason they might cover the retirement of the greatest college coach ever is to hype their pre-game show?? How jaded are you? That's so shallow that the TMZ people are mocking you. Aaron Rodgers is disappointed in that take.
I bet everybody 10 years ago that he would tuck tail run then retire the moment he couldn't sit back and spend most money on the best players from other states. He was never a great recruiter in the sense that Miami or Nebraskas coaches were constructing a tram from that state. He just paid the most. I want my money.

Class act! Hats off coach.
Maybe it has nothing to do with NIL. Maybe the fact that he’s 72 years old and would like to spend some time with his family? Just a thought….
Pete Carroll for next Bama coach

College football will never be the same. Nil turned it to the baby NFL. Lets hope it keeps to some of the old ways. Otherwise, football is dead.
