TRUE STORY! I went into home Depot today on a BROWSING ONLY trip just too look at new drills cause I was planning on one in next couple weeks. long story short, the manager was in some type of mood and when I told her I just started new job and was getting one next week she literally gave it to me. I didn't get to pick obviously but she grabbed the DeWalt kit driver&impact with the hard case. I just needed a driver & impact at my new job and idk why she would ever. nothing like that ever happens to me. I followed her to a register, clipped tag, I was like what are you doing seriously stop. and she insisted saying her heart told her to do it and just had a feeling. I'm blessed and more than lucky. I don't remember her name but THANK YOU. I plan on going back tomorrow to extend my thanks. people can be so amazing
One of the best reviews I have ever seen... Great job... I also bought mine over at Splakes Mitzen at a steep discount and I am very happy to save some money.
Daveyboy I did for 3 years straight. Yeah it’s still working great. The only reason I brought it home is because I need a set of tools at home and for side work and I need a set at work I can leave locked up on the jobsite. I use an M12 fuel at work.
I payed 89 bucks for my 885 on sale a while back at Lowe's. Came with 1.5 battery and charger with bag. Already had several other DeWalt 20V batteries and chargers from other tools I own so I prefer the smaller battery. Due to weight of the batteries of course. I've completed lots of projects around the house with it. Including a 12 by 24 ft. shed. No complaints so far.
I got the DCKTS780D1M2 7 piece combo kit last week at home depot for 499.99 valued at 1,031 thought it was a great buy love this combo my trade is a HVAC installer installed a blower unit in 2x6 no problem love great impact.
I just picked this up in a combo pack with another DeWalt drill. $149 at Lowes. I was only looking for an impact driver as I have a few older regular drills but I couldn't pass up that price. Came with 2 batteries as well. Hoping it serves me well for light work now and then.
Dustin M I bought same kit from Ace. Only really bought for charger and needed a drill. I do more car work so have dfc894 and just bought sawzall with free 6ah battery from acme
I bought my 885 about 6 months ago. Dewalt made a small monster with this one. I paid 149.99 for the impact and cordless drill 2 batteries carring case. I use it only for mechanic work. Its held up to some hard job. Me 9.5 out of 10
I had to get my impact and drill for work had craftsman and died so got a dewalt set came with impact and cordless driver 2 batteries and 1 charge with bag for 139 on Black Friday I was trying it out very nice
@@toolboss8410 Not bad but i just picked up my DCF885 and DCD771 set for $90 lol and came with the batteries as well as an extra 20v battery and charger and bag. so I already saved $40 for another battery. We all got a deal either way eh? I can final drive screws in 10x faster than my ol black and Decker. The DCF885 is THE classic record I think
This came in a combo kit I bought and the only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have enough TQ to remove a truck lugnut that's TQed at 140. I know it's not what it really made for unless it's about 110 ft lbs or less. But, I did just order the DCF889 impact wrench late last week that will have no problem with the 140 ft/ibs even on the low (1) setting. I'll probably use the wrench to undo lugs and the driver to install the lugs so I can still TQ them down with a TQ wrench without going over if I used the impact wrench.
I know this is an old video but I just got this on sale at Lowe’s with a 3.0ah battery for 99.. I really like it.. one question though, does the led lights on the front kinda flicker whenever you press the trigger?? Mine are doing it but I don’t notice it on any of my other drills or impacts, but they are brushless and this is brushed.. I didn’t know if it had to do with being brushed or not??
Good review thank you. Not sure of the cost difference but the speed control on XR model is REALLY nice. It isn’t as much the top end power, because as you have demonstrated, it has no problem driving in a 4” lag. It is more about being able to control the power putting screws into wood that could split, or not snapping the head off a 2” 8 screw into a 2x4.
+EDK Landscaping absolutely bro ..its going to be a long video ...lolol i got alot of stuff...the dewalt is really a nice compact impact ...i really am suprised how much i like it
never had impact driver. description says 1/4 " question: the head of the bolt you are placed in the wood seems to large to insert into a 1/4". Do you have to buy an adapter for drill. was going to put up ceiling fans. is this strong enough to push tap screws into cement ceiling? how about removing lugs from car wheel? can you for understand I just need some info. i am a beginner
I am considering 885 brushed or 787 brushless , i dont use except for around home . (Biggest project is building a deck) i really dont see a big advantage over brushed or brushless. Only reason i started to look at 885 was new 887 seems junk ,but i like three lights 787 has 1 light and plastic collar i hate. Which would you choose for weekend warrior?
You’ve probably figured it out by now. But you need to buy the 1/4 inch impact shank bits. Look up the dewalt drill set 7 piece DD5157. Thats the bits you need. I have this same drill. Had it since 2013. It’s a beast and I still use it daily
Hey tool boss I just subscribe too you're channel. One question I got. At Lowe's and home depot they got this on sale online for $99 with 3ah battery. Is it worth the money? Thinking about buying this
+Mow's Lawn & Iron ea this drill really impressed me ..i think dewalt impacts are really the best in industry...they are not as powerful as the milwaukees are ridgids of the world...but they are comfortable and very durable..thats why mechanics like yourself use dewalt the most
I use this all the time to bust loose my mower blades on my zero especially if I'm out in the field and get fence caught up in it then I can run up to the bar and get this take the blades off and get the fence out from underneath the deck if need be really great strong tool.
Nice review. I just got the Milwaukee 2656-21 M18 brushed impact driver on sale for $90. Do you have any opinions on it and how it compares to the Rigid 5X. Thanks.
TOOL BOSS the Milwaukee is the best impact driver you can get it’s built great and very durable not even comparable to any rigid product , but this dewalt is right behind it and does the job just as good .
That is 116 foot pounds of torque there buddy! They move it to inch so that you think it's a lot stronger than what it is! It's called confusing a masses kind of like the news! Or pretty similar
Na 1400 in/lbs ...impact drivers or in in/lbs .. impact wrenchs ft/lbs .. pretty standard or video versa ...not really a big deal either way .. would nt call that confusion... simple math can determine one or another ..
i mean id expect some shaking ,,,this new 3 speed impact is putting out so much torque i think its more thats the case ...try using it on speed 2 ...try the 6 inch on a comparable impact ...if its not happening on that one you may have a loose anvil
@damien D honestly bro, I love it. If you taking lug nuts off 120 ft or less it should get them off. If they are over that I would recommend an impact wrench. Honestly tho, It can do lug nuts no prob. Just make sure to use an impact socket as a regular one can either shatter from the impacts or not remove them at all due to the weight and materials of the socket. But I think for the track it could get you by, yet I would still recommend an impact wrench. Check out the 1/2 or 3/8 for $115, and $119. I use my atomic to remove lug nuts no issue.
@damien D honestly if you use an impact socket you should no issues. I used mine with a long extension to remove lawn mower wheels lugs. No issues at 50 ft lbs. so I don’t think it will be an issue. Use a half in adapter tho
Hey man.. I'm going get me an impact to start. I'm putting up a fence now but I want me one for changing blades on mower too. Do this one have enough power? No heavy shit like putting a car together
Nope! But a 1/4 hex drive by Milwaukee with the 18v Fuel battery can take the 29mm lugs off of my Massey Ferguson tractor in a heartbeat. Almost 200 lbs of torque and 4800 IPM. Hand down the best impact driver around. DeWalt is made by the same company the makes Stanley and Black & Decker. Wouldn't spend a dime on any of their tools!
Zero138 brushed motors will put out that spark, its normal. I've also seen some pretty smelly dewalts once the brushes wore down (I think that's the reason). I wouldn't worry about it.
Its to show what it is CAPABLE of. I can tell you my Hyper tough 20V 1/4 impact from walmart won't rip a lug nut off. Actually I would be surprised if it could handle pulling off 15-20 ft lb. Good to see this one i just acquired has much more potential. Not that i plan to use it for lug nuts but its nice to know it CAN do it if needed. I dont carry my pistol because i plan to use it but it sure is nice to have if i would need it....
I wouldnt recommend with this impact you prob can on passenger car .. most cars are at 90 ft pounds if your going to do occasionally... But impact wrench way to go or stronger impact driver
