I bought one and used it yesterday to install new blades on my z-turn. I was impressed by the power. The best tool I’ve bought in a long time. I would recommend this product. Good review.
Glad to hear it! Whenever I need to change a tire, this tool makes it a breeze.
Thank you for such a great video... strait to the point an job well done.
Just bought the bigger XR of this tool, but really consider buying this one to haul around.
Thank you again.
You bet, glad to hear it! There isn't much that stops this one.
Just watched this video, now I’m off to order it. Thanks for the informative review.
Awesome, glad it was helpful!
Best impact wrench I ever used. Its way better than the one I got from harbor freight which was the Chicago electric impact gun that barely could take off a lug nut and this one did it no problem at all.
💯this one is a beast. So far, I haven't had a lugnut it wouldn't take off.
I picked this impact wrench with a 6.0 AH battery due to its size and weight to work on the suspension components on my car and I have to say that I have been extremely impressed!
Glad to hear it. I agree, the impact really goes to work!
Very informative, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great idea on color coding the sockets..great review bud 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for using it on a mower, I work on them as my job and have been considering this impact instead of pneumatic.
It's been able to take everything off that I put it on. Good luck with it, let me know how it works out.
Nice review
Love your videos and your channel
Nice color code system for sockets 😉
Thanks so much!
Just bought one this week on Amazon, but haven't used it yet. Seems ideal, though, for DIYers to use around vehicles and the house/yard. I think I'm going to like having it.
It's a great tool. I'm sure it will handle whatever you throw at it.
You're getting me into trouble. Everytime you show something, I go buy it. Well, not everything, but I have started buying worx stuff after your Axis review and I bought this wrench a few months back at Lowes. That freaking local lowes is loving me, or at least my charge card. Lol. Love the demos.
Haha, thanks! Hopefully the tools will save you money versus having to hire someone.
I do alot of work on my car myself, so I've just treated myself to one, cant wait to use it, looks a powerful beast for its size, hopefully get into some hard to reach places.
Whenever I have to take a tire off or put back on, I grab this and it's a piece of cake.
Thanks for the vid!!
You bet!
I just ordered this impact today (fathers day gift from my wife) for removing my wheels at the racetrack as well as mower blades and other tasks in the garage. After seeing it make quick work of your Scag I'm that much more anxious for it's arrival.
That's a very nice gift your wife gave you! Please share your thoughts as to how it works out for you.
Im thinking about getting one for the race cars aswell. Does everything hold up or should i look for a Milwaukee?
How did it handle on the lug nuts?
I’ve found this DCF894 with 2.0Ah & charger on FB marketplace, It’s in very good condition, also have few Milwaukee batteries... I trade with one and paid only $40 to save whatever of the cost! Lol,
i feel excited to try it on lugnuts tomorrow, and I really like it so far, it feels had some serious effort put into it when built as I have the M18 mid-torque ones and the other big monster 2767-20 and they all beasts..
Thanks for the great review and demonstration of this unit. stay cool !
You can't beat that deal. I'm sure you'll find this one very handy for lugnuts, etc.
Awesome, I wanted to know if it can do a Scag zero turn spindle and it did. Great video, I'm sold 👍
Wow, that's cool! I talked with a local dealer and they said to use anti-seize thread sealant to keep them from locking up. So far, it's helped.
Just bought mine today
Top video man !
Thanks!
Really good video man, I just bought mine :) Smart kid lol congrats on that too ;)
Thank, man, I appreciate it!
That's smart of you to paint your sockets, saves a bit of time. Im gonna do that
Cool, I'm glad to hear someone else out there thinks it's a good idea.
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks, you bet!
Great video thank you i am going to buy one just like it
I really like this tool! It makes fast work of many projects like mower blade changes and tire changes.
That's impressive! I want one!
It sure beats lugging an extension cord around!
J's Crazy Cutz, LLC me too top top
Get the Milwaukee
What projects do you need a powerful impact wrench for? For me, the mower deck bolts are my biggest struggle.
Installing medium to large bolts / anchors into concrete or block
Scooter lugs
Motor mount bolts etc
Anything that requires larger than 6mm lagscrews. Eg 12x250 lagscrews.
This is definitely great for the home mechanic. I myself use a Snap on 18v 1/2in. But if i didn't have that I would get this Dewalt. Great review.
Thanks, I'm guessing the DeWalt impact wrench is a significantly lower cost?
This is a professional tool, great for the professional.
thank you bro.you're the best.
Awesome, thanks!
I wish I had the memory to calculate how many lug nuts I have removed. Good review
Same here! If I got .25 cents per lugnut, I'd be set.
Just brought one today free battery and charger with the purchase.
I used to remove my car and truck tire with a tire iron. This is such a nice upgrade!
LOL love that you have a count for how many lug nuts you have removed.
Cool!😀👍
Good review
Thank you, I highly recommend this impact!
thanks brother
Any time
I do my own vehicle repairs and modifications, up to including engine overhauls, ecu tuning etc etc. From compact cars to heavy duty trucks.
I have that mid torque Dewalt showcased in the video, along with its little 12v brushless brother and it’s big high torque impact brother.
In my experience that mid torque Dewalt, should be more than enough for the average diy. The only thing it will struggle are:
Seized Honda crankshaft bolts, (although it might with a weighted socket.)
Seized fwd cv axle nuts that are indented, (although it might if you remove the dent.)
Might have trouble with pinion nuts on heavy duty differentials.
Very rarely do I have to pull out it’s bigger brother.
I've heard about those difficult Honda crankshaft bolts. Thanks for sharing your opinions. So far, this impact has been able to keep up with my demands.
Thank you
You bet!
I just got mine today, for my mower blades! Could be handy, left in the car.
It's the best tool I've found so far for changing mower blades.
Oh, yeah. Bought to work on my 4 wheeler, but used it on my mower blades and it aas freaking amazing.
How is this vs the Ridgid gen5x for home DIY? Doesn't the Dewalt have greater breakaway in a shorter, less deep package?
Ridgid x5 seems a lot more powerful. I have them both.
Can you add attachment to use with Phillips head screw tip? How to get it down to use 3/8 sockets? What attachments are needed?
You can get an adapter from 1/2" to 3/8. Most people switch out to a different tool when using a phillips screw tip. An impact drill works great for that.
I agree with Mark; you can find 1/2" to 3/8" socket adapters on Amazon. I purchased a Williams 4-2A adapter for this purpose. Be aware that it has a detent pin as a retention device, rather than a ball bearing, to hold the socket on more securely. They might make one for Phillips screws, but I don't think I'd use one with an impact. You'd likely chew it up badly during removal or installation. Prospects for damage go up, too, if that screw had been secured with Loctite. Go with a standard or ratcheting screwdriver instead. If it's on really hard, try to use a screwdriver that has a hex bolster on the shaft, and use a wrench to apply extra force. If you indeed determine that it's Loctited in place, try using a heat source (a small propane torch or similar) to loosen things up. Another possibility if the screw just won't give up is to purchase a pair of Engineer Neji-Saurus PZ-58 Screw Removing Pliers. These are spring-loaded and have specially-formed jaws to grab recalcitrant screws and twist them off without damaging the Phillips head. They have green handles. Vampire Tools also offers the same pliers (I believe they're made by the same company) as Vamplier screw pliers. They're available in several sizes, too, and have red handles. And for REALLY tight spaces, Snap-on offers screw and nut removal pliers, Part #5CF; you can buy them off the truck, or go to snapon.com. They have a much smaller head and can get into places the other two can't. They're pricey at around $38.00, but if you need 'em, you need 'em. Finally, you may be able to remove such screws and nuts with small extractor sockets ("turbo sockets"). These will grip the fastener by the outer edge and turn them out. They will chew the fastener up around the edges, so you may need to replace it.
I have this but I still always hit it with a click type torque wrench
Good review Mark - but I noticed the socket fell off twice while you were removing it off the lugs - is there any problems with this tool not holding the sockets well? is this a hog ring or detent pin?
It's a detent pin. I probably didn't have it lined up with the hole in the socket. It holds the socket well when used properly.
Thanks for taking off the blade on your scag turf tiger. That's what I'm getting the impact for
Cool! It's a very powerful tool. I just used it the other day to take take a tire off my wife's vehicle.
The Low High switch actually has a Medium too.
Cool, thanks for sharing! I've used this tool many times. Its very handy.
I have the larger 1/2"Dewalt impact which I really like but it gets heavy .
This one has amazing power for its size.
awesome video.... home depot has impact and 5ah battery $229 think im heading over there grab one
Awesome, let me know how it works out for you!
Wow powerful, I have one like that but it is a 18 volt either I can use a adapter to use 20 volt batteries or I might just step 🪜 up a notch to that thanks great video will give a like
This was an upgrade from my corded impact. It makes it a breeze changing wheels.
Both of my Toyotas are about 15 years old. I won't get rid of them unless they start to have issues very frequently (especially if they are expensive fixes).
Yeah, eventually they get to the point that they're not worth putting money in anymore. I just got rid of a vehicle like that.
Just bought one at the pawn shop, It came with a 4Ah battery. I only paid $140.
I just used mine 2 days ago. It sure comes in handy for a wide variety of projects.
I'm looking for that
It's a beast!
This impact can take off lugs nuts from a big tow truck I use this to do brakes on my dads tow truck and I also use this on cars I work on I use it on a ball joint press tool it press that ball joint down so quick I didn’t have time to catch anything that was coming out this impact I talking about is the bigger version one with the bigger battery
Glad to know all the powerful ways it continues to prove itself!
Have you ever tried it on the rear dually lugs if so do you have a problem with fitting the impact in there to remove lugs because of the hub? Or do u use an extension
Micah hill can u tell me whats the model for the bigger version
Tried to break my rotor/hub assembly loose with the 899 tool and a fully charged 5ah battery on a 2018 duramax dually. Was not up to the task. Had to get a torch and heat them up to get ‘em off. If you’re looking for this “high torque” wrench to break loose stubborn bolts I would not recommend. If you just want it to speed up the job it’s fine
Have you tried it on steering and suspension parts on you're truck?
No I haven't. It's very powerful based on everything I've tried it on.
When you tighten the bolts back up do they torque automatically? How do you torque to spec with that?
This won't torque to spec. I snug them up with this and then get my torque wrench to finish the job.
@@MarkThomasBuilder what driver do you use? I wish them made a combo !
I have the DCF899 1/2" impact and the DCF887 1/4" impact. They overlap with the 887 on "high" and the 889 on "low" power but I do like the compact size of the 894. I might be more inclined to go for the 3/8" brushless version to complete the set.
Sounds like a good plan!
Do tou recommend a higher Ah battery for this, ive heard the 2ah batts aren’t enough for this
Yes, a higher Ah battery is best for this type of tool.
It be even more powerful with the 5/6/9 ah battery
Batteries don't determine power, the motor does. The higher the number for this rating simply means it will provide power longer.
Where is this impact made?
Got mine other day . I might be a bit paranoid but when I rock the unit there's a sound coming from it . I take it this could be the motor or gearbox moving slightly within the housing ???
Cheers
I have this DCF894 at hand right now and if you mean you could hear that sound of metal parts moving, mine does this too! noticeably when shaking the tool back and forth, but don’t worry, this is just a normal phenomena with cordless impact wrenches, i could also hear the same sound on my Milwaukee fuel impact wrenches as well, that sound coming from the gear components, or the shaft, but if your tool works as it meant to on applications without a noticeable issue, then it’s good.
Hi and low works only in forward!!! No low in reverse
Thanks for the info.
Would it spin a crank pulley bolt off though?
That, I'm not sure. I'd like to know how many inch/pounds is required.
Yes, I took 3 off of an international trailer without a problem, 1 from a 5.9 Cummins full of rust no problem at all, but I did it with the high torque one
That depends,is it on a Honda? They are notorious for being a bastard to get off, there’s videos on yootoob about it😐
My main work truck is an 89 F350. I keep vehicles until they die
Same here. It's nice not having a truck payment.👊
Excelente precio
What's the difference between this tool and the DCF899B?
This has slightly different performance specs like more impacts per minute and a slip clutch to prevent over-tightening.
Hi.. do u still recommend this drill
Yes, 100%. This impact is a beast for all the project I've used it on!
@@MarkThomasBuilder ...this tool is better then milwaukee m18 1/2 mid torque ? Please I need to know. Thanks!! Thanks again for the video. Nice review..!!
i have this but there are limitations . im getting the big brother as well dcf899
This passed all the tests I have for it, including my mower deck blade changes. What limitations do you have with it?
Please elaborate
Were you using the 2 amp hour battery?
Without going out look, I believe I normally use the 4Ah.
Isn’t that model bigger and heavier than the 20 volt Max model?? I was at Home Depot today looking at the Max XR and it’s huge and heavy. I’m going to be using this to work on suspension, brakes, remove cross member bolts etc.... and I feel it’s too big and bulky.
It's model DCF894B, here's a Home Depot link... homedepot.sjv.io/OXPNr
I own some smaller impacts, but I'm happy with this one. It has some nice power.
You should try the 5 amp battery
I'll bet it's unstoppable with that battery!
The 5 ah battery literally lasts forever. I highly recommend it
@@matthewweber8179 flexvolt!
The true test is if it can undo the crankcase bolt on a Honda. Then I'm sold
That's a good question. It's pretty dang powerful and haven't had anything around my house stop it yet.
I would like to see it on a 36mm axle nut.
I haven't tested this impact wrench on that yet. My commercial mower deck is often challenging to remove.
D Yang--That's a 1-1/2" nut, which is probably a stretch for this one. I should think the DCF899 could handle it, though.
Or a honda crank nut.
Good luck with trying to contact Dewalt, or get a response from them should you ever need them.
I haven't tried their customer support yet or really heard any feedback from others. Hope it was just an isolated issue you experienced.
What is the difference between xr and non xr model.
XR is brushless and their batteries have 30% more life.
How has this held up
Amazingly well! I highly recommend it.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks👍
Any reason you didn’t buy the high torque model?
This one does everything I need it to. It has amazing power and is a nice compact design.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I'm deciding between this mid or the big 899. Is there anything you couldn't do with this 894?
JuiceBanger1 I’m kind of in the same boat. I just bought a Dewalt 4 tool package that included this torque wrench. $300 for 4 tools, 2 5ah batteries and a charger. Which is the main reason I got the mid torque wrench. It was a great deal. I’d prefer the high torque wrench just to be safe, but I’m sure this mid torque wrench will do everything I need it to. And I’d pay more for the high torque wrench than I did for the 4 tool package.
@@connorhardison4974 I got the 899 as that's all the shop had. Its hefty in the hand but it took my garden trailers nuts off no probs. Now the car wheels will be next.
that monster have the perfect size and is very confortable
Yes, it passed all my tests, including the difficult mower blade change.
Whats the song at the end / artist?
The song is Cinematic Rock found on pond5.com.
Very week impact I sent back qs my 100 pounds ryobi got more go in it
Interesting. I've only had 1 trailer lug nut that this struggled with. Otherwise, it's done a great job on everything else.
You Forget to Try the midle mode
I believe it only has a high and low speed.
This is not the 899 high torque which has 3 speeds.
As long as I can find parts
I would think so. I've found parts for my old corded DeWalt circ saw.
Berapa ni harga.saya nak beli 1.kalau pos ke malaysia berapa harga
you didnt mention a big feature the middle setting is for precision fastening and will torque it to 80 ft/lbs automatically.after nut breaks it will slow down to not spin nut off and
visa versa
Thanks for sharing! I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I use this tool in a video.
@@MarkThomasBuilder yeah its a cool feature we tested it using torque wrench brings the lugs to 80 lbs torque which is recommended for most trucks and cars
@@greatbay1961 That's a great feature that I'll have to start using. Thanks!
Just bought this wrench today so good information to know I shall use the middle setting when using it for wheel nuts. Bought this for our little kubota tractor and my old daily driver which is 18 years old and still going strong but you know the saying if it ain’t broke… and my car does 50 mpg. Love diesel but it’s currently £141.9 per litre so around 7 pounds a gallon
6:47, why'd you hit em on so hard?
Thumb up. You would’ve gotten 2 if that would’ve been a Chevy lol
Thanks man! I used to own a Z-71 that I drove until it had 330,000 miles on it. I miss that truck!
How do you figure this one out you have a Dewalt supposed to be the pro tool has piss poor power but go to Ryobi that is a Do it yourself tour low end half inch Ryobi 300 pounds and you’re telling me that the world has just a little bit more than that something wrong with this
2.21.20
Get to the review !!!!
I'm wishing SOMEONE would just confirm, via an actual TORQUE wrench, as to the ft/lbs that the Manufacturer claims... does it actually do what they claim or in reality just half the ft. lbs... actual real life FACTS.... I used to believe that was what a review was...
I don't have an actual torque wrench to test it. I just put this against the toughest things I could find and it loosened them.
America: 20V. Rest of the World: 18V. Why?
Good question. If that's true of DeWalt, I'm not sure.
Why does it matter? It's not like you can put a DeWalt battery in a tool from another manufacturer. More voltage generally means more power.
@@scottrtomlinson yes, but why is there a difference on the exact same tools? And also no. People could think they can buy a 12V drill and put a 20V battery in it to generate more power. More voltage could also damage your tool.
It’s purely marketing wank. In the rest of the world they aren’t allowed to use peak numbers in advertising. It’s still nominally an 18v tool. In America though they market it at the peak voltage because the marketing laws allow it.
marketing
made in China so just can't get passed that ?
Neil Beri if it does the job I personally don’t care where it’s made, you will need something made in China one day, no getting away from it......
I believe dewalt is the only major power tool company that still makes most stuff in the usa
This is not the max
It's model DCF894, I just double checked.
markthomasbuilder I bought a DCF899M1 yesterday, it has 3 settings. A lot of models it seems, thanks for the info.
awesome video.... home depot has impact and 5ah battery $229 think im heading over there grab one
Just ordered mine last night 👍
😄
