The bells of Highworth, Wilts

The bells in Highworth have been cast over a period of nearly 400 years. The oldest bells in the tower were cast in 1689 by the late Henry and Bagley II at that time and that was the treble and 6th, with the 4th and 5th added in 1892 by John Warner and sons before in the 50s the 2,3,7,8 were all cast by John Taylor and Co. Finally in 2021 the frame was repainted and cleaned.
The ringing may sound a bit odd in this particular recording and that is not just because of the bad striking, it is also because the 3rd rope had snapped about 2 minutes before this recording of the lowering of bells 1,2,4,5,6,7,8
