When I realized Nitro would be ranked at the top I had the biggest smile on my face. I couldn’t ride it during my last visit because it was having a rare technical issue. Nitro is, to me, the best value in the park with its smoothness, reliability (usually), capacity, backwoods setting, and plentiful airtime hills.
Agreed, many coaster enthusiasts overlook capacity, but being able to reride a roller coaster many of times versus riding a roller coaster once makes a big difference.
Kudos for resisting peer pressure toward putting El Toro at #1. What YOU like matters. I had a similar experience at Lake Compounce. Boulder Dash is so hyped by enthusiasts and its layout and placement on the mountain are spectacular but it was so incredibly rough that I was fighting against it the whole time instead of enjoying it. I'm trying to get to Great Adventure for my birthday this weekend for the first time in probably 25 years, so MANY new credits to gain! I was already thinking of hitting Nitro first. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Good thing lake compounce is listening to the feedback since boulderdash now has quite a bit of new track. Within the next couple of years, it will be fully retracked. Same for wildcat too.
I find it really funny that both Bizzaros have now returned to their original names. I’ve only ridden Medusa as Bizzaro, and it is my favorite floorless coaster that I’ve ridden so far.
Rode El Toro yesterday, and if you take the second to last row, it's super smooth. Back row is a wheel seat and its way rougher. El toro is still the top dog for me!
Living in NYC, this is my home park even though I don't get there every single year. But you were pretty spot-on for most of this. Green Lantern needs to go, the last time we rode it in 2021, it was maybe the most uncomfortable roller coaster headache I've ever had. I would say to convert it to flourless but we already have Medusa and that's a better ride anyway. El Toro used to be my #1 for years as well, until I rode Velocicoaster. But I also haven't had the chance to ride El Toro in years since it was closed so much recently, so I haven't had any rough rides on it like you did. Nitro was running great last time we went, it's always so reliable.
One of my favorite parks. Great coaster collection, and it seems to never have lines. I often am able to get rerides, including 6 straight on El Toro. Nitro is highly underrated! At my height, Jersey Devil causes pain in my knee tendons because of the very awkward sitting position, which takes away from my enjoyment of it. Meanwhile, I find stand-ups to be a very enjoyable position, as long as I get the perch low. I love those positive Gs crushing down through the legs. Green Lantern is the smoothest & best layout for any stand-up in my experience. 14. Lil Devil 13. Dark Knight 12. Harley Quinn 11. Joker 10. Superman Ultimate Flight (one of my favorite kiddie coasters) 9. Runaway Mine Train 8. Skull Mountain 7. Batman the Ride 6. Jersey Devil 5. Green Lantern (almost moved up to # 4 after last year's visit) 4. Medusa 3. Nitro 2. Kingda Ka (not too far off from being # 1) 1. El Toro (negatives acknowledged, but it's still my favorite in the park)
Runaway mine train actually ran pretty good this year I must admit. Airtime was good and the janky transitions were fun and not painful. However Medusa in 2022 gave me a 45 minute headache from the cobra roll onwards 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you thank you thank you I Love My Park I love all rides in my Park but I would have to say n Nitro is still my number one in the park long-lasting airtime Hills and a longer experience and still the second tallest roller coaster in the park Kingda Ka roller was built but every time I get on Nitro is still reminds me of 2001
I don't like green lantern cuz its really shaky especially on the last few inversions and it bangs your head, also when I went the seat was in the highest position and it wouldnt go down so I was kinda dangling from it a bit. I asked the ride attendant when its gonna go down and she said "no" ☠☠☠
Also got on second train on great American scream machine on media day before opened to the public. Had bugs give pins when we got off ..same with shockwave following year
Hi! Ik this is a pretty old video, so u prob know this by now, but the 2nd accident on el Toro definitely happened. It wasn’t a derailment tho, just the track got screwed up. I was actually was there the day when it happened, and I rid it about an hour before it the incident. That shit was bumpy Af. It sucked. At one part you could definitely tell that something was wrong, it felt like hitting the biggest pothole ever. So yeah, it happened.
I disagree with you on El Toro. Yes, it hurts you a bit, but it is totally worth it. The ride is just so crazy and intense. No coaster in the park comes close to it IMO.
My favorite roller coasters here I only been on. I have not been on Kindga Ka yet Medusa Green lantern Superman Batman Jersey devil Nitro Skull mountain Runaway mine train El Toro Harley Quinn Joker
I know we are in the minority, but Nitro is also my number 1. Kingda Ka is too short, and El Toro is too rough, so Nitro wins it for being more consistent. I love to marathon it.
Honestly shocked toro ain’t 1 lol. Nitro at 4 for me. Then Ka and then Jersey Devil and ofc toro takes the top spot. I rode it in 2022 for my first time and thought it was insane.
I would have put Superman lower and Medusa higher for sure. Also would have put Runaway Train lower just because it's uncomfortable. Trains are too small and I'm not a big guy.
I still think El Toro barely beats Nitro, even if I was 52 year old when visiting Great Adventure in late May/early June 2022. Nitro is longer, taller, faster and has more duration (the most of ANY B&M hyper) as well as more duration of airtime but it doesn't beat other B&M hypers as much as El Toro beats wooden roller coasters which are now rare. I think I'd prefer The Voyage, but of all the coasters I have ridden: I prefer Behemoth, Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance and The Cyclone to El Toro or anything else at Six Flags Great Adventure. I also prefer Raging Bull to Nitro. But that doesn't mean I don't think that Six Flags Great Adventure isn't one of the best amusement parks in the world. Since my only night rides at Six Flags Great Adventure were in 1981: I never saw NYC from KK. But in 2022 during the day: I saw NYC from El Toro, and Medusa. But it takes no effort on a clear day to see NYC from Nitro: the coaster most likely to be able to see NYC from SFGA from. On the 1st camelback you can also see the top of the airplane hanger at Lakehurst if you look to the east/right. Nitro also has the most prime ride time of any B&M hyper, having the longest track length B&M other than Leviathan and Fury 325. It also has 10 drops; the most of any B&M hyper, even if 3 out of 10 of them are too bent to provide airtime. Raging Bull has airtime in unexpected places for a B&M hyper, which only goes to show that sometimes it takes riding to form an opinion, which I sometimes find surprising. I never thought I'd like it better than Nitro, yet... But in 2022: I can see why one would like Nitro better than El Toro. It's almost 50/50 for me. The only reason I think El Toro is better is because El Toro is more rare and isn't beaten by anything like it. But I've ridden 2 other B&M hypers I like better than Nitro. (not including Leviathan) If it makes you feel better: I think Nitro is better than Leviathan: just not as good as Behemoth imo. I'll let you know how Diamondback compares after June since I'm planning on taking my fist trip to K.I. then. Thanks for posting this great SFGA coaster countdown: I'm happy to have finally visited in May/June 2022 for the 1st time since August 1981; almost 41 years. CHEERS!
I agree… I have nitro at number one… But I have medusa ranked above Kingda Ka. I don’t really care for Ka at all. Jersey Devil is also struggling to hold at my number 4.
Jesus and God are gonna love you no matter what and do and love you guys and all no matter what and are always gonna be there for you no matter what!! 🙏🫶

@@XscreamThrills Well said, it really does!
It was the first one that I had ridden from the park and it is still my favorite
Nitro holds a special place in my heart because it’s the ride that turned all 4 of my cousins into coaster enthusiasts
I was expecting nitro to be 2. Everyone always says toro is 1.
Kudos for resisting peer pressure toward putting El Toro at #1. What YOU like matters. I had a similar experience at Lake Compounce. Superman is such a good name though, even if its overused.
I know POVs don't always tell the whole story, but I'm very excited to try Medusa. The layout looks really fun.
Rode El Toro yesterday, and if you take the second to last row, it's super smooth. Back row is a wheel seat and its way rougher. El toro is still the top dog for me!
Green lantern is one of my favorite rides so I would rank it towards the top
The Harley Quinn train before green lantern is crazyyy lmao (but I agree standing up is terrible)
Not to mention the headbanging on Green Lantern is brutal.

14. Lil Devil

10. Superman Ultimate Flight (one of my favorite kiddie coasters)
9. Runaway Mine Train
8. Skull Mountain
7. Batman the Ride
6. Jersey Devil
5. Green Lantern (almost moved up to # 4 after last year's visit)
4. Medusa
3. Nitro
2. Kingda Ka (not too far off from being # 1)
1. El Toro (negatives acknowledged, but it's still my favorite in the park)
I think El Toro is getting a great overhaul. They seem to be putting care into it and I hope its good
Runaway mine train actually ran pretty good this year I must admit. Airtime was good and the janky transitions were fun and not painful. However Medusa in 2022 gave me a 45 minute headache from the cobra roll onwards 🤣🤣🤣
That ejector hill is one of the most scary airtime moments I've experienced
You are spot on with NITRO ❤best coaster on the park for years now . Gets better with age 💥needs a repaint .
Thank you thank you thank you I Love My Park I love all rides in my Park but I would have to say n Nitro is still my number one in the park long-lasting airtime Hills and a longer experience and still the second tallest roller coaster in the park Kingda Ka roller was built but every time I get on Nitro is still reminds me of 2001
Worked on nitro in 2011 was one of my favorites.
Worked lighting loops in 1990 plus many other rides trainer for 4 ...lead for 1
We have the same top 5, I have 1 and 3 switched though
It’s a shame Jersey Devil is getting rattly I hope it gets fixed I’ve noticed it but I have too much fun on it for it to bother me
I don't like green lantern cuz its really shaky especially on the last few inversions and it bangs your head, also when I went the seat was in the highest position and it wouldnt go down so I was kinda dangling from it a bit. I asked the ride attendant when its gonna go down and she said "no" ☠☠☠

Ok, I knew something happened, just wasn't sure what actually happened :)
When I rode Boulder Dash, I said, "I have to believe El Toro isn't this rough!" and was looking forward to trying it. Thanks for the warning. LOL.
I love this park!!
Lantern is a bit rough yes, but some of the rides above it are hard to justify lol no matter how rough haha
Nah, it can get pretty painful lol
Wish they would not so much retheme skull mountain, but refurbish with more indoor tricks or visuals. But still a fun ride.
I disagree with you on El Toro. Yes, it hurts you a bit, but it is totally worth it. The ride is just so crazy and intense. No coaster in the park comes close to it IMO.
I’ve only ridden Joker like 4 or 5 times and all of those times I got boring janky rides I don’t ride it anymore
Bizarro>Medusa because it had the flamethrowers that got removed now
Dark knight used to have good theming but they got rid of so much of it over time
I never remember good theming, though that intro was pretty interesting
I only rode The Dark Knight once the year it opened at that’s all
Agreed on nitro
thank you for the video
El Toro seemed to be getting a little slower in 2021 and 2022
I’m looking forward to seeing the new fourth train on Nitro this year
My favorite roller coasters here I only been on. I have not been on Kindga Ka yet
Medusa
Green lantern
Superman
Batman
Jersey devil
Nitro
Skull mountain
Runaway mine train
El Toro
Harley Quinn
Joker
Nitro is the only coaster there I marathoned lol
14. S:UF. 13. Lil Devil. 12. Hq. 11. Skull. 10. Lantern. 9. Dark Knight. 8. Joker. 7. RMT. 6. Medusa. 5. Jersey Devil Cheeseburger. 4. [Batman] The Ride. 3. Toro. 2. Nitro. 1. KAAAAA!
I know we are in the minority, but Nitro is also my number 1. Kingda Ka is too short, and El Toro is too rough, so Nitro wins it for being more consistent. I love to marathon it.
Nitro is a solid hyper coaster! Glad more people are giving it the love it deserves
Controversial opinion: El Toro is one of my least favorite wooden coasters
Honestly shocked toro ain’t 1 lol. Nitro at 4 for me. Then Ka and then Jersey Devil and ofc toro takes the top spot. I rode it in 2022 for my first time and thought it was insane.
nitro is a walking w
Did you work here before? At JD?
Never worked there before
I would have put Superman lower and Medusa higher for sure. Also would have put Runaway Train lower just because it's uncomfortable. Trains are too small and I'm not a big guy.
Hot take but the super man was kinda boring to me but I understand why it’s to simulate like your flying through the sky
El Toro is still my number 1 here I have Jersey Devil at my number 2 and Nitro at my number 3

Nitro my favorite
Ok, hot take, i think Batman was horrible, jerky with no soul. Did not like. I am much more a Superman, Kinda Ka, Nitro and El Toro fan.
Glad I didn’t ride it then. Went there today and that coaster had the shortest line and people walked off the ride with a frown
Jesus and God are gonna love you no matter what and do and love you guys and all no matter what and are always gonna be there for you no matter what!! 🙏🫶
Nah green lantern is the best
