    Everyone in South Africa is dealing with the hardships post-apartheid differently. The adults lean on traditions and religion while the youth take away the pain with drinking and partying and numbing the pain and struggle. But in this video they mirror their actions showing that we all do have a common ground and can come together to move forward. We are connected through spirit

      Anele Malinga I would just like to remind you that the ANC have been in power for 24 years. The effects of apartheid should have been completely gone now for several years yet our country is still faced with corruption.
      We as a nation need to stop blaming apartheid and start criticising who we vote for.

    • @gdoggs_Ooohydawny
      @gdoggs_Ooohydawny 7 лет назад +61

      You talk as if apartheid government was in power for just 24 years or less. Our problems started in 1652 and give us the space to deal with our problems our own way. Black people in RSA have had to learn to cope since then and to change something that seems like it's culture/tradition can not be wished away by people who have no inherent understanding of our pain. I have never been raped so I can never say I understand how it feels and start telling rape victims to get over it... same whatsapp group

    • @annabambamjerky
      @annabambamjerky 7 лет назад +79

      "The effects of apartheid should have been completely gone now". Please go say that to a holocaust survivor. How dare you even insinuate that a group of people, that you clearly don't belong to, should just not feel how they feel. Nowhere did I mention the effects of apartheid on the countries technical functionalities (even though there are plenty of examples of that too). This song simply speaks on scarred mentality and how that affects the people who have been affected by the past (they can be African, white, Indian, coloured etc. but this song focuses on African people) and effectively how and where they raise their children. I hope you learn and grow as a person instead of finding any chance to tell people to get over it while you sit on your high horse behind a computer screen.

    This song played at my wedding, all the guests were on the dancefloor, prior to this I never heard this song, 2 years later my husband (American) plays this song via RUclips, I always wondered who the artist is, every time I hear this song, I get tears in my eyes...beautiful memories of a beautiful union and a beautiful day

    KWESTA's video for his song Spirit has to be one the best representation of the socio-economic and Political landscape in South Africa.
    The best thing on the video are the edits which are pretty simple but all the scenes are connected and there is coherence through the different sequences. The video incorporates everything that has to do with SA, violence, tradition, culture, religion, alcohol abuse, rap culture, kwaito, prostitution and xenophobia. He also pays homage to another fallen hero/soccer star from his location/town...that was amazing.
    Besides that, the video is also a great way of executing product placement without making it obvious to the viewer...that's something we can learn from in Namibia. You enjoy the video so much you actually forget product placements and advertising for Heineken, Adidas, Score energy drink, Mr Price Red inc, VW and Lamborghini.
