I remember when cars of this vintage were new on the dealers lots and trying to think of how I could raise the $4000 or so to buy one 😊. Never would have thought they would be this collectable and expensive half a century later.
    Thanks for this video!

Not only are they collector vehicles they are quality built to last even 80s and 90's cars prices went thru the roof because late models are made of abs plastic and chewing gum lol

I love 67 Chevelle's and bought a gold SS in 1978 for $500 minus only the 396 but including all other parts. Stuck a 396 in it my brother in law had and drove it as my hobby car for the next 4 year's. Built a second 396 to about 425 hp. over the 2nd year and also painted it Marina Blue. Had lots of fun and loved the experience of building a hot rod big block in my daddy's garage. The right bolt on parts and a few internal pieces really woke that thing up and it held together till right before I sold the car. The engine then went in a hotrod ski boat which the kid couldn't get the money out of his wallet fast enough after going for a ride with me. Good times those were. Nobody wanted muscle cars in the late 70's besides drag racers. Love to be able to get one for $500 today!

Whenever I see video's like this reminds me when we had the oil embargo in the 70s. People were dumping their muscle cars like yesterday's newspaper. There was a curbside used car lot filled with every gas sucking, tire smoking muscle car that had rolled off the factory line. You could buy a 3 year old chevelle SS 396 for $1,500 and a 69 Dodge Challenger with a 383 Magnum for $1,800 and other muscle cars that would make any car lover drool for almost nothing. And now look what these cars go for now at auction.

I bought a 1972 Charger with a 440 with 59-K miles on it in 1978 for $1,250.00 . It was owned by a family in their 30’s so it was not raced . It was recently painted metallic green and had slot mags . I was 16 and 1/2 years old. I saved most of the money delivering news papers when I was a kid . The inside of the car smelled like a new car . I picked up a good friend Rhonda I went too school with and see was jumping up in the seat smiling and she was happy for me and said the car smelled like her moms new Ford Mustang . I was on RT 1 in Elkridge , Maryland and pulled up next to a Chevy Duce owned by a local man in our town and I smoked him in a race and he was so pissed off that he was throwing up his arms in disbelief . He had a 327 Small Block and it was built by Coleman brothers speed shop. His car was a four speed that’s why I won the race . Yes my car probably had close to 300 HP . That’s not much compared to today’s standards. That torque flight automatic transmission was great and I won a lot of races with that car . I really wanted a Chevelle SS but most of them I looked at had over 100 thousand miles on them and see a hard life.
We road around all night listening to Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith and Black Sabbath And Nazareth 8 Track tapes and smoking weed and driving over 7 hills College Avenue That has very steep hills in Elliott City , Maryland at 60 plus MPH . Now that I think back too them days I am lucky to be alive . God I miss the 1970’s .
Thank God I grew up in the United States of America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The Chevelle was totaled when I was hit broadside, passenger side 😢

Wow, I bet that single snorkel air cleaner the on the gold '66 kills it's performance. I had a '77 Monza bracket car and I put a single snorkel air cleaner on it once, just for fun. It lost .7 seconds in the quarter mile and it had a mostly stock 350. I guess that's why so many people used to flip the air cleaner lids back in the day! Great videos, thanks!!!

She factory ordered it new in 66 as a wedding present from her father. Absolutely the most beautiful original pristine car Ive ever owned I was loaded like ive never seen another this day with the options mine had. 327 powerglide with buckets no console (A LADY ORDERED IT!)
Factory AC , 8 track 5 speakers ( one on the dash ), walnut wheel rare never seen another, speed warning indicator , cruise control , tilt wheel, Rally wheels , remote mirror , power windows , bumper guards cant remember any more wish she'd ticked off 3 speed auto on the console but ........ i paid $1300 for it . Ended up owning three more Malibus after that.

Never forget the time I was 19 and looking for a car of any kind to drive and ran across a aqaintence I hadn't seen in several years, he told me he had a old Ford that had been in his garage for about. 7 years. His parents hAd gave it to him when he graduated college but it was used & needed work& he didn't like it. He also told me there was at least one more in there but it was a chevyin the same kind of shape.,. needless to say he was driving a new Mercedes at the time and he had inherited the farm & had no brothers or sisters. He set a time to meet & told me that if I was interested in them I could have them both for 1000$. I was expecting at best a couple of rust buckets that wouldn't be worth there money inn.scrap!! BROTHER WAS I SUPRISED!!!!!sitting before me was 1976 original cobra mustang, high performance 302( they didn't call them 5.0 back the ) blue & white leather interior, original rims& the numbers matched!!!..and if that wasn't good enough! Are you ready for this? I had only seen one I. My life and it had been so modified it looked nothing like the original!!!!..I literally peeed my pants a little...lol.. sitting there was a 1969 El Camino SS factory bored from a 396 to a402 original hurstrock crusher 4 speed swivel bucket seats!! And EVERY number matched, engine block, frame, everything & even had the original sport two peice rims & caps....I thought I was in the twilight zone..LMAO...I bought both autos needless to say I kept & drove the Cobra for about 6 years & sold it for 12,000$ & had to do very little to it, serviced the tranny, filters, fluid, shift kit & such believe it or not the engine never burned more than a 16 th of a quart of oil between changes. My biggest mistake was not knowing how rare the El Camino SS with the factory 402 was!! I was still pretty young (23) two weeks after purchasing it had a old timer, or was to me at the time ( approximately 45-50 ) make me a offer that made me think he was insane, but you need to understand both of these cars were in at least 85-90% condition with all matching numbers.& Years later I found out what the SS was truely worth!!! So toend this tragic tale, I guess the 80,000$ I got for the El Camino S S 396 factory bored to a 402 with Hurst 4 speed wasn't a bad deal. Being this is the year 2018 & this all happened in the year 1982But DAMN I wish I still had the SS! Ànd the original Cobra mustang as far as that goes!! Well that's my heartbreaking story!...good luck and good hunting Hot Rodders.,J.D.W.

Had a 65 SS with 327 , 375 horse and rock krusher 4 speed, even had leather trim along the OUTSIDE of the trunk lid!!!!I was the one who was talking about the 1969 El Camino SS with the 4 speed & factory bored 402! Like I said in my first account I've owned more old rods any man has a right to, don't get me wrong, I'm in no way 4ich, or even well off.. I've just been lucky! My first car I had when I was 14 ( I lived in the kentucky hills ) I had a cousin (& a red head at that) bought me a car as a joke, now the joke was supposed to be because it was a baby shit yellow Impala! But the joke was on her, the ugly yellow Impala had a 327, 375 horse with a 2 speed poewer glide, two door! I have many, many more car stories to tell but I'm sure your tired of hearing them & probably bored also! Maybe I'll tell another one in a week or so, just keep the great car stories coming!!

My 67 325hp 4 gear no instruments drum brake had the strip as it was standard equipment on the 138 SS and was removed by many owners on Day 2 or by the dealer.

Anybody that's being honest will tell you Kansas SS Chevelles had the L on the trim tag. I've had 3 70 Chevelles from Kansas all had the L. Only reason why there's a few people that don't believe all the ss Kansas cars had the L is because of a few early built Ls6 Chevelles didn't have the L. Clearly there was a rush to squeeze out a couple early Ls6 Chevelle so they took the next body of the line. Therefore building a couple ls6 Chevelles without the L.... Great Video as always Patrick👍

Contrary to most people's beliefs.. Most SS Chevelles come low horse automatic cars with no gauges and air conditioning. Most all your Special High Performance or Square Port solid lifter cars are very limited production units. As much as everyone loves them there not family cars. How many 18 year old kids could have bought that 69 Brand New? On the other hand most SHP cars were 4 speed. Lol

Sorry I have to say I was a little disappointed when he opened the door as the G Body tail lights stared right at me. I was expecting to see a pair of 1970 SS 454 Monte Carlo's. But the G Body's were nice looking none the less. Nice Collection the 67's were my fav.
The Burgandy 67 apparently had a owner who was afraid of being side swiped.. "Marker Lights" It was the 1968 Model Year Gov't mandated For all Manufactures selling autos in the US to equip their vehicle with. Same with the 3 point safety belt system. Which was invented by a Volvo Engineers & debuted in 1959. Useless knowledge is just Awesome. LMAO

    Hello Patrick,
My name is Jeremy Newhart. First off I’ve gotta give credit where credit is due, I’ve learned so much about big block Chevys since watching your videos. I wish I knew what you’ve forgot about big blocks over the years. When you mention a specific part number like 827DV (non converted Yenko Nova video) then 824DV (Green Yenko Indianapolis, IN video) high performance water pump pulley
are they different numbers due to two different engine sizes? Do the reproduction parts carry the same part number as the original part number?
    Thanks, Jeremy
