2.5 years ago we finally changed the front office, they had…
    - 4th overall pick
    - all future picks
    - tons of cap
    - lavine on 20mil contract
    - 3 straight previous 7th overall picks
Fast forward to now we have…
    - no own tradable firsts through 28’
    - no cap space
    - no great future talent (maybe Pwill?)
    - depreciating assets
    - head coach on secret extension
AK has been questionable to say the least in particularly his roster construction, but honestly I’m even more mad at Jerry who cares about money not winning. Where does this team even go? Accept our fate this year and then tank going forward because our pick to the spurs is only continuously top 8 protected? Yikes

I think a big issue is that AKME were brought into the Bulls org to end the cycle of rebuilding in favor of making win-now moves. They brought in players and FO personnel based on the idea that this team will be a 5th seed or better for the next few years and they can't produce that. Moving back into a rebuild however, would mean pissing off everyone who was sold on the idea of being part of a play-off organization. It'd gut the FO that was basically completely revamped when GarPax left and would piss off a lot of players the Bulls wouldn't want to trade.

Obviously the Pelicans are in very different circumstances and have far more hope than the Bulls or a lot of teams. But they can’t generate momentum or even be a consistently good team until the team is healthy for a full season. Since Z and Bi joined the Pels one of the few things they’ve proved is that can’t stay healthy outside of that weird SVG season. It’s frustrating because the Pelicans have such a high ceiling but it just feels so out of reach because of all the major injuries.

  • @chunk5465

Billy Donovan is a good coach. He's talented and understands the game at a high level. He has outcoached some great basketball minds. To make a superteam work though (Vuc, Lavine, Derozan), you need a "players coach," one of those ex players or whoever who will kind of just let guys go run around and play the game however they want. Doc Rivers is a great example. Ty Lue is another. You saw Frank Vogel have to change the way he coached, and Steve Nash as well, in order to accomodate egos. Guys like Brad Stevens, David Blatt, John Beilein, Monty Williams, Mike Woodson and now Donovan have shown they can get a lot from a little, but convincing superstars with massive egos to buy into a system where they play a role as opposed to every role is almost impossible in the league today. It's why lots of coaches can't make the jump from coaching college: all the strategy and gamesmanship from that level doesn't really transfer. It's as much about managing and keeping people happy as it is about actual basketball.
(Spoelstra with the Miami team is certainly an exception but I can't think of many others.)

nothing changed, still a ceiling with a first round exit, this time no pick in 2024. atleast the product will be more fun with a unselfish player like jakob changing the play style away from iso heavy chucking that they usually play.

I’m a bulls fan, but Zach is overrated. He’s a complainer and he acts like he deserves to be treated like a top 10 player, when he’s not.

As a Pacers fan, this win was terrible for us, too. We gotta keep losing. Don't want to make the play-in. Going to be hard to compete in sucking with a Bulls team that looks like it's completely given up. The Bulls really look like the Pacers before the Sabonis/ Haliburton trade last year. Except they still look like it after the deadline instead of rebuilding like they should.

Kenny, I don't feel even remotely bad for the Bulls. They've done literally all of this to themselves. And as a Bucks fan, it brings me happiness.
However, you are obviously and clearly invested in the franchise emotionally. As a result, I admit that I do feel bad for you. And, like, 4 other Chicago fans.

It's like watching a bus full of people going towards the edge of a cliff and you can move the stirring wheel left or right and survive but you don't. You just keep going straight.
The big trio was never a good idea. All three of them think they are the alfa type, but none of them trully are. And don't want do adapt.

In todays nba the worst thing you can be is mediocre. You gain nothing from it. You aren’t in position to be a playoff contender and you likely aren’t gonna be picking an immediate game changer in the draft.

The bulls are just a trash franchise. I'm sad to say it as a Bulls fan but its true. The 2 times in their history they were good was because they got an all time great player in the draft. Thats it. They have never been able to put together a contending team through conventional means. As in drafting good late round guys, making trades, signing free agents. That has literally never happened in this franchises history. They got good when they got Jordan and got good when they got Rose. Other than that the best they have ever been able to do is be a middle of the pack playoff team a couple of times. Seriously, you can not list one thing this franchise has done well historically. They draft poorly, they make poor trades, they sign bad free agents, they hire bad coaches, they fire good coaches. You're talking about a franchise that ran the only 2 good coaches it ever had out of town because the idiot management wanted it done their way. Nobody in charge of this team has a clue and nobody is willing to admit they don't have a clue and hire people that do.

I don't watch enough of bulls games but i always wonder "how can they be so bad?". On paper they look like a really solid team. But every time i watch them I'm especially underwhelmed by LaVine. Maybe they should move on from him, dunno. It just doesnt work with those guys or It's maybe the coach who doesnt figure out how this team can work. I rly don't understand this team.
