Here are some historical facts about Illustrious and Ryuuhou as their time as ships
Illustrious was laid down in 1937 and would be launched in 1939, she was the lead ship of 4 illustrious class carriers(the others being Formidable, Victorious and Indomitable), she and her sisters were the royal navy's main carriers during the war. As a aircraft carrier Illustious would bear the pennent/hull number 87. Illustrious would go on to have a pretty eventful career taking part in convoys and taking part in action allowing her to receive 10 battle honours during world war 2. She would survive the war but would be later sold of and scrapped in late 1956.
Ryuuhou was laid down and launched in 1933. She started her career originally named Taigei as a submarine tender ship instead of being a light aricraft carrier and would be converted into a light aircraft carrier in 1942 and would then go on to bare the name of Ryuuhou. She was the only ship of her class. Unlike Illustrious Ryuuhou had a pretty uneventful career mainly being used as a cargo, training ship and escort ship for other damaged ships she did see some action later in the war but wasnt that successfull. Azur lanes attention to detail, attention to lore, and the wholesome way it treats its community has made it easily the best gacha game imo, as an example they recently started 6star characters in gacha events and I've been able to get all 3 of them by just playing the game and earning 50+ summons a week.
Warning though it will suck you in a wrench your heart with its story telling

I saw that Illustrious figure in the pre-owned section of AmiAmi ages ago when I was browsing through the website and didn't really think much of her. Now I'm really regretting not getting her then and there.

I started recently, and honestly, the only thing that's REALLY gonna cost money are the skins. You might get unlucky in some event rolls, but for the most part, the game is SUPER f2p friendly.
Also, you're gonna be spending the premium currency more on dock space more than skins

Did you get the Taihou figure? It's also by Kotobukiya. But they used her base design though instas of one of her skins.
I really thought to get Ryuuhou, but because of some preorder delays the next 2 months will be hell, walletwise.

@@KenKen004 I guess that’s a little bit true until I get roped back in on vanguard and Weiss Schwarz that’s the only reason why I was able to buy my figure there wasn’t any cards I want.
I stopped playing azur lane because I was spending too much on skins but I've bought most of the azur lane figures so I think it would've been better to just keep playing.

banger video as always bestie, I got the same koto Illustrious figure (for free, hell yeah) through a friend of a friend of a friend, she was missing her chair and little flight deck runway thingy but WOW is she gorgeous. Almost beautiful enough for me to start playing gatcha games..... almost. I've got her in storage for now but I plan on making on her a whole custom tea party themed base when I have the time!
