Believe it or not this hymn was actually written in 1963 buy a gentleman who felt as though some of the new contemporary worship lacked true worship of our savior and called more attention to the band up on stage. He said he wanted to steer away from calling any attention to the people who were singing on stage and come back to music that focused on the lyrics to Jesus. He wrote it in 1963 so as hymns go this is actually a very new hymn.... But I think we can all agree it's an instant classic
