Hope this guide helped you! I made an updated video going into more details on balancing this gimbal and answering some of the questions here. Check it out on my channel!
It's funny because where mine is balanced I can open the battery compartment but there isn't enough clearance to take the battery fully out. You're lucky if you can do that!
To do this with the Weebill S you would need an L bracket to put the camera vertically which I do not have currently. I'll see if I can make a guide on this though.
Cam on man! That was really helpful for me. I have the a7iii and planning to buy the Sigma 24-70 Art. This was helpful. I was planning for the RSC looking at the payload but saw that the headroom is too bad there. With this one, that shouldnt be the issue. What would be your long term review with this one? How is the weebill doing now?
Thanks you! I still use the weebill S currently and it is still holding up really well. I've used the sigma 24-70, tamron 28-75, and several prime lenses like the 35 and 55 and the weebill S holds them no problem!
@@hoangpham why do you need to attach an external motor? There are lenses that are controllable via LANC remote control. They don’t need any external motor for that. Is there any gimbal that can manage that without external motor?
@@fredericsidler That is more common with cinema lenses and cameras so if you have that setup maybe you can get that to work. For most DSLR/mirrorless configurations they will need a focus motor. I don't know enough about LANC remote controls with gimbals to be able to help you much there.

(i dint try it cause i dont wanna end up again with a brand new broken gimbal :P)
Hello, yes the motors have to be on for it to work, it won't stay balanced without them on. You can adjust the motor strength as well to make sure they are balanced properly when at 75 or 28, though I've been using the gimbal's auto motor strength setting and that's worked fine for me.
Search for this particular video bcs i have the same set up, great video. But I see you have a different riser plate there. Can you tell me what if you’re using a different one and where did you get it?
@05_nathanaeldavidhalasson82 the lens will be more front heavy with a filter on so you will probably balance at a wider focal length maybe 35-40mm depending on how heavy the filter is.
YAS. i have the same gimbal, and I am really considering hard getting the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for a one-lens workflow. currently having the 35mm and 85mm primes and it's a pain to swap lenses and rebalance
That's a good question! I'm not sure. I don't have an L bracket mount to try this so yeah... but with a lighter prime lens I'm fairly sure you can. Not sure if a heavier setup would work as the weight might be elevated too high but I'm not sure.
Dude how?? I have a Sony a7iii and Sigma 24-70mm and having a tough time balancing with the Weebill S. It's front heavy. Even at 24mm, let alone 45-50mm. Any tips? Does that custom mounting plate your using make a difference?
Its a quick release plate, not necessary to balance with it. I go over that plate and balancing it without that place in the part 2 video I have on my channel on balancing this gimbal if you want to check that out!
Hi, do you use another kind of quick release plate? I use the one which came with the standard package. However, sony with the sigma 24-70mm is still front heavy when the camera is totally slided bacck
Hey so I do use the 3 Legged Thing arca swiss plate. I've gotten a few comments about the lens being front heavy so let me look into it and try taking the plate off and I will update everyone with my findings.

I have a Mark 5D4 and a canon 24-70 mm 2.8 lens. I couldn’t balance it at all, no clearance. Is it because my camera is bigger than the one you are using? Also, my camera does not have the multi usb input that comes with the weebill S. Do I need an adapter?
The 5DM4 is both heavier and larger than the sony A7iii that I used, so I think the size is the issue, like you said not having clearance. I am unsure of the multi port adapter as I don't normally use it though I know they did design it Sony compatible but not sure what is needed for Canon.
Hi. I hope you can help me. I have no idea what am I doing wrong. I am trying to balance a Sony A7r3 with the 24-70GM for example the tilt motror is perfectly level and horizontal, wont fall front or back and same thing with everything but when I point the lens somewhere it goes back to horizontal on everything :(. What should I do? Thanks a lot
What do you mean when you point the lens somewhere it goes back to horizontal on everything? Do you mean when the gimbal is off and you turn the gimbal?
The Crane 2 can hold a slightly heavier payload so I think overall it handles the change a bit better. The Weebill S still performs very well even when changing focal lengths and I haven't had any issues with it.
Heyy I'm planning to to buy this gimbal But I'm not really sure that it'll be able to balance my setup I've a sony A7Riii with 24-70 g master lens ? Can it take its pay load?
So I use the a7iii with the sigma 24-70 and its a tad lighter than the a7riii with the gmaster 24-70 so I cant be certain but from my testing with my setup, I believe it should be able to balance it.
I haven't gotten to test that lens with the A7SIII yet. I know for some people they have taken the eyepiece off the camera to allow for underslung mode. Using riser plates may help some as well. If I get the change to test that setup out I'll let you know what I find!
Hm, that's surprising, any particular axis giving you trouble? That lens is a tad heavier than the sigma 24-70 I used but I can't imagine it would be enough to make it not balance. I am using the 3 Legged Thing arca swiss plate
@@weenbeanproductonswbp8401 Check out my latest video, I balance the D750 on the Weebill S and am able to go into underslung mode without hitting the eyepiece
How are you able to adjust the zoom lens with one hand? If I try this, the gimbal will tilt, so i have to put the gimbal down, hold the camera with the one hand and adjust the zoom lens with the other hand. Is there any trick, or is it better to turn off the gimbal when i adjust the zoom lens?
So I use my pinky and ring finger to hold the lens and camera in place while twisting the lens to zoom and for me this works with my setup. I do use a quick release plate to raise the camera above the default base plate so the lens doesn't have any added friction with the plate. In an updated gimbal balancing video I took the quick release plate off and noticed that it was hard to zoom with only one hand.
That's interesting. I haven't gotten to test it with the A7c, but my initial thought is that the A7c is lighter than the A73 and I'm wondering if because of it's lightness the center of gravity is too far forward and you can't move the camera back far enough. You could try balancing it at less than 50mm, maybe 35mm or less to see if that would work. Let me know if you are able to balance it at something less than 50.
Dude could I leave my cage on the camera or should I take it off. Also when I do certain movements the gimbal begins to vibrate a lot. What is that orange thing under the camera v
You may be able to leave the cage on depending on how heavy it is and how it shifts the center of gravity of the setup but if you want to be safe then take it off. If the gimbal vibrates a lot then the center of gravity is too off balance for the motors to correct. You can fix that by either making the motor strength stronger or removing any extra weight to make the payload lighter. There may be some cases where the motors simply cannot handle the weight. The orange thing is a quick release plate listed in the description.
You probably could put a lens hood on, it might make it a bit more unstable at the widest or most zoomed settings but i think if you calibrate the motors and balance it right you might be able to pull it off. I've used fairly heavy ND filters while on the gimbal without issues. Just gotta make sure to rebalance it when putting it on.
I feel like because of the design of the tamron 70-180 and how it doesn't have a foot like the sony 70-200, combined with how light a crop sensor camera is, you won't be able to move the camera back far enough to get it balanced
Hard to say for sure, but the 85mm should work as it is lighter than the 24-70. Make sure it is fully balanced properly. Are you using the weebill S as opposed to the weebill lab?
