    Ah, I'm a dealer with Global Ordnance and I haven't been paying attention, apparently missed the pistol I wanted. For those of you who haven't handled a GP pistol your missing out. I have some pistols that costs 4-5x as much and the trigger in a GP is better than 90% of them. I ordered a GP X-Calibur for a client "he said surprise me, pick what you think I should by. Meanwhile, he ordered a SIG 10mm Hunter Elite, both pistols arrived at the same time for transfer. He was more than pissed to realize a $750 pistol which had a DA/SA trigger had a better SA trigger than his SA 10mm pistol. Also, he spent like $1800 on that darn gun, what a scam. As Graham, demonstrated the re-assembly on these pistols, will make your want to throw it across the room. I didn't watch a video or read anything just went for it and it took me 45+ minutes the first time, 2nd time, 1 minute, its was a training issue. GP's are also accurate, my HK P30L struggles to keep up.

    Overall I really like this pistol and would like to have one. Except, I'd have to work on the top of the slide to remove all of those milling cuts. A flat top and rounded edges would dramatically improve the look of the top of that slide that currently looks (to me) like unfinished machining.

    I posted before you mentioned barrel length. I agree. Personally I won’t go shorter than 4” for a compact and anything leading up to 5” with a preference for the latter.
    I’m sure the 3 and 3.5” .45’s will still save one’s bacon but I feel more confident with a minimum of four inches .

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  Год назад +2

      Yes, of course no one wants to be shot with anything, but there's something to be said for using the barrel length the round was designed to perform in. There are loads out there now intended for short barrels, but in general it's 4" for 9mm and 5" for 45 acp.

    Some people might wonder why some double stack .45’s hold only 10 in the mag when others hold 12, 13 or 14.
    It’s the width of the magazine. The 10 rounders like the S&W M&P, the Ruger SR45 and Ruger American, the discontinued SIG P227, the CZ 97b and the HK45 use magazines the same width as a 9mm double stack. So being narrower means the staggering of rounds is steeper. Less room for fat cartridges.
    I learned this a long time ago when HK introduced the USP 45 Compact. It held 8 rounds in the magazine and I wondered why it was a 4 round difference between the full sized USP and the Compact. I was expecting it to hold 10 for the shorter magazine.
    Well, my lgs had the Compact so I brought my full sized USP .45 mag and compared. Clear difference in width. So when HK created the compact they decided they wanted to do more than “chop” the slide length and grip. They redesigned the Compact to have a narrower grip for a better feel.
    The “mid capacity” .45’s tend to feel better in most shooters hands but there’s no free lunch. Fitting more hands means fewer rounds.
    Anyway, that’s my long-winded explanation.

  • @five-oonsene545
    @five-oonsene545 Год назад

    I have several of these and the only knock i have on all of them is the cheap, too short plastic trigger. You can get a very nasty pinch between the bottom of the trigger and the trigger guard. If someone would make an aftermarket trigger and hammer for these guns i would buy one in an instant. My Wife, with her small fingers refuses to shoot these now because of the nasty cut she received when her finger got trapped between the bottom of the trigger and the inside of the trigger guard.

    I want to see if anyone else has had this problem recently. I own a p11 and my mag release from day 1 has been STIFFF and even sometimes sticks where u have to press it from the other side to release it. I sent it back to global ordnance and all they did was slap the X Trim over sized mag release button on there basically saying “we found nothing wrong with your mag release and put the larger button on for those who have trouble with pressing it”
    Does anyone else have trouble with their grandpowers and having a stiff and even sometimes sticky mag release? Like I’m no wuss I’m a mechanic, young, and been shooting for years? I only ask because I’m interested in getting another grandpower but after the response from Global and the fact my first and only impression is kind of iffy with a potentially defective model I’m weary. Also it’s been 2 years So it’s def not a break in thing either..
    I just want to see if this truly is the norm or if I got the short end of the stick. Maybe it’s only the newer models?
