    I really enjoy the work Andrew Hawkins puts in to set up his route. He is dictating terms which is half the battle in one on one battles vs DB's. No wasted movement, everything is done with an intent.

    Last time I checked the video was about Andrew Hopkins not the DB's. For those that are talking about the DB's technique remember we are watching them for a reason not the other way around. Also you never know why they lined up how they did pretty sure non of us were in or at the practice.

    • @footba11fan41ife
      @footba11fan41ife 8 лет назад +1

      1on1s are nothing like the real game. No pass rush being the big reason so the timing and throw is always perfect. For example every inside route you see, most times there would be a safety or linebacker there to help the db. In essence it's an unwritten rule that offense is always supposed to win 1on1 drills due to everything being in their favor. Offensively it's an opportunity to work on route running and timing between your wr's and qb's. Defensively it helps you because it's putting you in the worst case scenario all the time which makes the actual game easier.

    • @henrywong9654
      @henrywong9654 8 лет назад

      +footba11fan41ife yea I definitely understand that. I would still think he'd be more productive than he has been from what I see in these clips. But I guess he's on the Browns hahaha

    NGL, Routes are crisp but as a DB I don't understand why these guys are lining up outside of Hawkins. Make the quarterback throw the longer ball and place it perfectly. Also don't see why a lot of the DB's are zone turning in one-on-one's. You lose sight of the receiver and he can just run the opposite way. Also, the head fake won't work if you focus on his hips. Not smart to open the gate in press, let the receiver come to you and disrupt the route right off the line.

    • @BibicalPost
      @BibicalPost 8 лет назад +1

      Easy to say when you're not covering him .. And he's not just doing a head fake every time . Sometimes turns his head shoulders and hips . He's super quick .

    • @terrencejohnson8723
      @terrencejohnson8723 8 лет назад +1

      +RealRappersOnly Any DB knows the hips never lie and that should be your focus... But I agree he is quick

    • @footba11fan41ife
      @footba11fan41ife 8 лет назад +1

      Yeah right don't let 1on1 drills fool you. Pat Pete, revis, Haden, butler, Harris jr, Talib would handle him easily in a real game in my opinion

    • @toluolaitan916
      @toluolaitan916 8 лет назад

      +Andre Jones if there really wasnt hawkins should have MUCH MUCH more than just 1500 career receiver yards. I mean come on man you have receivers that get those yards in 1 season. THOSE are the uncoverable.

    • @rhey81
      @rhey81 8 лет назад +1

    • @footba11fan41ife

    • @lonewolf4172
      @lonewolf4172 7 лет назад

      And what's your experience? Madden don't count. For me it was HS (All League DB in So Cal) and a former D1 DB. I got four championship rings as both a player and former coach with 11 kids in 6 your years that went D1 & D2 in the skill positions.

    • @footba11fan41ife
      @footba11fan41ife 7 лет назад

      Jack Hammer former NCAA athlete played for the number #1 ranked juco in the nation 2012 MGCCC. played under db coach Stevon Moore who played in the NFL for 11 years including under bill belechick and nick saban. I played with and against the best of the best most of our starters went to 4 year schools and half of our defensive backs had SEC offers I was on my way to the SEC as well until a pelvis injury side lined me. What D1 school did u play for Marshall? Lmao

    • @lonewolf4172
      @lonewolf4172 7 лет назад

      Sounds like you had good coaching - Too bad about your injury, Hopefully you went on and got your degree and are pursuing your life's passions.

      Jack Hammer I appreciate the words of encouragement!! Never mind those comments (competitive spirit came out lol) I'm actually back healthy and I'm trying to play at Texas a&m commerce next season. I wanted to finish up my eligibility before I got too old lol plus I need that free education so I can get that degree!! Best of luck to you as well man!

    hawkins is a decent player . but the secondary on every team including college and high school guys are getting worse and worse as time goes on. DBs are a disgrace. turning the wrong way , lining up wrong. maybe these were just cover drills but even still come on yo.

    • @footba11fan41ife
      @footba11fan41ife 7 лет назад +2

      hcscdw1 these are 1 on 1s possibly the hardest drill in all of sports. The offense has the odds about 90/10 in there favor. Wrs usually always win 1on1s especially at the pro level. Who are you to criticize NFL athletes?? Lol

    Man Michael Irvin should have chosen him for the cowboys in 4th and long. Tony Romo nose how to use these type in the slot.
