I really enjoy the work Andrew Hawkins puts in to set up his route. He is dictating terms which is half the battle in one on one battles vs DB's. No wasted movement, everything is done with an intent.
Love to have you in Cleveland, Hawk! Guess we'll see. I shared links to these vids on Twitter so Browns fans can get a preview of you working your magic.
Welcome to the Patriots in 2017 to possibly win your 1st SB. Nothing is guaranteed, but wow AH looks amazing and the Patriots just won SB-LI. They had 31 unanswered pts. in 14 min. of error free play & scoring w/ great WR plays by clutch WR's.
Last time I checked the video was about Andrew Hopkins not the DB's. For those that are talking about the DB's technique remember we are watching them for a reason not the other way around. Also you never know why they lined up how they did pretty sure non of us were in or at the practice.
1on1s are nothing like the real game. No pass rush being the big reason so the timing and throw is always perfect. For example every inside route you see, most times there would be a safety or linebacker there to help the db. In essence it's an unwritten rule that offense is always supposed to win 1on1 drills due to everything being in their favor. Offensively it's an opportunity to work on route running and timing between your wr's and qb's. Defensively it helps you because it's putting you in the worst case scenario all the time which makes the actual game easier.
+footba11fan41ife yea I definitely understand that. I would still think he'd be more productive than he has been from what I see in these clips. But I guess he's on the Browns hahaha
NGL, Routes are crisp but as a DB I don't understand why these guys are lining up outside of Hawkins. Make the quarterback throw the longer ball and place it perfectly. Also don't see why a lot of the DB's are zone turning in one-on-one's. You lose sight of the receiver and he can just run the opposite way. Also, the head fake won't work if you focus on his hips. Not smart to open the gate in press, let the receiver come to you and disrupt the route right off the line.
Easy to say when you're not covering him .. And he's not just doing a head fake every time . Sometimes turns his head shoulders and hips . He's super quick .
+Andre Jones if there really wasnt hawkins should have MUCH MUCH more than just 1500 career receiver yards. I mean come on man you have receivers that get those yards in 1 season. THOSE are the uncoverable.
And what's your experience? Madden don't count. For me it was HS (All League DB in So Cal) and a former D1 DB. I got four championship rings as both a player and former coach with 11 kids in 6 your years that went D1 & D2 in the skill positions.
Jack Hammer former NCAA athlete played for the number #1 ranked juco in the nation 2012 MGCCC. played under db coach Stevon Moore who played in the NFL for 11 years including under bill belechick and nick saban. I played with and against the best of the best most of our starters went to 4 year schools and half of our defensive backs had SEC offers I was on my way to the SEC as well until a pelvis injury side lined me. What D1 school did u play for Marshall? Lmao
Sounds like you had good coaching - Too bad about your injury, Hopefully you went on and got your degree and are pursuing your life's passions. Fight On!!!
Jack Hammer I appreciate the words of encouragement!! Never mind those comments (competitive spirit came out lol) I'm actually back healthy and I'm trying to play at Texas a&m commerce next season. I wanted to finish up my eligibility before I got too old lol plus I need that free education so I can get that degree!! Best of luck to you as well man!
hawkins is a decent player . but the secondary on every team including college and high school guys are getting worse and worse as time goes on. DBs are a disgrace. turning the wrong way , lining up wrong. maybe these were just cover drills but even still come on yo.
hcscdw1 these are 1 on 1s possibly the hardest drill in all of sports. The offense has the odds about 90/10 in there favor. Wrs usually always win 1on1s especially at the pro level. Who are you to criticize NFL athletes?? Lol
Nasty on the one on ones... best job ive ever seen by any receiver. props to him, got serious skills.
He looks like he is one of the best route runners in the NFL
Haitianmo vis
not a bengals fan but love this guy. so explosive.
that shit around 1:48... RIP

RedZone7 Football Ottawa How is his release not wasted movement?? I keep seeing his leg bend first
the fact he never had much of a role (even with his size) and this video is evidence enough of how good the nfl is
My ankles hurt just watching these. Oh my lord were those cuts sharp.
The real question is.. how many did he actually get covered.. because this looks like he's head above heels better than anyone of those guys.
damn this is like the 5th time I watch this video ur amazing hawkins
hawkins footwork is crazy 💯 he's from PA too 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Congrats on the Masters and the 4.0 GPA!
Looking forward great things next season
Welcome to Cleveland!!!! Cant wait til the season starts!!

Looks like a great route runner why isn’t he well known in the nfl
damn welcome to the pats that agility and routrunning is incredible wow.
Humbly the quickest guy he's ever known! Checks out here
Welcome to Cleveland!!!
I need some of these guys on my touch football team

Wow!

that boy can sure move
i need to get like him.
I pray that i can tell everyone "Itold you saw" once i draft you Andrew Hawkins. i know you can do big things. that 4.3 definitely shows
Sheesh

He's a patriot 😳
Jesse holley my ass. Andrew hawkins still here. Wheres jesse.
Super nasty
he should be hell in the slot vs safeties, linebackers, and nickel back 3rd corners.
Where is he now? The browns?
This clip is very impressive. I'm just wondering why this hasn't translated into in game production? Can anybody give me some insight?

+Henry Wong lmao yeah true that not the best supporting cast there
You can't be a football player and dislike this video!
welcome to the patriots
Ankle breakers everywhere
Mannnn he looks sCary bro like it’s not even a plan u can come up with your feet to stop him one on one NO BODYS guarding him
I thought this said Andre Haskins smh🤦🏽♂️😂
pac is the truth 100!! 8:12 if you are a real, db you will understand
Great patience at the line and a smooth speed turn to stay on top. It's a reason PAC had been in the league so long.
GO Bengals
LEL. He's on the Browns.
eric gooch he has been with the Bengals the last few years. He's with the browns this year though.

+RealRappersOnly Any DB knows the hips never lie and that should be your focus... But I agree he is quick
LOL at this guy. You'd get smoked like a freaking turkey
+dpfjdof you don't know a damn thing about me boy. Speak for ya self
Yeah? Well I know you sure as hell don't play in the NFL. SMOKED. He'd toast you real nice, both sides.
He's gone now just retired before Pats training camp...maybe he is not that great after all
There's not a cornerback in the league that can cover him one on one.. Hell no!!
Yea . lol not even revis. he got to much space for 1 on 1 and not help defensively
Yeah right don't let 1on1 drills fool you. Pat Pete, revis, Haden, butler, Harris jr, Talib would handle him easily in a real game in my opinion
+Andre Jones if there really wasnt hawkins should have MUCH MUCH more than just 1500 career receiver yards. I mean come on man you have receivers that get those yards in 1 season. THOSE are the uncoverable.
+Andre Jones So how come he hasn't even sniffed 1000 receiving yards in a season yet?
no reason you should get beat off the line with a stutter step. Esp in the NFL
Poor fundamentals on the DB's part
Jack Hammer I'm guessing you're a NFL defensive back??.... exactly shut up dude
And what's your experience? Madden don't count. For me it was HS (All League DB in So Cal) and a former D1 DB. I got four championship rings as both a player and former coach with 11 kids in 6 your years that went D1 & D2 in the skill positions.

Man Michael Irvin should have chosen him for the cowboys in 4th and long. Tony Romo nose how to use these type in the slot.
U mean knows* lol👃🏽
