  • Living in Colorado & riding your MTB on dirt in the winter is usually a luxury...but you can make it happen just about any time in Pueblo, CO. These trails are the best bang for your buck in terms of travel time & amount of various riding there is in the area! There are big mellow, flowy looks if you're looking for miles - if you're looking for techy flow, the canyons will deliver!
It's easy to spend literal hours in the canyons having sessions & playing around on the features that boast numerous alt lines, which makes doing the same canyon over & over a different trail almost every time.
We live in Longmont, CO so the drive to Pueblo is just a little over two hours which is well worth it to ride dirt, in our opinion, & if you can pull it off going during the week means having the whole place nearly to yourself. I think we saw 5 or 6 people during our 4 hours of riding.
Regardless of if you're looking for a day of big miles or some really fun descents - Lake Pueblo State Park in Pueblo, CO has the goods & is worth the drive.
If you get out there to check it out for yourself, let me know what you think in the comments & if you've been out already I'd love to hear what your favorite trail is!
    Stay RAD,
    -Mike

Nice! I almost attended 'that' ride. I don't know you Sr, but super happy to see you back and conquering your demons. I know it's not easy. Currently looking at a surgical shoulder repair from a crash maybe 8 years ago. Mtb ain't easy but it's worth it! I gotta get to Pueblo soon...

Always hard to pick up the pieces but...thankfully it wasn't worse! Ah man, those surgeries are always daunting going into them but so worth it once you're through the rehab, hope it goes smooth for you!
If you get out to Pueblo we'd love to hear what you think!

That section you and Matt pushed up is accessible if you take a right turn when you get up to the top of Stonehenge.

    • @JoyOfBike
      @JoyOfBike  7 месяцев назад

That makes sense! Once we rode up Stonehenge I figured that’s where that offshoot went but we didn’t go explore it.
We should all go back down there soon!

Thats a cool spot to ride mountain bikes. Ive road dirtbikes there the past 17 years or so, would start down by pmi and ride out there.
Love that spot, havnt road out there for a few years now.
I never took the mountain bikes out there 🤔 that part with the "mini shale rock mountain" with the cliff edges would be fun.

@@JoyOfBike Yeah...Lower Dog into Dead Dog as well as Rock Canyon (great drops all over to session) are two of my favorites.
Yeah...the offshoot in Hooter Canyon (where I fell) is typically ok. I just went with the line to the left, which includes the exposed spine and caught my pedal on the elevated slab on the left. Pulled me straight to the left and off the ledge, ha ha.

I live out there, the Res is a great place to ride, very close to me. But most of the time I drive past it and out to Canon (read as canyon) City and hop on a number of different trails out there, they just have more personality....and shade.
