  • @johnmarcostorresalomar4080
    @johnmarcostorresalomar4080 4 года назад +58

I have both of them and personal i love PS alot more than HLL.
For me what kills HLL is the team play, nobody talk and you don't get that immersion that PS haves. don't get me wrong PS does suffer from this but out of 10 games, about 7 of them my squad communicates, compared to HLL i say its more like 4, and the game it self feels that its less required too do so(ik causal).
The maps on PS are a lot more recognizable and you will learn your surrounding pretty easily while in HLL it feel a lot more bundle together and less fun to play with (i would say this, HLL has way better indoors details, like you know people left in a hurry in those houses while in PS they are just blank buildings).
The gun play is better on HLL , but i do feel getting kills with PS feels more satisfying(personal preference i guess).
PS has a better system for squads; Logistics is a lot more vehicle focus, needing trucks to move the supplies from base to anywhere they are needed(so you basically truck sim 1945), tanks in PS are used more of a strategic vehicle than a destructive one, stopping infantry from coming one way or harassing spawn points. HLL has less variety, with infantry focused Logistics and from my experience tanks are used like if it was Battlefield(not saying is bad, just saying that's not my way of playing)
In gameplay they are pretty much the same, Run, Shoot, cover . But if you have a good squad on any of the games, is one of the best experiences is gaming! That's why its important squad coms.
BUT even tho i do feel PS is better right now, HLL is just starting, HLL could easily pull the carpet under PS's feet if PS is not careful. like BigFry said, HLL has weekly updates, PS does not and they take a while on doing so. So in a year, i could easily be inloved with HLL if they keep updating. They just need to better the sounds, optimize the game, fix some textures here and there and promote squad plays and coms.
Thats what i feel, its fine if you disagree, some of the points might be just personal preferences. But what game to start with right now? PS all the way, at least for now in my opinion.

Your take on the two is really interesting. I would recommend both. I know that's a cop out as the two are so superficially similar but they both have different strengths.
    Hell let Loose:
Death is often but less frustrating because you tend to spawn nearer objectives. Also respawns are ubiquitous so almost no-one goes Medic - it's barely a requirement.
I observed the open field vs cover issue but took the opposite experience away. I like the open fields in HLL because they are bound by hedge, wall and ditch cover. So, because of this you GROUP UP. It gives you an awesome feeling of rallying up like you see in ww2 war films and a real sense of the front line because you know that the enemy is also rallied up on the other side of that big field along the tree line so start laying down fire and smoke to advance. For me thats the best of HLL.
Conversely the weapons suck. The sound has already been covered but the handling feels sub-par - needs a lot of polish.
Roles - much easier to get the role you want than in PS as, although there are some specialised roles, you get a good spread and there doesn't seem to be a numbers cap in the squad on roles like PS.
Random obj. placement - I alsways dreamt of this in a game but they implemented it badly. Much of the time it happens in some very boring bits of the map.
To wrap it up - I love the battlefield/war film experience and the ability to jump in and get the role you want to get. Also pretty.
    Post Scriptum:
First thing to say is, PS now and PS what is was a year ago are chalk and cheese, the new update with France has transformed it in all ways - Gfx, assets, map design, new weapons etc
Immersion - all I can say is have a new pair of underpants ready because the sound is godlike and terrifying. Explosions, MG fire, Stukas - Many times I've fely actual trepidation advancing out of a trench. No other games does this. Full stop.
Weapons - handling, attention to detail second to none.
Maps - I hated the Dutch maps. I rarely play them. I'll cover that in a second ( Iknow, heresy). Fucking love Stonne. Probably one of the best WW2 FPS maps I've ever played and I'm an old fart and have been around since RO:Ostfront. Dinant - bits of that are very good two, it's just a bit weird for this type of game - thinkng Citadel specifically. Hope they bring out more maps.
Medic - love that you need a Medic, often play it cos I get you jab people and they magically pop up.
Map design - new engine update largely solved what was unplayable for me, however, my main gripe with PS in comparison to HLL is this. Everyone talks about how HLL is arcaade and PS is the real deal etc. My experience (more as a pubber) is that there's little sense of advancing or holding objectives in a realistic way. This, I think, is largely because the amount of undergrowth everywhere combined with low player numbers (in relation to map size) with extra large maps size makes for a Vietnam type environment sometimes - i.e wander through bushes for a mile then get shot from behind by unseen guy who pops up 5 metres away. Also, because cover is EVERYWHERE, there's little incentive to stay co-ordinated and inch around fields and use hedges like HLL. Basically, you either spawn off the spawntruck or the FOB or the radio/SL regroup thingy and everyone just dashes and spreads out towards the objective and soon the unit is all over the show. So it just feels like spawn and run. Sometimes you can have very good unit co-ordination, but it is uncommon and commanders do a pretty poor job generally (but that applies to both games).
So, at the moment I'm playing PS because the update is stunning. But i also drop back in to hLL for a bit of what I like in that.
Phew that was a long ramble :-)

Especially the Omaha Beach map because of the family history I have relating to that battle (unfortunately my great uncle did not make it off the beach), but war and video games are two totally different things. I play video games because I want to have fun and enjoy myself. I don't want to spend $30 on a multiplayer video game to get frustrated after a few hours because I don't even feel like I can contribute to my team. Thats what made it not enjoyable to me. The game had its moments for me, but overall, it was just not an enjoyable experience. To the people who DO have fun with the game, good on you, keep on playing, and keep supporting your community. The term good or bad design of maps really depends of the type of game.
An arcade game like CoD needs a lot of cover, very fast paced and what it counts is your skill to aim and shoot first. A bad designed cod map wouldnt have any cover, but in a game when the think that matters is realism, the good map design is the one that is indeed more realistic, thats why i prefer HLL maps, they also have better graphics and details, PS maps have a lot of generic props and objects, the houses are all empty, and in HLL the houses are just perfect.

Imo Hell Let Loose is a good game to start this genre, and if you feel good about it and you want something more immersive/harder then go to Post Scriptum.
And with my experience, I can say that Hell Let Loose is more dynamic (well at least not the first 5-10 minutes where you have to run whole god damn map) but often you can't see enemies and die a lot, or you have kills but not seen enemy. In Post Scriptum on the other hand, every kill you make is much more rewarding (you can hear little hit sound when you hit someone) cause you've tried so hard. And in the end of the battle in Hell Let Loose you look at stats and progress bar, but in Post Scriptum that does not matter, because you fulfilled your role as a part of a team and you did your part that ended up letting your team win.

I haven't tried PS, but love HLL. PS looks like it has some pros, but what I never see out of streams in that game is actual squad play, everyone runs around solo. In HLL you get squads moving together, covering each other, etc. I absolutely LOVE the maps in HLL, and the dynamic objective spawns means that you can play each map multiple times but you're going to have a different battle each time you do so. The more realistic map style, with less cover, means you need to coordinate as a squad and as a team. One game I had on Utah beach as Axis, we were pushed back almost the entire game, but the commander managed to coordinate an artillery smoke barrage and then 4-5 of our squads ran through an open field under smoke cover, straight into the objective and we took it back -- you can't beat that. Again, not having played PS, but not seeing anything to suggest otherwise in streams -- I think HLL offers far more command abilities and tools. You can mark the map with some 15 markers and coordinate with other squads to good effect. When I first tried HLL over a year ago, the communication was dismal, no one spoke, no one commanded, but now you get some decent squad leads who know what they are doing. I usually play squad lead because back when I started no one could do it, so I appreciate what HLL has to offer in this realm, and I don't see the same coordination coming from PS streams.

Having neither of the games .... and wanting one or the other . I've watched nearly every RUclips vid out there for either game ...to me the gunplay in ps looks flatout far better ..also with the bullet drop mechanic vs mod hit scan of HLL. Though HLL does look more "polished" overall (u.i and building interiors etc.) So in my unbiased opinion I'm getting PS... because at the end of day it's a shooter...I want the better gunplay.

Hey Fry, I’d love to see more videos in this style in the future. Honestly your EFT video made me consider coming back to the game, and this one was nice as well. Personally in a comparison video like this one, I wouldn’t mind if it was a bit longer, but you went into more detail about each game. Because I’m still curious about the kind of gameplay, as I heard PS was more like Squad (wasn’t it a mod for Squad originally, but made into a full game?) but I’m curious on whether or not HLL would be good for a group of more casual players. Because I’m not about to try and convince my friends to buy Battlefield 5.

Hell let loosse movement and firing mechanics is like im playing Day off defeat in 2020 in a milsim simulator. The thing is so stiff playing Project reality is more fluid. Can't disagree more with you on that one. Ugggh
So it fails in both regards. Even the sound design in my opinion. Im not a post scriptum fanboy. But i had a awfull time. Not mentioning a barely playable time. It did not catch me.

He’ll Let Loose is a absolute blast and the developers actually care and communicate with the community. I don’t have post scriptum but whenever I talk to people about post scriptum I just here constant stories of a toxic community. He’ll Let Loose is more casual for sure but also for the better. It’s community is also great with a lot of people willing to talk, communicate, and learn. Yea there are toxic players but that’s in every game. I highly recommend Hell Let Loose as it is shaping into a truly great game.

This is a nice video. I was given Post Scriptum for free, I think it's quite a lot of fun and the guns are good but... things like the 1911 are so fucking wild when you are shooting them without sighting in. Your soldier like throws the 1911 all the way to the top right of the screen. It's like, holy shit does he have wrists of glass? lol

  • @kevinflaherty4872
    @kevinflaherty4872 4 года назад

I have both games, and I play whatever I'm feeling for the day kinda. Put simply, I put Post Scriptum in a category for a hardcore experience. You mainly play this game just for that. There is no "xp" or leveling. You play it cause you want to. For Hell Let Loose, there is incentive to play to rank up and get small cosmetics....but it damages team play in my opinion. There's a lot of silence most of the time. If you like playing off on your own and leveling up (it really is a grind) go HLL. If communication and feeling rewarded for your actions is more your thing, PS is more that route

I've got a lot of hours in squad and I love the realism and immersion that squad delivered and that is why I chose post scriptum after debating these two, solely because squad and post scriptum are from the same devs so expected similar experiences. I have to say I was disappointed. I don't believe my poor experience was the devs fault as it wasn't the content itself that disappointed me. What gave me the poor experience was the lack of immersion, players wouldn't work together or communicate like they do in squad, I played 3 matches each on a different server and it was the same on all 3, lack of communication, constant TK, everyone just running around guns blazing like mad men, fighting each other to get the best vehicles. It was just a mess so I ended up getting a refund. I am now going to try out hell let lose hopefully Ill get a more enjoyable experience.

Post scriptum, just looks super ugly for me, The game is really blurry at 1080p.
